Basically: sixty minutes of Probst huffing off alpha dudes and his own ego, while hoping that everyone forgets how nasty the prior season was. Or how stupidly S38 ended. Nice bits with Amber. We haven’t seen her since TAR11, right? Of course, she probably won’t admit that she was pretty far down the list for S8 casting, or that three of the four votes she got were more about saying “fuck you” to Rob. It was nice that we got to see also-rans like Christian and David Wright. Maybe Cochran didn’t make the beta male spotlight because he’s got a better gig than coming back to Survivor? Of course, Erik gets dragged through the mud for his dumbass move. Even if he wasn’t medically booted in his second time, we’d still hear that story. At least we got to see James get booted with two idols. “That’s not an advantage.” I don’t think Probst and Co. handed him the idols on any level, but that final twist seemed geared for a dominant player one last chance to stay in the game. And I’ll say it again: if the other players didn’t want to suffer one “Ben Bomb” after the other, they would have tried to prevent him from scoring idols. He could have done the equivalent of Arthur Fleck dancing down the stairs, and I wouldn’t have blamed him. I only count FvF and GC as unusual. She does earn a seat next to Bobby Jon at the Butthurt Conference (lost firemaking Challenge to Stephenie; got idoled out by Gary). I wasn’t thinking “irate.” I’m not sure if either of them committed to WaW before IOTI. But if she sends him packing early? I’m all there for it,

TDS 3.0 Season Five Talk
Lantern7 replied to scarynikki12's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
In the wake of SOTU, the acquittal, and certain people gloating, it’s hard to feel positive. But Trevor Noah takes a little of the hurt away. Also helping: Roy donning the graying mustache for “CP Time.” And like his Uncle Beebo, I like Oreo Blizzards as well. -
Got an e-mail from the Mets . . . Opening Day is fifty days away.
-
Well, he did shred Ian’s soul in the last few days. And since he’s a silver-haired dad, Probst wouldn’t sing his praises. I don’t think Probst is into “daddies,” figurative or literal.
-
The only person I think of is Tom Westman. I think of him as the Kool-Aid Man of Palau, winning all but two individual immunity idols. But the two times he was vulnerable, nobody voted for him. I think Tom’s win might have inspired hidden idols. I also think that things might have played out differently with a DYB moment. Oh, and I heard he had an illness related to working at Ground Zero. I know he’s not that popular, but it would’ve been fun to see him go for a third time.

TDS 3.0 Season Five Talk
Lantern7 replied to scarynikki12's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
In regard to Jordan . . . why is it that people running a rally don't give the others a heads-up about someone that would make them look like fools? I like the results, but you'd think people would have gotten head shots of potential jokesters, including the entire TDS news team. -
I know. When I heard the Red Sox might peddle Betts, I thought it would be funny if he wound up with the Mets, since they had what I believe to have been the first "Mookie" in fan favorite Mookie Wilson. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
-
Dang. So much for Betts going to the home of the Original Mookie. That wasn't a total pipe dream, right?

Well, the local station is running the State of the Union . . . so I have sixty minutes on my hands. I might as well post about tonight's episode. Hey, we got a map of Earth-Prime from Cisco! I thought that only the Paragons knew what happened prior to Crisis. I guess he got a visit from J'onn J'onzz: M'edicine M'ann. I didn't expect Gotham City to be that far west. Metropolis is near the NYC aream while National City is on the other side of the country. Freeland is in the south, probably in Georgia (I saw a reference earlier this season). And Gorilla City is on Earth-Prime! Also, Cisco now has a Superman t-shirt he doesn't remember getting. Must be a day that ends in "Y" over at STAR Labs! With Barry going on a wild Mirakuru chase (ah, memories of second season Arrow), we get Iris playing reporter. That was fun, though I wonder if that would be toned down if we get Lois Lane on a weekly basis like we might in 2020-2021. Looks like we're getting Black Hole from new52-era DC Comics. Sadly, the stinger was telegraphed for me . . . sometimes, it sucks to know the comics. I'm thinking that if we do see Eva McCulloch, she'll have an accent that can dent steel. I was okay with Diggle dropping by. Barry winds up thinking Oliver left him a clue, which meant a jaunt to Lian Yu, located inside a dead zone where Iris can't reach him. At least Diggle didn't chunder this time. Good for him. I thought Dr. Light was new. I forgot the "original" was Earth 2 Linda Park. This one is Kimiyo Hoshi. Looks like the Crisis references are still coming on strong.

Heads up for anyone in the NYC area: PIX-11 is running State of the Union instead of tonight's episode. That will be aired Saturday night. While I'm guessing most of us can see it on demand, I'm really upset. Apologies to @scarynikki12 if I crossed a line. I just didn't want anyone to be surprised.

