Just saw on a TAR fans Facebook group . . . Justin & Diana are expecting. There’s a picture of a onesie with a globe, with “The World Is Waiting For Me” over that. One, I don’t hate Justin enough to not like the announcement. Two, that probably explains why they’re not on TAR31. Diana even put in an “ETA” for December 27.

Great episode. Silent, traumatizing Monsters, Inc. sketch, adult Susie trying to get lover Calvin to pee on her, superb Parker Bros bit (the “oh, Jesus H. Christ” moment, following by the Parker Brother whipping out Sorry!, was golden), and a failing businessman inadvertently kills the Scooby Gang. Also, I think the show abridged Gravity. It was the movie mixed with a leaping cow, right? ETA: Oh, and here's Helga from Hey, Arnold! Happy nightmares!!!

Is it weird that I knew Santa was played by Bobby Moynihan on his eyes? Also, the Kathie Lee/Hota highlights kinda make me wish Kirsten Wiig was still playing KLG. I feel bad for Mexicans, between their impending election and the obnoxious neighbor upstairs. For an appetizer? The sex-ed scene in Scandinavia.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
@Vermicious Knid . .. I get that. I will confess that seeing Star Platinum in a baseball uniform is somewhat amusing. I have no idea if/when Diamond Is Unbreakable will be dubbed. The only really big news on the anime front is that Vento Auero (or will it be Golden Wind?) will be adapted and aired in Japan (and presumably online in the U.S.) starting later this year. I'm contemplating setting up a manga thread, though you can only get an "official" edition from Viz of the first three volumes. I understand there are . . . unofficial ways to read later stuff, but I wouldn't know where to go. And there might be a need to chat about the various volumes in this forum. I don't know. -
I found out a few hours ago . . . Westworld finale is running 90 minutes, so tonight's episode is set for 11:30. Spread the word! And remember to #notallfoxes!!

My Hero Academia - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Hero Academia
Person A: Okay, what do we got for a costume request? Person B: Well, this kid wants something edgy. Really edgy. Take a look. A: Wow. Gauntlets that look like grenades? That is hardcore. What's his Quirk? B: Explosions from his hands. He sweats a nitroglycerin-type substance, and he produces a reaction. A: That's a scary-ass Quirk. B: It gets better. He wrote notes about the costume. He's asking for a tube that would collect his sweat, leading to bigger booms. A: What's that scrawled in the corner? B: Lets see . . . "I'M GONNA BE BIGGER THAN ALL MIGHT, AND I'LL BLOW UP THAT INSIGNIFICANT GNAT DEKU!!!" (both look at each other) B: Well, lets get our group to make this costume. I would not want to be that "Deku" guy. What's next? A: Fancy suit for a twerp who can fire a laser from his navel. B: Wow. Ever think we got into the wrong business? Basically, the episode is mostly about Bakugo unable to deal with his punching bag now being able to punch back, and Midoriya trying not to use All For One while simultaneously trying to stay alive. Meanwhile, the ever-cute Uraka tries to figure out how to secure the bomb from wily Ilda, who tries too hard to get into a villainous mindset. In the end, Midoriya uses his quick wits to get a victory for himself and Uraka, but he All For Ones (AFO? AF1? A41) his arm to shreds uppercutting a hole in several floors. I'm really hoping UA has a lot more battle simulation building. And damn, Bakugo is such a shit. He has zero problems hitting his opponent in the back. He and Ilda probably had the best chance to win than any other duo, but he basically said, "I'm gonna kill Deku, and the rest will sort itself out." ETA: The teaser for next week’s episode has Bakugo looking shocked, and another group of junior heroes doing the simulation . . . including the invisible girl. -
1. No, I think he's being saved for the next episode, as seen in the trailer below. I could see Goku reading Dr. Slump if he never met Arale way back in the day. He was probably an illiterate kid, but the cartoons would have been fun for him to look at. ETA: Vegeta in a suit. WHY?!? Can't wait to find out. 2. Another reason why I like the Team Four Star abridgements: Shenron is way over those people. "Oh, it's you guys. Who died?"
-
I'll need to rewatch. Also, it looks like Conti died for our sins. I kinda liked that guy. Last week, I didn't catch that the fake girlfriend's dad was Amarao. I like how he's wearing a hat, so you can't tell if he has eyebrows or not.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion

Is there a place with deep dives for references? Because I saw the Red Dragons' pitching roster, and I think they're supposed to be the 1986 Boston Red Sox. I noticed "Sambito," and "Oil Crown" HAS to be Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd. I can't tell if the Jaguars are based off any team. "Tigers" is my first guess, though Jotaro's pitcher wears 41, and Tom Seaver is the only guy I really associated with that number . . . though the last time he played for New York was 1983. Anyway . . . D'arby the Younger foils Kakioyin in car racing, and Kakioyin loses his soul. Jotaro steps up to the plate to play that timeless video classic, Oh! That's a Baseball! Usual battle of wits, as Jotaro fumbles through the controls before hitting four consecutive homers in the first inning. D'arby hurts my soul by telling Jotaro the game ends if one team leads by eleven points. POINTS?!?? Oh, and Oldjo insists on doing loud commentary a few feet from Jotaro's ears. That can't be good. That might have caused Kakioyin to lose his race. The story takes place in 1987. What the heck video game system is D'arby using? I can suspend disbelief . . . but changing the looks of your players to match the Stands? The only thing I can think where that happens is with a Game Genie, and I don't think those were around. Or maybe Japan has always been several years ahead of the curve. I found this. "Bruce Nipper" is an amalgation of Bruce Hurst (who won Games 1 & 5 against the Mets in the World Series) and Al Nipper. "Jeff Woodward" must be Rob Woodward, whom I do not remember. "Wes Wapper" sounds dirty, period. -
I thought it was funny, @Sandman87. Apparently, most of the gang is too dependent on Shenron. Seriously, Eighteen has been hooked up with Krillin for that long, and she doesn’t know what to get him? Roshi and Oolong are predictable. At least the pig can shapeshift these days. Can’t wait for him to start dressing like Mao again. Man, Goku was thinking of King Kai for once, but everybody screwed him. Maybe if he didn’t set things up so close to Capsule. And King Kai was too harsh on him in the end. At least he wasn’t a prick like Beerus. Destroyed the gem and the time machine. Serves Bulma right, but still . . ,

