  1. Agree. Maddie isn't great but Kat has been on a self destructive path since the start. She is pushing people who care about her away and devaluing herself. I think it is all going to come crumbling down soon for her.
  2. Fez might not be the brightest bulb but I found it odd that he didn't see Nate calling the cops on him coming. I wonder if a brief stint in jail didn't look like a way to deal with his dealer pushing him to move the drugs. I kind of feel like the writers cheated this episode. We haven't seen much of Bipolar Rue until now. Kind of late to be highlighting this aspect of Rue. But I think Zendaya did a great job with it.
  3. Dang that was good. No matter what you think about Tom Cruise I always feel like he tries to insure a good product. So I definitely want to see this. For his signature role I think he will insist on a decent product.
  4. They should have gone with Tom Holland. https://movieweb.com/james-bond-tom-holland/
  5. I went to see this on July 4 in a major city theater and it was the same. I am officially starting to doubt the veracity of box office numbers because I remember when I was a kid it would be MUCH more crowded when a blockbuster came out, even with several theaters showing it.
  6. Nope this stuff annoyed the crud out of me. For any man to get a blow job on his wedding day is bad enough but to do it on the phone with his intended on the other end... do not make the other man a ROYAL .. blank in the first episode if you want to set up a triangle. I can't believe that any woman with an ounce of self respect could ever ever ever even be friendly again with that, even she needed a lawyer for something. If she went to him for help it would be like "you owe me". I actually only liked one aspect of the show and recently it seems to have gone away: that is Amanda discovering there is this whole different side of herself that she likes better and finding that people at the fare were all really nice "salt of the earth" types that helped her along her journey. I am not saying they can't have side plots but so far they haven't been very compelling. IMHO. Even David is starting to grate on my nerves. I have to say that I liked the promise of this show but I am not sure it should get a second season.
  7. Don't forget some pretty major stuff happened before Homecoming. Such as Peter's Uncle being murdered. I am sure that got everyone's attention focused on him. And MJ makes a remark that she noticed he quit some clubs. I took Peter getting interested in her as sort of a mistake. Peter started noticing that she was looking at him all the time and following him and that got him to take interest in her and eventually develop feelings. I felt bad for him when he thought all of that had been because she suspected him of being Spiderman. In a way it was but it more like she found out he was Spiderman because she was interested in him before all of that. I just didn't feel like we got a lot of development on this front. But I guess it is a Marvel movie and they typically shy away from that. I wonder if the next movie will take a time jump to either after high school or as they are graduating.
  8. I would have liked to seen Peter and her spent 10 minutes together where you know, they actually talked... the "romance" was wayyy too fast. I have a beef with all the tropes here.. Brad being the rival, the writers chose to put MJ in danger so she could run up at the end and kiss Peter, it really didn't need to be that way. Brad imho was a completely unnecessary character having the effect of taking MJ's agency away and pushing her to a "thing" in the background. Kind of the same for ned. Last movie he took out the shocker and was the man in the chair. This movie he is a something to be saved. It would have been more funny if MJ walked in on Peter with the blonde. Maybe Michelle and Ned found a way to take care of the drones on their own because you know, like Peter, they are intelligent kids and go to a school for the gifted? I sensed some lazy writing and falling into many tropes of the Rami movies. MJ had more to do in the last movie. She won the academic decathlon in homecoming when Peter couldn't be there. I took it that Peter tends to focus on the Iron Man stuff simply because it is so painful for him. But irked that I have to do so much handwaving of the movie. Another thing that kind of irked me is that seriously, there is no other super hero available- not one? I mean are they just watching London being savaged and being like, nahhh. They had no way of knowing that Peter was even there. I can see edith being given to Peter but I would also feel that Pepper, Happy or the Avengers would have the kill switch.
  9. I can kind of see if if the presumption was that a secret identity less Spiderman was going to be that way for a while. But I get the feeling that this is the way they are telling us that Spiderman is only going to get three movies. And the final movie will not really need his secret identity. Presumably due to the sinister six or something very much like it. I also feel like they can completely retcon it if they want. The weird way Peter put his hands on his head kind of felt like it could be another Mysterio (or his team) illusion. Now that they have that out there... almost anything can be a convincing illusion. I can see the opening of Spiderman three being Peter with his hands on his head with Mysterio coming up behind him to hit him. After a day to think on it I think this movie is going to go lower in my esteem. What an elaborate plot to get the glasses from Peter. Everything had to go just right for it to work, including, not having the real Fury there, and Peter being in a childish mood. How convenient. Mysterio wanted to be the next Iron man? How is that? When the next Thanos shows up, he aint going to be fooled by your drones. Seems convoluted.
