  1. I don't need that story to see that, but yes, it was a major disaster. Kind of ruined the episode for me because you're like, really? On the behind the scenes they kept talking about how they didn't want the plan to work for the heroes. There is a difference between the plan not working and the plan being poor in the first place. It was the one sour point in the episode for me.
  2. Same here. A lot of times when a woman does such things in movies it isn't earned. But in this case... Arya has been training for years in the exact thing that was needed, small sneaky assassin. Rather than brutish hard fought battle. Those claiming that it was too quick / easy, I get it, but one of the great and bizarre things about life is that great evil can be defeated easily in a heartbeat. We have seen this in the real world. Finally the show was called "game of thrones" glad it is getting back to the game part. I also feel that the writers either sufficiently set it up or very well went back and looked at the show to decide she was a good pick. I also feel it helps make some resolution to her time in Bravos, where it seems, the many faced god just let Arya go. Why would that be ok? Well now we know. I don't think Arya will take Cersi out. Remember the finale is described as bittersweet. I think that applies to Arya as well. She will save the world but not get to complete her list.
  3. One thing I get from this episode is how little it seems Jon really cares about Dany. When she fell off her dragon, where was he? Jorah was over there watching out for her. Jon is like - Brannnnnnnn. They are like work partners. I got more love this episode from Jamie and Brianne, Hound and Arya, and Sansa and Tyrion than the main couple. Notice there was no final kiss before the fight? Not feeling the epic love.
  4. While I agree that the battle plan itself was moronic and seemed to have been thought up 30 seconds before the Walkers arrived... I don't have an issue with Cerci being correct. The best bad guys are smart. She was right. The point was she affirmatively agreed to help and went back on it. Originally they were only asking for a truce. I actually hope that Cerci turns out to be a formidable enemy who has learned from past mistakes. That doesn't mean I want her to win. Now everyone left is out for blood from her... not just surrender. I suspect this is done to hide special effects / mistakes. Wires etc. You will remember someone posted a photo of what looked like a human face behind Sansa once they lighted the trailer. Making things dark hides such things.
  5. I choose not to think it is sexism but rather a trope that many people want to see in their women. Crazy women, done wrong women, sick or dying women. Also I think GOT set up some foilers that people have speculated over so much they just can't let it go now that the show clearly isn't going there.
  6. I got the plan from the behind the scenes thing they played. But it is going to bother me just how poor the plan was. If Dany was worried about the dragons getting hit she should have planned for that. Either targeted the white walkers (who had the spears) early on or found a way to put armor on the dragons / put the dragons under armor tent or shield. The random firing at rank and file dead was insane. They should have had a trap for the night king when he came for Bran. They should have targeted the white walkers. Plus they didn't even know if the dragon fire would work and doh, it didn't. The fact that they didn't consider the crypts being dangerous is mind boggling. But they absolutely should not have given the night king one single additional body for the army of the dead. But I still liked the episode. Just makes me concerned that Dany and Jon do not seem very bright on how to win a battle.
  7. I want to see Jon's reaction and Dany giving her a "you go girl". Other than the battle planning scene it is unclear if Dany has met Arya.
  8. I was a little surprised by that too. I loved the scene where the two dragons took out like 700 dead in one shot right in front of Sansa and Arya. My only theory was that it was not meant to be a Barb against Dany. But more a "your heart has been captured by Dany" thing. I hope Sansa apologizes next episode. Everyone was freaked out and salty.
  9. That is what is so ballsy about this plot point. But you can argue that it still was Jon. Without him sounding the alarm and keeping at it... no one would have been there. Also remember Arya was going to head to Kings Landing before she heard Jon was back at Winterfell. Without Jon she wouldn't have been there. It is actually interesting thinking about it (I think) that Melisandre never said that Jon or Dany was the Prince. She simply said they had a role to play. One thing I hope we see in the next episodes is Dany realizing just what she has in the North and with the Starks. Seriously, Bran can tell her what is going to happen. Arya can be her personal body guard and Sansa knows Cersi better than anyone.
  10. I assumed that his trance was a way to distract the night king so the NK wouldn't see Arya coming in the future. Bran being so insanely calm makes me think he saw the entire thing happening year ago. I don't feel he was useless. He was key. But I don't think they explained that well.
  11. This was another thing I really enjoyed. All of them looked like they were going down to defeat. I could not see anyway out for them and I was particularly wondering if Sansa and Dany were going to die in this episode. Going into the episode I was 99% sure there was no way that was going to happen. So I was genuinely worried.
