From what little I’ve seen, @Lamb18, the typical houseguest is messed up. Like, worse than anyone from The Challenge, and those people have problems.

Season Three and Beyond: FFwSB
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Full Frontal With Samantha Bee
@purist . . . that reminds me that I’m a bit sad Jim Jefferies’ show (pretty good, BTW) is off the air for a few weeks. He’s Australian, and I’d totally see him say that word nonstop for five minutes. Funny that Sam got into the frying pan after a few jabs at Ivanka, yet there’s no outrage at her roasting of Rudy . . . and I thought she was so much nastier with him. I’m hoping TBS doesn’t do anything drastic. I know that Jon Stewart’s disciples are plentiful and have shows of their own, but Sam is at the top . . . or at least slapfighting John Oliver for that spot. -
. . . and the forum is up. Have at it!

My Hero Academia - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Hero Academia
Who else is watching? Basically, kid lives in world where 80 percent of people have superpowers (re: "quirks"). This being a shonen anime, he's the one in five, and he feels like shit. He befriends the super hammy hero All Might, and he decides to let Midoriya inherit his power, All For One. I'd do some cute spoof scene, but I have to go to bed. So far, it looks good after three episodes, and Midoriya isn't as strangle-worthy as Asta from Black Clover. -
Is that the one with the Hello Kitty-like red panda who releases tension by doing hardcore heavy metal karaoke? Naturally, I wonder if she's a fan of Lord Krauser II and/or Detroit Metal City.

S10.E01: Dallas City Qualifiers 2018.05.30
Lantern7 replied to Lantern7's topic in American Ninja Warrior
While I can understand the annoyance of Kacy stopping by, I don't see the problem. If she's from the area, and the producers want her behind the mic during Brent's run, I'm cool. I admit she could have turned the offer down, and that the producers and NBC still love her a little too much, but I was good with it. Now, if she goes to other qualifiers, and has to go out of her way to do so, then I get "Kacy = fetch." At least they showed the bit of Brent climbing up the side of the final obstacle to greet her. Still a grandstand move, as far as I'm concerned. I'm good with Daniel . . . for now. I don't see him as a "God-botherer." And he probably doesn't need divine help on the course. I'm tickled that an actual priest showed up to run, as opposed to Sean Bryant. Didn't someone here call him an IT guy for his church? Oh, and Kevin Klein is/was a flag runner for the Dallas Cowboys, so I understood him being escorted by the team's cheerleaders. If only somebody came in riding the bull. Was that Bevo?? -
Season Three and Beyond: FFwSB

I’m good with it. But I’m a guy, and I tend to have a mad-on about the presidency, so I tend to be good with such things. It should’ve been cut, but Sam shouldn’t be put through the wringer in general. She said it “mother-to-mother.” Good enough for me. Sam got a little more negativity from the audience about Rudy Giuliani. She was rolling so well, but there was the clip with Rudy incoherent on TV at 9:12 a.m., and she quipped about how he tends to fade after “nine-eleven.” Sickest of burns, and the brief curtsy was earned, but I would’ve thought she’d be shat upon for that. -
Weirdest possible merchandising crossover involving AoT? Probably not, but it's up there.

TDS 3.0: Season Three Talk

They're normal-sized. Probably like shaking a sausage patty with five links attached by toothpicks. I liked Roy's Starbucks video. It amuses me when something happens, and all locations shut down for a few hours for reorientation. -
@attica . . . haven’t Yankee fans been sick of Rudy? Being “America’s Mayor” and constantly giving the team “mouth present” can only placate the fan base for so long. I’ll understand if you neglected to tell your friend that detail. ?

