  1. I haven't finished it but I thought it was excellent. My relating was the scene where Gervais is hanging out at the hospital and sees his wife's room. I live in a relatively small town and you better I believe I am acutely aware of all the rooms my loved ones suffered in. But have to say.. the show was really helped out by that dog. Very pretty. Roisin Conaty was wonderful as the sex worker. She had her own short show on Hulu which cracked me up, called Gameface.
  2. Agreed. I also feel Steve never really dreamed of having a wife or having kids.. he seemed to dream more of helping people. So his "end game" would be making a major difference to the world. I don't think he could ever just sit around and NOT be helping people, captain america or not, so I think that would pose problems if he went back in time and perhaps, if he had kids or was with Peggy, he might not give them his full attention. He would always be distracted wanting to help out. I suspect they will give some sort of way back in for a cameo or something but - Steve buys it.
  3. Netflix needs to slow down and start making good series. There is too much blah on there now. All of these bothered me. But I had two weird things. What is with Jack's hair? It was gross greasy not good greasy. He also didn't seem that attractive to me (and looked nothing like his dad). Why were people not losing their minds when kids were being killed off at this school in the early episodes? I recognized Vera from "Ginger Snaps" which is a great series about werewolves.
  4. The new look is really surprising and noticeable. I can't tell if I like it or not. She looks good but it seems to different from the origin movie I can't tell what that means for the character. Strange too that Natasha is relatively make up free always so I don't think it is a "Russo" gaze thing. I heard a rumored spoiler That made me feel better about how she would be handled in this movie.
  5. Agreed. I feel like he is a low threat to Marcus. Marcus grabbed me from the start but he is staring to fall into the background and I just don't love the other characters *that* much.
  6. I just caught this on demand and thank god... I was having problems understanding them too. At first I turned it up but I still couldn't really get most of what they were saying. Poor sound editing. Otherwise I was really drawn in. I knew nothing about the comic.
  7. Why do I feel you aren't serious? Hmnnnn
  8. I support the misogynistic racist assholes. But I suspect this movie will do well enough. First, a lot of people are desperate to get some clue or something about End Game and that makes it worth it to them. Similar to Ant man. I expect most of the box office to come early and then drop off because 1. No one really is that interested in Captain Marvel (her comics don't do well) 2. She is overpowered. Ruining the other characters. 3. She is cosmic.. I think a little cosmic goes a long way and I know reviews have stated this is full on cosmic. 4. Brie Larson has just been a jerk in her statements. 5. I am getting sick of this woman centric marketing baloney. Black Widow, Princess Leia, and Wilma Deering called and want their title(s) back.
  9. I happened to be flipping through you tube as this was getting posted and I definitely thought the real trailer was a fake when I saw it, but then I saw several more. Does anyone else think this could be a bit of a fake - produced by the Russos? Steve looks really weird in that shot at the group.
  10. I got to episode 6 but... while well made... I hated some aspects. First, Mave to me is unlikable and not worthy of Otis. The only reason she gets any play is that she looks like Margo Robbie. Otis seems obviously to be very handsome (ok he isn't built but he has potential) and is a very good friend to Mave. She should thank her lucky stars but ignores him. (admittedly have two episodes to go) but right now she is on my last nerve and I don't understand her relationship with Jackson other than she found the one guy she is least likely to ever get with really. Just waiting for the abortion secret to come out, probably in season 2. Adam was sooo obvious as gay. Amazing no one suggested it. But I always feel such plots are dangerous because they make gay kids think that people that don't like them... really do. A similar situation was made fun of in "he is just not that into you" for the heterosexual. I liked Eric but I didn't see how him and Otis could be friends. They didn't seem to have much in common. There were a few scenes where Eric as much as realized he wasn't needed in the situation and just basically left. The actors didn't have a friend vibe that worked for me. They were friends because the show demanded it. It seemed odd for Otis to be so free about dressing up in drag where for most of all the episodes he was very sensitive about being embarrassed in that way. Should I feel bad for GA? I thought her character and her acting was just awful.
  11. One weird thing about it is that it seems to give away the idea that no one is traumatized about what happened with Thanos. Just in case
  12. I had concerns about Spiderman showing up in Europe but this looks like Spidey really won't. Like most of the time Peter is trying to be on the down low. Loved Aunt May embracing Peter as Spiderman. Don't love Happy and May but the thing is... early reports made it seem like it was a thing in progress. But it seems like EVERY man can't help but flirt with May and that was all that was happening. I just love MJ, "I am just messing with you." she clearly likes him but may not know how to react to such things and always reacts but pretending like she doesn't care. The teenager / John Hughes vibe is still strong and if Betty is there seems like she might have joined academic decathlon? Do have to side eye at Peter not getting any spider sense at Nic Fury sitting in his room but maybe it is because Nick isn't a threat to him. One thing, what happened to Peter's bedroom? It was wayyy bigger in the last movie.
