  1. All of this. The fast pace it seems is making the story stuffer and I was here for good storytelling. It is too bad. Everyone is annoying me because they aren't actually behaving like themselves. Even Arya. How long has she been waiting to see John again and she is going use that time to admonish him on remembering to be part of her family? No she should have 100% trust in him. This was just a way for the writers to move things along. It seems like every scene now has 2 or 3 purposes. I did not like the dragon riding. I had assumed that if Jon ever was on a dragon it would come as necessity in the battle with the dead. I would have cut that scene. Sam goes to John, did Dani tell you about my family? And my first thought is -- huh? She clearly had no idea who Sam was. Why would Dani tell Jon anything about it? But the story acted like somehow this should have been a conversation. The only highlight for me was at the start when Arya saw Jon riding in like a boss and she was a bit overcome to even say anything. For a stone cold killer you could see what that moment meant to her.
  2. I have to say I am disappointed. I thought the rushing done in season 7 was necessary but they are doing it again and I am afraid it will ruin things. As others have mentioned a lot of lazy writing had to happen last night to accommodate the break neck speed. It is making characters come off poorly.
  3. That action scene is quite good. But I have seen this story a zillion times. Might be good if it was a sequel of sorts to Nikita.
  4. Ugh I hated it. For me it went over the line when she and her mean girl BFF tricked him into kissing Sierra without his knowledge. That is assault and if the tables were turned there would be outrage. Also no way those two would ever get together, period, but never mind after the elaborate ruse she went to. Yes she actually pretended to be a deaf mute to keep the ruse up. Offensive to me.
  5. I didn't love it. It was flat and I didn't get any romantic vibes with the leading lady. Just BFF. She was also trying too hard to be "the rebel" and didn't create a believable or interesting character.
  6. It could, if done wrong, undercut all the stories. The prequel, OT, etc would have all fought, suffered, and died for nothing. I hope it is done correctly. For if what Luke says in the clip is correct "nothing ever really dies" are we doomed to fight these same battles over and over again? That might be great for Disney's bottom line but not the audience so much. However, if it was presented in a "you didn't really think it would be that easy did you?" way, and if Ray's Mary Sue-ness is connected to Palpatine still being alive and a massive dark side threat way bigger than Kylo.. I think it could be done right.
  7. I doubt it only because I just don't think that Kylo can be redeemed. Maybe Kylo has a kid? At the end what are Ray et al looking at when the laugh happens. It looks to me like part of the death star. Is that how palatine survived?
  8. I saw the Perfect Date as it dropped today. It wasn't bad just a little by the book. And I wasn't really feeling the romance of it.
  9. Me too but objectively all the star wars trailers are amazing. Now they need to work on the movies.
  10. I didn't like her so thrilled she isn't in it. But it is just a teaser.
  11. Just seems unlikely Mark Hamill isn't a spring chicken. I was thinking JJ was going to reveal in some convoluted way that Ray is a skywalker.
  12. Looks great but confused about what it means.
  13. I hope so. I just saw it last night and didn't like it. I felt like there was too much stuffed in and I felt like it should have been called Deadpool and friends. Didn't like them killing off Vanessa either. Not only from a character point of view but it really slowed the movie down.
  14. I haven't seen Brokeback but I didn't love Benjamin Button on Slumdog. For me they weren't romantic enough. Just kind of paint by the numbers. If we are talking about ones we didn't like, Every day disappointed me. It is on almost every streaming service so I decided to give it a shot. It has a high concept idea as well. There is this "spirit" (calls itself A) that inhabits bodies every day for one day and then is "pushed" into someone else's life. The spirit has been like this since birth. One day he gets pushed into the body of Rhiannon's boyfriend. A tells Rhiannon about himself - they fall in love and he keeps bringing back the bodies that he inhabits to Rhiannon. The problem for me was (1) based on YA so ... right there and (2) when it all had to come to an end I expected a much more heart wrenching painful *epic* reaction and it was just so... not.
  15. I can't really tell if this is a comedy or a drama but I recommend Barefoot. Bad boy rich guy is serving a public interest sentence as a janitor at a mental hospital when a girl shows up that is unlike any other - but she isn't mentally ill. After she has some issues with some of the other residents he helps her out and she follows him out. He takes her to his brothers wedding and road trip. The trailer seems a little more silly than I remember the actual movie being.
  16. That is one of the issues some had with the movie. But in my opinion he is very gentle about it. There is a difference between persistent gentle prodding someone out of their comfort zone and being a jerk. He makes it clear that he is willing to be patient but he isn't going to let her just hide in her house forever. There is a practical reason he is so pushy at the start. But when she finally tells him that it is time to go, for real, he does as she says. Jason Ritter is one of the few actors out there that could have pulled this role off.
  17. Map of the Human Heart was good too. I remember going to see it because something else my friend and I wanted to see was sold out and John Cusack was in it (he isn't in it much). I just remember it being an epic story about love but also what struck me was that it concerned people in WWII you might never really get to have a story about, eskimos, land mappers. The trailer isn't great but.. it was 1992.
  18. I guess I can't edit my prior post but here is the trailer for I am dragon ( it is in english but the movie may not be).
  19. Tubi for sure but also I think amazon.
  20. Saw a couple of different ones Forgive the title but Good Dick was ... interesting. It starts Jason Ritter as a video game store clerk (2008 movie) who becomes intrigued with an introverted female customer who keeps renting erotica. It sounds so icky but it isn't. It is a little bizarre and a little slow but if you liked messed up people find love stories this one will keep your interest.
  21. I am catching up on my amazon prime, saw another good one, Teenage Dirtbag. It is an odd movie but concerns a boy from the wrong side of the tracks who has always semi known this straight arrow cheerleader because they have alphabetical order names. But in their senior year in high school via a creative writing course they develop feelings for each other but never really admit it out loud. At the start it says it is based on a true story and though the director says there is no real life person - the entire way it plays out to me seems so true to real life I can't believe the movie isn't a tribute to a real life person / situation. Major UST if you like that kind of thing.
  22. I just watched the Escort and thought it was good. I have seen it described as a comedy though I don't think it is funny. Basically a guy who is struggling in his life and chosen career (writer in LA) gets the idea to write about a high class escort's life so he can get a job at a magazine. She initially says no but realizes he could be a protector against violent johns. The two main characters have very strong chemistry and the woman has a modern reason for choosing this job. Not a lot of sex is focused on.
  23. I liked that one by my favorite version was the 2008 BBC miniseries. Dan Stephens and Hattie Moran were amazing.
  24. I am Dragon - I just saw and loved. I warn you that it (depending on what one you watch) is in Russian with english subtitles. Even though some trailers are in dubbed english. After about 15 minutes the movie was so engrossing I forgot it was subtitled. It is streaming on Tubi (which is free) and Amazon Prime. Kind of an odd mix of beauty and the beast and the blue lagoon (but is is very PG).
  25. Ok so now I saw it all. I thought the final episode was a little schmaltzy. Too much all at the end. Thought the scene where Matt was legit upset was touching. You could see the realization on Tony's face that he was hurting people he loved. I checked out Derek last night - same cast pretty much. Perhaps because these are people Gervais worked with before you just felt that he liked them all. Even when he would make a joke it seemed obvious he liked them all. Brian was sad. Thought they should have gotten him help. I don't think they should make anymore. I think it was the perfect "life lesson" about getting over great grief.