  12. I loved Arya taking out the night king. Personally it feels like it gives some much needed pay off to all her years of training. I also loved that I did NOT see it coming. For those complaining that it felt anti climatic I have always felt that the dead were *too* powerful on this show. After all, they are dead. Once the living took the threat reasonably seriously I had no doubt they would be able to win. Though.. my gosh Jon and Dany better never make a battle plan again. That was horrible. They should have landed the dragons outside winterfell and just had them blow fire directly at the hoard of undead. I felt like the dragons were poorly used the entire battle and Jon straight up didn't know what he was doing. Jon is alway such a smuck when it comes to the Night King. It is amazing the NK hasn't gotten him before. He seems to lose all smarts and go on emotion. What were they thinking with the Dothraki? They win their battles by intimidation. That was not something that would work here. They all should have been kept back guarding the dragons while the dragons just shot fire over the ditch at the dead. We can still say Jon played a major role in getting the living to take the threat seriously. And without him the NK wouldn't have been defeated. I believe Bran's trance was an attempt to distract the NK so he wouldn't see Arya in the future like Bran did. I love that Bran gave her the dagger. One of the best moments for me was when they gave us a hint Arya was coming with the wisp of hair on the white walker moving and him looking like he sensed something. I didn't really understand Melisandre going to dust when she took off her necklace, she took off her necklace before and just turned old? Jorah dying did make me cry. Emilia Clark sold that and having Dragon sad kind of gave me the feels. I thought all the deaths were appropriate. All the characters who died seemed like they had nothing more to give the show. I will have a little trouble taking Cersi seriously now though. She has never been particularly smart and faces two dragons, Arya, and probably the entire north. I feel like they are going to throw us a curve ball on Cersi but I am not sure what. Most of the "spoilers" I have heard about this year have not even been close. I now think they were all foilers and I look forward to the great surprises ahead.

    Titanic (1997)

There was definitely room for two on that raft.
  14. As an aside, I recently saw Crazy Rich Asians and was mighty confused. To me it wasn't a romantic anything. I just couldn't get into it and eventually stopped watching. I never bought that the main guy character was in love with the girl. And I did think the Asian culture thing took me out of the story because it seemed so odd to me. And this is a girl that watched an all Russian movie but still felt like I understood their traditions.
  15. Dany was quite good about listening to her subjects in Essos. Remember when she would hold court and some slaves came and asked to be slaves again? I thought Jon was out to lunch there in this most recent episode I don't feel Tourmond knows Brianne at all. He knows what she looks like but really nothing else. His entire like is based on her looks. Jamie *knows* Brianne and she knows him. I would prefer Brianne have that kind of love and adoration from someone who really knows her well. I doubt it though. I think it is going to be Brienne to go making for a motivation for Jamie to really perhaps blame Cersei and take her out in the end. It would be a good twist if the younger more beautiful person that replaces Cersei from the prophecy is Brianne who is more beautiful on the inside and replaces Cersei in Jamie's heart. No I just can't see Arya ever being a wife and mother and I can't see Gendry (or most men) not wanting to settle down after the NK thing. What might be nice would be for him to meet Sansa and fall for her. I see him and Arya just as good friends with benefits.
  16. I wanted to go back to this. I am not sure what they are doing with Tormund but he is verging on insulting. I can see that he might be nervous and not know how to act but it has been going on too long. We know Tormund is adorable but she doesn't and he isn't doing a very good job. I am guessing this isn't going to get resolved properly but I think Jamie / Brienne is massively complex and I would kind of like to delve a bit into that and stop it with the wacky Tormund crush. Of course it was adorable for Jamie to realize someone else is interested. But Tormund's buffoonery kind of ruined it.
  17. Honestly it was Davos with that little girl and Gilly stepping in to take care of her. It was kind of like Davos got reminded that there will always be the spirit of Shireen out there and always be people, like him, around to help them out. If he is alive or not. It was almost like it was his recognition that he can move on now and rest. But if he does survive I want him to have to adopt her.
  18. I still say it isn't fair to expect Dany to do anything right now about breaking the wheel. She has to gain control right now against people who aren't so democracy minded. That means a large show of power and perhaps, bully like tactics to obtain power. Once she has power she can make decisions. I already feel she is putting those things into place. She wanted to do something to Jamie but when faced with Sansa, Jon, Bran and Brianne ready to forgive Jamie, she read the room and let it go. She has historically asked all her advisors about things and sometimes taken their advice and sometimes not. Cersei? Nope. I feel like she had ever reason to be surprised at Sansa wanting independence for the North. As far as I know that was never on the table and was too much ask for in meeting two with Dani. I feel that was a Sansa blunder. If I was Dani I might wonder if I was being taken advantage of. I have always been willing to give her a pass on that. She really knows nothing about Cersei just meeting her at the Dragon pit. Both Jon and Tyrion know much more about Cersei and Dany's faith was in their judgment. In fact, other's judgment seems to be most of the blunders of Dany's campaigns. On Arya and Gendry not looking happy after boning. I didn't take that as a comment on the sex but rather the sobering idea that the dead were coming and it could be their last sex after.