Nobody set up a thread? Dang. Well, we kick off one of the best summer series with people trying their best in Dallas . . . and that means Kacy Catenzaro drops by for commentary and a front row seat to Brent Steffensen wiping out. Big news this season is not only is there a plus-sized Warped Wall with a $10,000 prize for clearing it, the minimal age has been lowered to 19. That means hotshot proteges of established ninjas get to start on Midoriyama sooner than expected. Only guy to clear the Mega Wall (or whatever it's dubbed) is Daniel Gil. Run of the night? Jon Stewart. Yes, our favorite fiftysomething ninja returns (nickname: "Rock Man"?), and he manages to clear the course. Old Guy succeeding = major wood for Matt & Akbar. Oh, and two rookie lady ninjas made great impressions. BTW, is there something wrong with the forums? I had to add the date and episode number manually.

S02.E07: Champs vs. Stars: Go Deep, or Go Home
Lantern7 replied to OnceSane's topic in The Challenge
"Today, we're going to see how smart Jozea is by giving him an anchor and telling him it's like a pair of water wings. Stay tuned!!!" Why can't I quit this shitshow? Too many format changes. I'm thinking maybe half of the charities involved are regretting getting involved. Also, I'm willing to bet Special Olympics told Johnny to take a season off. Anybody want to point out that Shane is an obnoxious shit? He's one of the bigger disappointments of the last few years. I didn't have problems with him in his first four Challenge tours, but he just sucks now. Sadly, the rest aren't much better, and I'm still nervous at the prospect of CT backsliding. I did get a chuckle seeing the clip of him challenging Mike. -
Season 3 kicks off in select North American cities July 10-11, along with a recap of the second season.

That reminds me: is it me, or are there a lot of empty seats at games? I watch highlights, and the swaths of vacancy are ever present. Am I imagining that?
-
Well, at least the Mets weren't home. I can imagine the headlines. Big one: "NOAH'S DARK!" Underneath: "Freak Fire Burns 'Thor's' Pretty, Pretty Face, Hair" Underneath that: "Yank Fans Shrug, Wonder Whether to Call Kids 'Aaron' Or 'Judge'"

@Lamb18 . . . I’m trying not to make generalizations about folks that watch Big Brother. I watch The Challenge, so I shouldn’t talk that much smack. In my head, that series and TAR are too far removed from each other to successfully bring a significant chunk of audience from one series to another. Adding Survivor folks doesn’t make things much better, even if women are brought in that Probst never gave proper due. New question: is there such a thing as a housemate that doesn’t more or less beg to be choked out?
-
So Drab > Camo? Oh, and the Mets lost in a walkoff. Of course. It’s weird . . . fans probably see the wheels coming off, yet they’re not that far behind the Nationals.
-
1. I noticed uniforms were darker this past weekend. Did I miss something? 2. Mets now have eleven players on the Disabled List. Eleven. Aren't there trainers that would have to take the fall at this point? 3. Mets up 6-3. Me: "Braves have the bases loaded. They're probably going to tie it." I do stuff, come back to the TV . . . and yep, 6-6. #FudgeMyLife

In anticipation of the upcoming new season of FLCL (aka Fooly Cooly): I've been meaning to post here more often. Maybe I'd be more motivated if others felt the same way. ?

Cannibals. Because why not?!? ETA: Lana has different parents, but the hilarity is still there. Noah returns to annoy Archer and Pam. Real talk: has there ever been a character played by David Cross that you didn't want to punch? The rest is a blur of idol-seeking, mixed with Archer referring to Pam as "Lenny," which . . . dude. No. Just . . . no. Oh, and this Cheryl has l33t tracking skills.
-
Are there any fans of Big Brother reading this? Or at least anyone who watches and tolerates it? Given the rumors regarding TAR31, I want to know the appeal of CBS’ summer standout. I want to see if there’s any overlap. Oh, and I will not judge anyone who cops to watching BB.
-
“Asshates”? ? I just want confirmation on the theme, one way or the other. I can’t imagine anyone from Survivor I’d want to see. I mean, there’s Sandra and Cirie, but that ain’t gonna happen.

Meet Lambington. There might be a surplus of photogenic smooth-coated Shar Peis in this world. Honestly, I thought that was an unused video of Paddington.