  10. Just back, I have to say this was not the best Spiderman for me but still good. The good: - loved the recap showing the kids being dusted followed by the clip of them returning. - loved the origin of the name Mysterio - ie in another country that is how it sounds to americans to say man of mystery and the name stuck. - loved the effects of Mysterio. That was spot on as to how it is in the comics. I really didn't think they would be able to pull it off. - loved Peter's melt down. - loved the first end credit scene with the daily bugle.net. I couldn't figure out how that would get on a NYC video screen but of course mainstream media picked up the story, as they would. Died laughing at the massive photo of Peter Parker up on the screen. - loved that they made it clear that Peter's spider tingle has been, up to now, spotty, fixing the issues with Homecoming. Also loved that it saved the day. The bad: - I am completely tired of watching reluctant hero Peter. That was all the Rami films were about, which is why Homecoming was fun. And I didn't really think it fit. After watching your mentor give his life to be a hero, imho you would be even more inspired. Not wanting to blow things off. Peter would have given those glasses to a homeless man if it meant he could go back on his trip. That is exactly the Peter who got Uncle Ben killed and I don't like to see it. - Everyone talked about Zendaya having more to do here, but I didn't see it. The moment she figured Spiderman out she became a damsel in distress. IMHO the kids should have just gotten out of there and not been in specific danger. To that end I thought Ned's character was poorly served the entire time. He so was not the guy in the chair for this entire movie. The ummm ok: - I have no idea what to make of Fury being a skrull? Does this mean at various times the skulls have pinched hit for Fury or even avengers?
  11. My head cannon is that Hulk wished them all back and alive so maybe the stones brought them back but made adjustments if the place they were returning to would not be good.
  12. Isn't the whole thing in the can and long ago filmed? But I don't think they will put him with her just because no one wants to see drug dealer romance. Though I wondered if Fez is supposed to be like one of them, ie, a very small time dealer who just maybe was a couple of years older than them in school. But I don't get Rue's obsession with Jules. She doesn't seem that great. I was wondering if Rue's NA sponsor will help her see how she gets obsessed with things, including Jules. It was funny but kind of seemed like it belonged to another show. Took me out of the show for a minute. Rue hasn't been portrayed as someone who has Ally McBeal interludes in the past.
  13. Ok I though it was just me but last night I saw a shippy video on you tube for Fezz and Rue. I think he is in love with her. There wouldn't be many drug dealers out there if they cut off people that couldn't handle their product. I suppose the good news is that when that came on I had zero idea who any of those people were.
  14. Maggie isn't working for me. The plot isn't enough. I don't really care about her and she seems the "co lead" she is on screen so much. David is starting to act like an idiot. The first episodes he seemed more intelligent behind the silly boy act. But now it seems more silly boy. I thought eventually they were going to reveal that David was like Amanda -- former city guy -- but now I am starting to wonder if they have anything in common. They entire court storyline was spouting levels of insanity that took me out of it. They get their trial in a matter of days. Amanda's big city lawyer also happens to practice family law? Amanda's speech -- not under oath either -- wins the day? Really? I think Lifetime is burning this show off.. maybe that is a good thing as I am not sure they have the plot to sustain it.
  15. I hated it as well. Who asked for this movie? A remake of a remake?
  16. Here is the thing I feel bad about... so far the supporting cast is leaving me cold. They just aren't compelling enough when Mandy is off the screen. I think it is going to be a problem. Even David is starting to get a little boring. I happened to see the next episode as well - perhaps by accident - as my on demand just loaded it when this one was done. But if you have on demand you may be able to see it.
  17. I thought this was a really brave movie. Muriel just basically comes out and says it, marriage is just a big game that people use to "win". And she wanted to "win" but winning wasn't really worth it. You can see a little of that edge in PJ Hogan's Hollywood movie, my best friends wedding. It was also brave to portray someone who was just fine but didn't have a big dating background or wasn't attracting the guys like crazy. Also I thought it was brave to portray Muriel's mom as killing herself just because she seemingly thought everyone else would be better off with out her. I saw this movie the first time when I was living away from my mom and I remember really thinking of it when I returned to visit. Finally, should I feel bad at any time about my life I am grateful I don't live in a town called Porpoise Spit.
