S10.E05: Tea for Tat
UsernameFatigue replied to OnceSane's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Oh, I totally agree that Lu likely can't afford that much for an apartment, but wanted us to think she can. The first thing you tell a realtor is the price range that you are willing to spend, so while I don't think Lu would spend that much, I think the scene was staged for us to think she can. -

I just got a chance to watch this episode now, so my apologies if my observations have already been posted by others. I loved the scene where Ramona was in the kitchenware store, and discussing Sonja on the phone. As Ramona is saying that she has to do better with regards to Sonja, she is caressing a box holding a rather large and dangerous looking knife. Lol. I am a bit confused as to why Carole said she would be upset if Adam was to date someone else...that it would be a betrayal. (I think that is the word she used, or at least one with that meaning). But they weren't together. Which makes me wonder if that is what Adam did with Luann's niece, and why she was so mad a Carole. (Though the person she should have been mad at was Adam, not Carole). He wouldn't be the first guy to continue to sleep with an ex, claiming he was not looking to date anyone else, while he looks for the next person to date. I have read that they are back together again, but I just didn't get the whole "I would feel betrayed" claim when she even said herself that she did not see more of Adam after the marathon. BTW, I thought Carole got her parties mixed up when she walked into Ramona's party in that fugly robe. She looked like she was dressed up for Halloween as Hugh Hefner. I hate it when the show does phony real estate scenes. Are we really to believe that Luann's agent had no clue ahead of time that she wanted a small apartment, not a three bedroom spacious place? The whole thing was a set up IMO to show us peons that Luann can afford to spend several million on an apartment, she just doesn't need that much room. The same farce was played out before Luann went to live with Sonja, while apartment/husband hunting. -

You aren't alone, but then I haven't liked this whole season so I am not surprised that I didn't like last night's episode either. I am really only watching at this point as some of the show is filmed in my mom's hometown, so I watch for glimpses of it. And to find out who the black hood is. But is has been dragged out for so long, that I don't much care about that either. I just hope when the person is revealed it isn't an unknown character. I don't see it being someone like Betty's father either. So my money is on Cheryl's uncle, the twin of her father. No reason other than he is a fringe character who no one cares about (other than Cheryl's mother). But the mystery has dragged on for so long that I don't even know if he would fit as the BH, and at this point really don't care. -

Does anyone know what product Dorinda (or her makeup artist) is using in her THs? Her skin (and I have noticed it on some other HWs as well) looks gorgeous and dewy. I assume it is a special product as in her many of her regular scenes her face looks like mine - minimally made up, and not glowing. I did love her TH where she was laughing so hard she could barely talk. Hilarious, and the Doris I like. Mean Doris - not so much. -

Bethenny was the star of this episode for me. Loved her snarking on the ugly outfits, including her own; snarking on Ramona's house which badly needs a facelift (as someone pointed out here, Bethenny's newly purchased house is more updated than Moaner's); snarking on Ramona's fugly glasses (and I have similar ones in my home that belonged to my husband's grandmother. I have managed to move them from the china cabinet to a cupboard without him noticing - I hate them - lol); and best of all, Bethenny burning the cheque. I also loved that she called Luann on her "innocent" questions to Dennis, and got an apology from Lu, however insincere it might be. I have been a Carol fan in the past, but she is just a bitter hag this season. Trying to hold on to her apple? Complaining that there was no marathon memorabilia at the party? Even the cake wasn't good enough. Sheesh. -
You would think that the second lawyer would follow the first lawyer as to how to defend Norman. Maybe the prosecutors had more evidence in the second trial that the first? I only remember the two jurors interviewed from the second trial saying that the hold out had a PhD and said he was smarter than everyone else. I would love to know why the majority of the first jury voted to let Norman go, and the majority of the second trial voted to convict him. I wonder if a trail could have been decided by the judge, what the outcome would have been? I thought the scene looked totally staged for a burglary, and as others have pointed out it is unlikely that a stranger is going to strangle a 8 1/2 months pregnant woman. I do think Norman is guilty, but I don't think that at least with what we were shown, I could convict him. I would like to convict all those women he was sleeping with though of having terrible taste in men. If I was Norman's mother, I would have been appalled that my son who was incapable of supporting himself was bedding so many women, and procreating like it was a sport. Norman seemed to think he was something, that he could get all these women to sleep with him. But just like if you set your standards low enough you can get someone to marry you, if you set your standards low enough you can get someone to sleep with you.