I’m on a Challenge Facebook group, and most of the posters echo my thoughts. Mainly, I hope she’s living her best life, I hope she has a healthy kid, but it would probably be for the best if she doesn’t come back. Relapsing back to being an asshole is basically the sword that I always see hanging over CT. Camila is probably better away from BMP.
-
Yes. That was what I was thinking. If it’s less expensive and if it could ensure a place on the CBS schedule, it might be worth looking into. No Weavers, though. 😜

Welcome back, @Sandman87. I don't know how many more episodes are left, but we're building to a few events that are shown in the credits. Senku: Okay, so me and Chrome are going spelunking to acquire tungsten. I'll need a third person for the trip. Kohaku: I need to train people for battle! Kinro: I will go if I am needed. Ginro: No thanks! I'm good here! Senku: I dunno . . . if you stay, you might start shoving light bulbs up your ass. Ginro: (outraged) HEY!!! (thinking for a bit) Wait . . . I can do that?!? Gen: That's an image I'll never get out of my ind-may! Kaseki: I ain't makin' anything for the butt! Unless you need me to. Then I can probably knock that out in about a day. I LOVE CRAFTING!!!!! (clothes explode from his old, muscular body)

Okay. Given: TAR might be more expensive to produce than Survivor and Big Brother. Possible Solution: What if . . . and I REALLY need you guys to keep your minds open for this . . . TAR did a season limited to the United States or North America? I know, TAR8 didn't go over well . . . but what if teams didn't have to drive everywhere? It's a big country, so flying out every few legs would still be possible. I know a lot of the mystique lies in Americans seeing the world, but wouldn't a "localized" version be cheaper, making it more attractive to CBS?
-
If only. I could live with that, but the latter will never happen. Survivor brings in the good ratings, and they've plopped down in one spot, so things are cost-effective. Big Brother takes place on a glorified soundstage. TAR is probably seen as a once-a-year series . . . though I'm thinking CBS's unsaid line is "We'll air it when we air it."
-
There are some AS series where I wonder why they air them. MTM is one of them. Like I've said, the absurdity is pretty choice, and one recent episode might have opened up new plotlines, but it's still "meh" a lot of the time. Of course, few things beat an old man thinking Marcus is his deceased wife, while Deezy's dumb ass is hanging from the roof, begging a little girl to get help. The episode in question?
-
Good episode. It felt hectic . . . but given the previous week, it felt like a "breather." "Great . . .we're at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, I'm trying to thwart a virus that thrives on the minute plastics in the human body . . . and there's the Master and 'Ruth' making out with each other. I think that's second base. I haven't been to a baseball game in a long, long time. Hold on . . . is that River recording those two?!?" It was fun to see the team split up. If the "fam" consists of four people, why not spread them over three locations on Earth? And swap them out when the plot calls for it? That's not a complaint . . . I don't think the writers of the original series would have done that given the limitations they faced. And if you want Yaz and her new friend to teleport themselves to a fourth site? Go for it. Transformations were oddly fascinating. I should have figured Jake wouldn't die. The Doctor really, really, REALLY needed a win. Sure, she pulled the same "materialize the TARDIS around the guy" shtick with Jack way back in the day . . . but screw it, "Jack" and "Jake" are close enough, right? I'm not regretting DVRing this to watch the Super Bowl. In a perfect world, BBCA would have moved the air time to before 6 . . . though I'm guessing legalities would have gotten in the way.

S03.E12: The Book of Markovia: Chapter Three: Motherless Id
Lantern7 replied to Trini's topic in Black Lightning
Good news: TC and Jenn bring Khalil back! Bad news: not only is Khalil toxic to the point where he can't be touched, he has access to Painkiller's memories . . . including the bit where he/they killed his/their mother. Um, yaaaaaaaaay? At least we're getting close to Freeland's Finest going to Markovia to stop all the shit this season has wrought. On the bright side, we get the cold open of Dr. Jace telling us how she's going to be Lynn's "bestie," immediately followed by Lynn attempting to kill her. That was hysterical. The guy working with Lynn was Gardner Grayle. I don't consider Atomic Knight to be that deep a cut, but it's still impressive to delve that deep into DC's archives. I mean, you can't just put him in armor. You'd need a giant Dalmatian for him to ride into battle. Otherwise, what's the point? I'm guessing the team is the Outsiders in all but name. Grayle coming in is fitting, since the end of the second Outsiders series had the team betrayed by Dr. Jace and plugged into a reality with the Atomic Knights. I should probably go to the comic thread. -
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Actually, that's the "localized" name. The Stand's original name is Purple Haze. The other Stand is Man in the Mirror. I dunno if any other Michael Jackson songs have been "covered" by Araki. At least it differs from J. Geil's Hanged Man from "Stardust Crusaders" . . . though Illuso looks like one or two past nemeses. Steely Dan, maybe? -
Super Bowl ad for Sabra Hummus. Zach King from TAR28 appears around 0:13. I know Vine has been dead for some time, but is he still keeping busy? ETA: In terms of TAR treatment, getting put on CBS's subscription service would suck, even if it was guaranteed Patrick Stewart would be the greeter at the end of every leg.

Oh, and fuck the XFL. Spring Training in less than a month!

I gotta bounce. My car is in the shop, and I need to take out the trash. Nice chatting with you, thanks for the likes! You think Andy will pitch Quaker Oats? He’s got the ‘stache already.

Congrats if you bet on orange Gatorade. Also? You have a problem.