  19. I think that is the problem and I see it as the reason everyone reacted badly to Arya and Gendry. Just not enough interaction to make the audience feel what they are supposed to be feeling, really too bad. I feel like this show should have actually gone 12 seasons with 10 episodes each to really finish out the story.
  20. I thought this episode was an improvement from last week. It does feel like this episode and last one were part of the same thing. I think they fixed a lot of the problems. How I see this is that Dany's battle this year will be with herself. Her identity for so long as been rightful heir to the crown but as she gets to know the people of the north things aren't working out for her. I see Dany's heart being changed. Not sure if that means that Dany will accept a co partnership with Jon or if she might choose to take a different role in leadership. I saw this episode as key. It is difficult to war with good people up close. I feel like nothing has gone right for her in the North. Kind of reminds me of a valedictorian from a no name town thinking they are hot stuff heading off to Harvard and finding everyone else there so much more than them. I think everyone was touched by Sansa because Sophie did such a great job emoting into the old Sansa that no one sees anymore. I was a little caught off guard with Sansa wanting independence for the North. When has that ever been on the table before? I can't see any ruler allowing it because then the North could challenge the south.
  21. He was right to do it but it isn't that big a deal in the larger scale question of what matters to the little guy of Westeros. They either don't care or are actively rooting for Wildings deaths. Plus he failed at his big moment. He only saved like 1/3rd of them. So 2/3rds of them are now in the army of the dead. That is a "failed" mission. This in no way qualifies him for leader of the 7 kingdoms. Maybe leader of the Wildings. No one else really cares in this world. And apparently unable to learn from these things. I mean what will it take, for him to be stabbed in the back... oh wait... he has been stabbed.
  22. I truly don't understand how you could come to this conclusion. Jon bringing the Wildings south isn't that big of a deal (or even maybe wise) and actually he only saved like 1/3rd of them. We have no idea if that will result in war in the north in the future. Everything is hold because of the night king. As for Jon being elected King of the North I suspect any support he got was due to Sansa and the absence of a male Stark that could take that crown. They put up with him but seems like a very weak alliance. Umber won't even come fight with him. Sansa is the woman behind the man in this case. Insisting that Jon fight for Winterfell, providing the troops to win, and keeping northern alliance and running the North while he goes off on missions. Ironically if they powers that be are looking for a male female partnership to run the seven kingdoms they should look at that model. Look at Dani. She eliminated slavery for Essos. If power were her only goal she could have sacked Kings Landing immediately but didn't because she didn't want the innocent hurt. And when told that the north was in danger she flew up there and lost a dragon. She now stands to fight with people she doesn't even know that seem to dislike her that could put everything she worked for at risk. Interestingly, the north seems very unaware of any of this... humn... maybe Jon doesn't want his "accomplishments" overshadowed.
  23. Yeh I am not really buying the "Dany" kills anyone who opposes her. The Tarlys practically begged her to kill them. Not to mention that dad Tarly did nothing at all to save his son. He wanted his son to die with him. I am sorry for Sam but some people deserve to die. She has been more than fair with people and it is my sense that Dany feels she needs the crown first before she can do anything meaningful to make things better. So everyone acts like she is all about power but it isn't clear yet if she is all about power for power's sake. She is driving toward a bigger goal. She needs to play by the rules in place right now before she can break them. It seems unfair to me that people judge her for that. I have never really understood the allure of Jon Snow. He is exactly like Ned and if he was king he would trust the wrong person and they would destroy him and his reign. Over and over again the story of GOT is that kindness only gets you .... well, Ned got beheaded, Doran Martell was weak and look what happened and then, look what happened to Jon Snow. Also, I think Jon sucks at strategy. I think the apparent idea to face the night king at Winterfell is a bad one. Just like the battle of the bastards Jon is under manned and not at his strongest. I honestly think Cerci is a better tactician.
  24. I had the same thought. More of the illogical 2 for one scene writing. And Arya still looks like a kid and she isn't exactly dressed like a "she" so it made things even more unbelievable. Perhaps it will change in the future but I think Daenerys was out of character here. She apparently got in a snit because the northerners didn't flock to her right away. This is the same woman who dealt with the sons of the harpy in Essos for years so she knows what it is like to have her subjects not like her. But it was also another rushed thing as literally no one in the north had ever seen her before and she came in with a bad reputation. It is to be expected, and I have a hard time believing that Daenerys would be so put out by it given her history. She seems like the type that would go into over drive to start winning them over. I would have expected her to take the bull by the horns, seek Sansa out (without Jon), and talk with her to try to assure her. Instead she made sarcastic quips, went joy riding out with Jon on the dragons and put her foot in her mouth big time with Samwell. I feel like since she got with Jon they have lost her character. The last time I feel I saw her was Dragonstone.