I only watched the first episode of this series and posted in this thread at how disgusted I was at animals being killed in this episode. I never thought actual animals were killed in the name of entertainment as, as others have pointed out, I am pretty sure that is against the law. Never the less I still objected to animals depicted being harmed as apparently one of the ways to show how ruthless Getty was. Totally not necessary, IMO. I was wondering how the rating were doing for this series, and it seems like it is losing viewers every week. The first week in the all important 18-49 demographic, it had .796 million viewers, followed by .736 the second week, .602 the third and .495 this past week. I don't know how many here may have watched the movie "All the Money in the World", but I did watch it recently as I find the subject fascinating, but was not impressed by the first show of this series. The movie was very well done, and Christopher Plummer was brilliant as JPG. He was able to convey JPG's personality without being one dimensional which is how I found Sutherland's portrayal in the short time I did watch him.

What I read at the time of the burglary was that it was that the security system was not turned on, due to a miscommunication. Kyle and family were out of town, and there were various workers at the home renovating while they were away. I don't think whoever installed the system can be held accountable if it was not turned on. Just googled a story regarding it, which stated : We're told this was a freak event where burglars were able to get in and out undetected, because the house has a state-of-the-art security system which can be turned on remotely, but there was a misunderstanding and it was not turned on.

Lu's engagement had a several day expiration date, she just refused throw the bum out when the relationship spoiled. She was desperately in love with the idea of being in love. I don't know if the HWs think they suffered due to Luann's insufferability with regards to TomCat, but I certainly did. -
This case was covered previously, and I thought it was by Dateline. So I watched the whole 2 hours hoping there was an update in the case, and that Wendi/her parents/her brother had finally been held accountable. I was so disappointed to find out that is not the case. Ugh.

I just got around to watching this episode, and also believed Katie from the beginning. What I didn't understand (and what others have mentioned) is why the police didn't interview Katie's son who was with her the whole evening. Even without his cell phone data proving Katie was not on that highway, it seems like the son was old enough to tell the cops that they went from Katie's friend's house to their own house. (In Katie's wedding pic taken 6 months earlier there were two boys - not sure which one was her son but they looked to be 8-10 years old at least so old enough to tell the police what he did that night). I don't understand why the DA wasn't suspicious of JD's story regarding Katie coming out to where he and Robin were meeting. Diego was with Katie, so if she really was there, JD should have known that the son was there as well. Of course he didn't say that, because Katie wasn't really there. And as much as Katie might be a POS is some parts of her life, I don't think she would take her son with her to kill her husband's ex wife. Scary to think that if not for her son's phone data, Katie might have been convicted for a murder her husband committed. I am impressed that she is hoping to go to law school, and looks like she is making great choices to make that happen.

Bolding mine. Yep, the whirlwind romance was over when TomCat stuck his tongue down his ex girlfriend's throat. Maybe even earlier, but that is the time it was caught on camera. Luann just dragged the "relationship" out to include a marriage. -

Their whole relationship lasted less than two years, including their divorce being finalized. They started dating in Nov/15, got engaged Feb/16, married end of Dec/16, split in early Aug/17 and divorced Sept/17. So I suppose she could say two years (minus two months), but of course anyone who was not desperate to marry would have dumped him after three months. So the fact is that she didn't, and whatever stress and agony it caused her is on her and no one else. Not even Tom IMO. He was quite upfront with what he considered marriage to be (as in, not one). She just refused to listen. -

I loved Tinsley's lunch with Luann. Bravo to Tinsley for pointing out to Luann that her marriage was much shorter than Carole's relationship with Adam. And whether Adam and Carole's relationship was a casual one or not, it was a much more committed one from what I could see than Luann and TomCat's ever was. I actually laughed out loud when Luann told Tinsley that her relationship to Scott should not be this hard, so early into it. Does this woman ever listen to herself speak? Her fiance of what, two minutes, (and boyfriend of less than three months) had his tongue stuck down and ex girlfriend's throat. Now if that is not a huge red flag of an example of a relationship that is "hard", I don't know what is. And I see Luann is still crowing about the fact that Tom married her, as proof that her relationship was more valid than Carole's. Lu honey, anyone can get someone to marry them if they set their standards low enough. And you did. As many have said, congrats to Carole for running the marathon. What an amazing accomplishment. I also teared up, seeing her finish and her friends and family there to congratulate her. -