  18. When I saw 13 reasons why I was like, none of this would have happened if they didn't go to the party.. and same thing here. These supposed issues that teens deal with wouldn't happen if they didn't go to these parties. But most kids don't go to these parties, because they aren't hip enough, or their parents wouldn't let them or, if they do go, they just end up in the corner alone. So right off the bat this show seems disingenuous. All the *issues* they choose to focus on could best be classified as sexy ones. Even Rue's highs all have pretty colors and lovely times. Though I did laugh at Rue learning not to bike while high. But I admit at first I thought this show would be mostly about her and drugs. How do all the other characters fit under the title of Euphoria? I am sure it will be some strained explanation.
  19. I think the entire Dark Phoenix saga is the problem. It is outdated. Plus many other stories ape it - I even feel GOT's ending was a rif on it. I think when it was written women weren't powerful so it was great seeing a powerful woman who of course, would then not be able to handle it. Cause women are weak you know and don't know how to deal with true power. But plenty of women handle power today and we don't go mad... so it is grating to me to even see the story. And I know it is the Phoenix force, blah blah blah, but I think the original writers had to jump through hoops to make that up so it wouldn't be considered sexist but it still is same old same old.. women can't handle power.
  20. I just saw this today, i was completely spoiled. I liked it. I think it was just as good as infinity war just a tad too long. Thoughts. - Captain Marvel was hardly in the thing. - Why did Thanos seem so much stronger than he did in infinity war.. when, in infinity war he had the gauntlet? - Didn't like Nat choosing to sacrifice herself. Same old.. if you have a family you are more important bull. - I try not to get all into it but when they all came through the Dr. Strange Portal with Sam's "on your left" I defy you not to want to scream HELL YEAH. Defy you!
  21. Now that I am seeing these You Tube videos pointing out all the problems it is really really bad. I am now wondering what happened. Watching a couple of season 7 episodes the quality is SOO much better. Even though season 7 was a drop. It is like they just gave the scripts to an entirely new group of people who hadn't watched the show at all.
  22. Ugh another one that just looks horrible. I literally don't have a clue what this movie is about except I am horrified at how old Linda Hamilton and Arnie got. This franchise is just so done. Give it up.
  23. Everyone keeps talking about how if they squint really hard they can deal with the ending.. but I can't kind of because of this. Having the woman, the young nieve, beautiful woman go "mad" is such a cliche. Now I am not a woman's activist but choosing Dany, of all the characters, to take the rotten turn falls into years long tropes all based in the idea that beautiful woman have power over men and the way for men to level the playing field is women's Achilles heel... they are mentally unstable. What did Dany need any man for at the end of season 6? Not much. She had bent legions of men to fight for her with her looks, sure, but her good nature, bravery, and ruthlessness. Yet she wasn't prone to indulgences in puppy love or silly romantic pairings. Then comes Jon Snow. Well, what did she really need him for? Not much. Honestly, all guys think the good looking woman should want them because they are nice - that is it - even though they really have nothing special to offer. And this storyline certainly apes that. A strained love affair with Jon only weakens Dany and promotes Jon. But why? Cause Jon is the "good guy". So of course the heroine should fall madly in love with him... So if they really wanted to subvert expectations it should have been Jon, being killed. Perhaps he was made a white walker by the night king or for some other reason. Dany being the reasonable and resigned person who had to kill her love -- again. It also just would have worked with the story so much better. Jon's story really was over. He has not really done much interesting since dying the first time. The battle of the bastards wasn't that interesting to me and he lost. Dany had a whole promising life to live filled with endless story possibilities. Dragons, uniting Essos and Westeros, breaking the wheel and rolling up her sleeves and fixing things. What would that world have been like? Dany birthed dragons, free slaves, raised an army, and took the iron throne back by what.. the age of 22? What would her next 30 years been like? But she broke the one rule for a woman character.. you can't be too good. Now I know there is some talk about how women are turning into Mary Sue characters. But Dany was not a Mary Sue. She struggled and earned every name they had for her. She was the real thing... this story's "the one" but the temptation to take her down so they could push Jon up was too strong. Instead we get Bran in his chair, Tyrion really running things, and Jon playing cave footsie with the free folk. Nothing much changed and I don't really want to imagine any of it. It was all just a waste of time. Is that the message? Cynical and unimaginitive. If someone had to die, it should have been Jon.