I associated that with an episode of Archer . . . and I'm wondering (sticking with Archer) if the walking piece of shit wishes he could have played the "fail" music from The Price is Right. I mean . . . even if he knew that the girl with Down's Syndrome was entirely imaginary, you'd think he'd have rock-solid evidence of that, just so he doesn't look like a complete fuck. Oh, and tuba in my head equals Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks. And that's why I can be annoyed by tubas. Anybody else see the GEICO commercial with Roy? -
AS will be airing a follow-up to Mr. Neighbor's House on Sunday. Lets see if it can match the weirdness of the original.

RW in the Media: Somehow the Show is Almost Relevant
Lantern7 replied to scrb's topic in The Real World
MTV pitching RW to other networks, streaming services. ETA: The Onion mentions the potential revival. Sort of. Also, TV Guide "Jeered" the idea. They used a cast pic from RW2, which . . . I mean, Beth and David, but that was 1993. Those kids seem so quaint compared to the last few seasons. -

“Womp womp.” I think the phrase “I can’t even” was created just for that moment. Plus side: Michael Kosta and Trevor roasting the hell out of Stephen Miller. I think Michael needs to lose the Venn Diagrams, but that one was funny. -

Well, at least it's over. You'll forgive me if I don't count this as "official," meaning that CT has two titles, not four. At best, Tony is on the same probation thing as Zach, in the sense that I want to believe there will be a time where I'd root for him, but he's probably still a dick. For now. Also, I want to see a GIF of Tony slowly rolling on the hoverboard. Final endgame: jump up and down a thousand times. Put on clothes that were encased in ice. Jump up and down one thousand times. That is The Inferno-level fucked up. What, they couldn't find itching powder and treadmills? At least the final mission was interesting. Only thing as funny as rolling Tony was Wes ripping on Casper in his talking head. Does anybody have the exact quote? I don't remember how Casper was a bad guy . . . mostly because I didn't care. Also, Wes makes up for Johnny's absence by losing respect for Louise . . . somebody who took notes of his gameplay. Do we call him "Weston Watermelons" now? Hoverboards made me cringe . . . aside from Nicole, I don't want to remember RW: Skeletons. I'll have to check my posts from back then . . . I may have openly wished for one of those to catch fire while a housemate was riding it. My best guesses: BMP didn't like Johnny using a kid from the Special Olympics to try and not get eliminated last time, or Special Olympics told him to shove it. Hey, MTV didn't make us wait two weeks to see who won! Yaaaaaaaaaaay. #FaintestPraise -
Phillie Phanatic had a bad night.

I can't really see that. Looking back, I would have thought Darling would be considered the dreamy one. Bobby picked up the slack when Dwight Gooden flagged (*koff*koff*). Also, Frank Cashen looked like a genius because Calvin Schraldi went to Boston in the trade for Bobby. Cut to Game 6, where Schraldi imploded after getting the first two outs in the tenth inning. He might have been a sleeper agent for all we know. Of course, since the Mets are a star-crossed bunch, Bobby had the freak hedge clipper accident that took him out of the NLCS in 1988, where he might have made a difference against the Dodgers.* Also,he survived the boat crashed that killed two of his teammate with the Indians in '93 (I think). *Yes, I know Dodgers were on a mission from God. Mets were lucky to take it to seven games. And now I'm hoping get hurt. Wasn't he the guy that had a collapsed lung last season?

Read the first issue with Seven. I think it leans too hard into fans from the McCoy era. The run up to Thirteen’s series is still going on, and I had to share this cover. ?

Once again: depressing shit offset by hope. In this case: Wilmer Collins, an African refugee who now serves as mayor of Helena. Poor Roy . . . it took all he had to keep his head from exploding. Also, the president hugs a flag, and Fox News are enablers. ? -
From February: Ninjas (and Akbar) with their pets. I think I found the link trying to find pictures of Alan Connealy's dog, Kenobi. He is a freaky-looking guy, and it's the awesome kind of freaky.

I wouldn't say that Labreckfast Club was the longshot or even a dark horse. But the guys are not in the upper class of ninjas. Jon could make the leap this year. Shit, he can always make the leap because he's so damn tall. Jesse does make a case for being in the top tier of female ninjas. I'm hoping she clears Stage One. Anybody else feel bad for JJ Woods? He was great in NvN, but he didn't qualify for the regional final. I know that happens to a lot of established veterans, but it sucks when the victim is a nice guy. Also amused that Tiana got to run against her old team. I'd like more NvN. My main worry is that the need to create conflict on the course will lead to injury . . . or even worse, unfriendly rivalries. Look at The Challenge . .. same damn people every season, and they also go after each other with knives. Imagine Meagan Martin clearing the Warped Wall in a Regional Final, only to get crowbarred in the back of the knee by Jessie Graf. I don't want that.