The funniest scene in this episode for me was the cyclist almost running into Ericka. Because her whole outfit screamed "Look at ME!", and he didn't give her a backward glance. Lol. I really don't think I have come across a more insecure person in the HW franchises that I watch. (RHoOC, RHoBH and RHoNY). She is as fake on the inside as she is on the outside. I laughed at Ericka trying so hard with her condom inspired outfit, and LisaR stole the show with hers. Less really is more sometimes. My second fav scene was Dorito telling PK that he can expect a plane in his future. Does Dorito think that her swimwear line is going to be so successful that she will be able to buy a plane? Too funny. Props to whatever poster (sorry I should have quoted you) said that the server at the restaurant looked like two out of the three Three Stooges. Best line of the thread. -
Doesn't seem terribly smart of Luann (mind you I don't think of Lu as terribly smart) to say in a national magazine that she doesn't know if she is an alcoholic, and misses good red wine. The quote was "Eveybody around me says 'Luann, you're not an alcoholic.' I don't know if I am or not. All I know is that not drinking works for me right now. Will I drink again? I don't know. I miss good red wine. Not to say that I'll never have good red wine again. Who knows where we'll all be tomorrow. For today, that's the choice that I'm making for myself." For "today', until her sentencing is over? I wonder if the judge or prosecution will read this article before her upcoming sentencing on Friday the 13th? And who are these friends who are telling her she is not an alcoholic? The only friends that I can imagine would tell her that are friends who are also alcoholics and don't think they are, either.
-
There is an interview with Luann in last weekend's People magazine. She talks about rehab, and her struggles with alcohol. However she also says that at some point she is hoping t be able to drink again. So it appears that she will use her trip to rehab as her plot point this season (not surprising) just as she used TomCat as her storyline the last two years.

I am assuming he wanted taxpayers to pay for a public defender because he couldn't pick a lawyer and expect taxpayers to pay, could he? (Though he does seem arrogant enough that he might try). I wonder how he came up with the money to pay the bad ass defense attorney? He seems like a loser - how is he even supporting himself now I wonder? The daughter appears to be as delusional and self absorbed as her father. I am sure she thought she came off well. I wonder what she looks like without the makeup gun set to clown? It certainly did her no favours. Well that, and her personality. Marsha's family sued Donnie in civil court for wrongful death, in order to keep Marsha's assets out of his hands. Rather than testifying, on the first day of the trial he gave up rights to her assets and the judge declared her dead. This happened in 2015. I assume when they filed the suit possibly at that time he had to vacate her house until the it was settled, as it was a couple of years before the suit was settled that it showed her cousins going into Marsha's home, and seeing the state Donnie and the daughter left the home in.
-
In the Facebook page there were a few mentions of Donnie's daughter. Apparently she was always hitting Marsha up for money, and Marsha finally got sick of it and cut her off. No doubt one of the reasons she appeared to have no love for her step mother. And like others, I think she absolutely knows her father killed Marsha.
-
There is a very interesting Facebook site started by Marsha's family called "MISSING - Marsha Rader Brantley". The cousin interviewed on the show was one of her cousins who started it years ago, and I looked back as far as 2012 at posts. Many of the links no longer work unfortunately, but her family has certainly been pursuing justice for Marsha for years. The family refutes Donnie's claim of the money Marsha had supposedly been hiding in the attic. Of course there is only Donnie's word for this. Her cousin doesn't believe Marsha had any money put away, but if she did she had a perfectly good safe in her bedroom so why hide it in the attic. And of course (my thoughts) if she had planned that well to leave why would she not take anything with her including clothes, dogs, car, etc. Donnie told the FBI that Marsha didn't have any family. (I guess as an answer to the question of why he didn't tell them she was missing/left). But she had lots of family, just not living right in the same town/area. The family brought a civil suit against Donnie in 2015 for wrongful death. They wanted to make sure he could not get his hands on any of her assets. Rather than testify at the trial, at the first of it Donnie relinquished her assets and the judge declared Marsha dead. There was several references to a trailer but the links did not work. But it appears that Donnie and Marsha went on a camping trip at the end of May which is the last time she was seen or heard from (by anyone other than Donnie of course). Then the trailer disappeared. (I think Donnie in one of his stories alluded to Marsha taking the trailer when she left?). In any case Donnie was brought up on charges of hindering a secured creditor with regards to the missing camper. (Not sure if this was related to his having declared bankruptcy apparently a month before Marsha went missing). In any case the trailer was later found hidden on his mother's property. With regards to the sales receipt for the things Donnie bought that could have been used to bury Marsha - his business had already failed by this time. And if it was a business expense it should have been in the company's name, not his. Hopefully the police checked to see if he even had any handyman jobs at this time. His lawyer said that the tarp was light in colour so would not have been used for Marsha (?) but it had to be pointed out to them that when a body is buried it doesn't matter what colour the tarp is. One other thing - Donnie was able to post $25,000 in bail money the second time he was arrested, but he wanted to taxpayers to pay for his defense lawyer. What a chump. In addition to being a murderer.