  13. Another one I liked was Man Up. Basically a 34 year old woman is at her wits end looking for a good relationship and just as she is about to give up she is mistaken as the 24 year old blind date of a 40 ish year old, just divorced, guy. She decides to go with it... during the wacky high jinks that ensue... they fall for each other but... then the truth is revealed. I liked, but you may not, that Simon Pegg (typically known for comedy) is cast as the male lead.
  14. Give it a shot... it wasn't the best thing ever but better than I thought.
  15. That is right, I just now, saw infinity war. So I will give you all my thoughts. 1. Joe and Anthony Russo imho are responsible for the MCU. They are talented filmmakers and in particular have done the large majority of good movies in the MCU, I don't know if the MCU can really do well if they aren't doing most of the movies. 2. The movie was wonderfully paced. I honestly didn't realize 2 hours had passed. Everyone had a story and each one told what was necessary without boring times. 3. Prior to seeing the movie I had seen clips on you tube. The movie was better and everything flowed in the actual movie. 4. The movie was also so good because of the Villain. Thanos was amazing. All the most compelling bad guys don't think of themselves as the bad guy and here, I think every viewer has a moment where they feel for him or wonder if he isn't right. All the more impressive because he is a CGI creature. I can definitely see them using Thanos as an unlikely ally in the future. 5. Actually liked Dr. Strange and Tony quipping at each other. Even in such dire straights I laughed at Tony a lot. "you throw another moon at me and I am gonna lose it" <g> 6. There is no way Cap and Nat aren't a thing. 7. it was so creepy how the movie ended without music. Just the quiet breeze and Cap sitting there devastated.
  16. A couple of movies I hadn't seen here yet Class Rank: A teen girl who dreams of being the next USSC justice finds out she is ranked #2 in her class (and no USSC Justice was ranked that) so she tries to get the school board to totally drop rank, when that doesn't work she convinces a bright but geeky fellow student to run for the school board with her as his campaign manager. And of course, romance follows. Unlike the Netflix teen flicks . . . these kids seem real and being smart is a good thing here. Blind Date: This is subtitled but basically this woman moves into her first apartment which is wonderful but very cheap. Eventually she learns the reason, the wall between her and her neighbor has no insulation and each can hear the other like they are in their own apartment. Like having a roommate you can't see. Kind of reminded me of a ghost and Mr. Muir situation as the guy had managed to run off all the people who wanted to rent the apartment before she moved in and at first he isn't happy about having to share his space. Priceless: again subtitled. So a *gold digger* (with a heart of gold of course) confuses a waiter with a mark and sleeps with him before discovering her mistake. That might seem like the entire story but the rest of it branches off is strange funny and adorable ways until the waiter ends up winning her over.
  17. Yes I saw this a few years ago and realized that "You've Got Mail" had to really twist and turn its plot in bizarre ways to not retread on the simple story of "show around the corner". The only real problem for me was that it was so dated. When Jimmy Stewarts character was giving Margret Sullivan's character reviews on how she dressed, and apparently that was a thing, I had to cringe.
  18. I am going to have to say I didn't like this one. The biggest problem for me was that the lead actor pinged my gaydar. Not great in a romantic movie. Also I thought the plot was the most convoluted thing I had seen in a while. Basically someone has an apartment to rent in a small town in Vermont and, to get people to stay there, they let you manage the bookstore they also own. Who would go to that bother? I know there was a twist coming but 60 minutes in I didn't care at all.
  19. I just saw it and enjoyed it a lot. I kind of felt like the insomnia was telling Lizzy that she and her finance weren't right for each other, she just didn't want to listen. The marriage was forcing the issue. This was why her finance' called it off when he found out she hadn't been sleeping with him. I enjoyed it for its unique premise, relatively unique male lead (not ambitious but still a pretty good guy), and supporting characters. I also give them great credit for addressing the boner issue as that will come up in that situation. I was most puzzled by these things though 1. why no sleeping pill reference? It would have made more sense if there as a throw away line about Lizzy trying them but having them not work? 2. was it ever explained why Billy made her sleep and vice versa? It did feel like there was a lot left on the cutting room floor. At a basic level it seems improbable that you could fall in love with someone you are just "sleeping" with because you wouldn't be awake most of the time you were with them. If they really wanted to sell it they should have had more moments where maybe she wakes up early and you she likes being with him... or he wakes up and you can tell how much he likes just being there or more pillow talk before falling sleep.
  20. Happy would know. But interestingly, have you noticed that Pepper refers to him as "the kid" in homcoming and even in infinity war when Spiderman shows up Tony says "hey kid"... also Rhody asks in Civil War how old this "kid" is. I can see Tony being protective about Peter's actual identity. That being said, obviously from this trailer someone knows. Unless this is misdirection by the Russos.
  21. I wasn't aware the majority of Avengers knew who Peter was... so that is kind of interesting for me to see.
  22. Very good trailer. I thought it hit the right notes without giving too much away. Come on April.
  23. I thought the end tag with the cat and furry just got all fur baby parents into the theater in March. Good move. More compelling trailer than the last one and more blunt about the scrull war. Still not sure that the kree "tortured" her to give her powers. Sounds like she lost her memory in the incident that gave her the powers and the Kree just didn't do anything to give them back / put her to use with them.