Long Lost Family - General Discussion
UsernameFatigue replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Long Lost Family
I think it is also possible that there was only one candidate - Chris's actual father - and that his bio mom made up the story about the German boyfriend. The whole timing of her story made no sense. She only held Christian for 5 minutes before giving him up, meaning she signed over rights to him before she even left the hospital. (Which was certainly normal for mothers in maternity homes). Why would this boyfriend come to Buffalo (from where?) to take a blood test and then propose marriage when in all likelihood she had already given Chris up? And if this story is true, her parents could not have stopped her from marrying the German boyfriend since she was 19 and an adult. I think she made up the German boyfriend to her parents and put the fake identity on Chris's birth certificate as she could not admit that his bio dad was black. JMO of course but her story was just too sketchy. In the previews, wasn't it Chris again that they showed crying about having given up a son that the show was looking for? Sure looked like him, but I could be wrong. -
This episode was so infuriating!! There have certainly been people convicted of murder with less circumstantial evidence! Just off the top of my head: Marsha supposedly left but took absolutely nothing with her. No clothes. No personal effects. Not even her friggin' car! Marsha did not take her three dogs, her furbabies. Marsha supposedly willingly left the home that her beloved parents, her closest family, had built for her. It would have a lot of sentimental value. If Marsha wanted to clear her head, why would she not kick her freeloading husband out of HER home? Donnie kept changing his story of where Marsha went when she left. Donnie said that Marsha took her cell phone (odd, since she didn't take anything else) but he still had it. The things he bought right around her "disappearance" which would help get rid of a body. The card to the ex girlfriend saying his life just got a lot better. Donnie failed a lie detector test. Donnie either said he didn't remember, or took the 5th on it seems pretty much every question asked him in his 2013 deposition. At times it seemed like he was pausing to decide which of the two answers he was going to give. I am sure there are things I am forgetting. I am not sure how much of the circumstantial evidence might not be admissible in court, but geez. Those on Donnie's side kept pointing towards suicide, but where is the body? She couldn't have gone far without a car, and one would think if she called a taxi, or whatever there would be records of it. I assume her bank accounts have been checked and have shown that she has not used her accounts since she disappeared? If she left of her own accord, what is she living on? I really hope that the fact that the trial was cancelled only a couple of days before it was to begin means the prosecutor just needs a couple of more pieces of evidence to take it to trial. I would love to wipe that smug grin off Donnie's daughter's face. Oh, and if I were the cops I would also be looking into the deaths of Marsha's parents so soon after she and Donnie married. I know they said her mother had been sick for years, but it still sounded sudden. And her father died a month after her mother? Since Marsha got a big inheritance which Donnie seemed to help himself to via a failed business attempt, I'd be taking a closer look at his inlaws' deaths.

Vyle really is obnoxious. How old is he supposed to be now? When he and Hilary were kissing to make Devon jealous, I really thought that they would end up in Hilary's suite (or Vyle's since I think they are both staying at GCAC?). Just for a friendly drink (non alcoholic for Hil of course). Anyhoo, in my head I had Vyle raping Hilary (because he is just that despicable), and Hilary not knowing when she becomes pregnant if it is by Vyle or Devon. WTH was up with Simone? Yes, I understand that she was not thrilled that Devon was making a baby with Hilary. But a day or two ago she didn't even believe that Devon was that into her, and Lilly had to lay on the lies to convince her. I suppose we are not supposed to like her as we are to root for Hilary and Devon to reunite. Mission accomplished, as I have never liked Simone and will be happy to have her disappear from my screen. So if they ID JT's blood can he just say that he is a family member, so just happened to have bled in his inlaw's house? Hopefully his blood is mixed with Victor's. I am wondering though why Paul didn't seize Victor's computer, looking for evidence of who might have wanted to do him in. Would there not be a link to the camera he hid in Victoria's house, even though the camera is now gone? In any case, I am sure JT unplugging Victor's ventilator will bring him out of his coma. Because that is how Victor rolls.

All Episodes Talk: Small World, Big Lives
UsernameFatigue replied to NewOrleansLady's topic in Little People Big World
Amy and Chris have been together for over a year now (since Amy has posted pics from this Valentine's Day, and last Valentine's Day was part of last season). I doubt he would go to all that bother for someone he did not care about. Their relationship seems to have grown at a normal pace, and I think that is wonderful. I am happy for them both. Caryn's children (I wonder how many there are, and how old they were in 2013?) not being allowed on the farm is interesting. Since Caryn is the long time manager, one would think they were on the farm previously. Makes me wonder if it is because Caryn and Matt got together at that time, or maybe is part of the reason for Caryn's divorce. Matt has always insisted that he and Caryn started dating after his separation/divorce from Amy, but I don't believe everything Matt says. When the guests were pouring into Matt's DW, I thought Carrot Top was part of the group and for a second thought that I didn't know he was related to the Roloffs. Turned out it was Jeremy with his hair down, though the colour looked Audrey-red, I guess due to the lighting.
