Wander, what an amazing, brave lady you are. So sorry to hear the bad news, but happy for the good. Is Maisie on disability yet? Please do look into that as well. <3

Rhodes Scholar Reporting the News Show Discussion
NextIteration replied to maraleia's topic in The Rachel Maddow Show
I do too because it seems to come and go. I hadn't gone looking but figured that it was an alleged affair. This situation scares me for the country with the debt ceiling and Planned Parenthood shutdowns looming. -
Agreed, but I don't think that RO and Kelli would have sent Chelsea to any of those places since they could afford to pay for the very best. A lot of the good ones are located in places like Utah because of the beautiful peaceful environment. Chelsea doesn't claim that she was abused and speaks very positively of her experience, given what that experience is. I was going to note that places like this generally don't just take a kid if there isn't a real necessity for treatment. So Chelsea has had problems, I was thinking about attachment issues as well, since she was adopted. Nothing about the interview surprised me either.

Ba ha ha, this show is cursed.

Daniel Webster Wins Conservative Republicans’ Endorsement for House Speaker This positively frightens me. I'm sure the general public isn't aware of this man's belief system.

Did you see that the Prince of Journalism is growing a facial hair a la Chuck Todd? And speaking of Chuck Todd - he belonged on that list as well! Our happy (hapless) Prince was in the thick of the McCarthy announcement yesterday and got far too much airtime. Joe in his glory this morning discussing "when I was in Congress". sigh The discussion never veered to how dangerous this situation is in the House with the debt ceiling and Planned Parenthood shut-down looming. It's beyond belief to me that 40-50 right-wing ideologues can hold the country hostage. Oh dear lord, Joe just defined Harold Ford as being on the "far-left". What utter bullshit.

MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)
NextIteration replied to Jaded's topic in Political Network Talk
So Kournacki gets moved to MTP Daily on Mondays and Alex Wagner gets whatever the morning show is going to be on Saturday and Sunday. I will miss Up (I suspect the new show won't be Up), though it was so much better with Chris Hayes. -
The 13 most punchable faces in America Two MJers! tee hee

Chuckles, how elitist of them! Holy heck, that focus group stuff about Carson is positively frightening to me!

Full Disclosure, I'll vote for the Democratic nominee. I have issues with both Clinton and Sanders and don't feel particularly pulled in either direction, of course for completely different reasons. I'd be happy with either of them as POTUS.

I've always contended that Joe Scarborough is the very first to receive the Roger Ailes "fax" (I'm sure it's an email these days) every morning, so that he can hide on so called "librul (sic) media" and deliver the Ailes talking points to undermine those damn libruls. It's funny though, Sanders is the insurgent candidate, just as Obama was in 2007. It's pretty clear that Ailes (and Scarborough) didn't believe that a Black man could actually win the White House (but they wanted him to be the eventual nominee), and now they don't believe that there is any way in hell that a 74 year old Socialist Jew from Brooklyn can really win the White House. The thing that makes these men pee their pants though, is Hillary as the nominee, and actually in the White House.

I have no idea why the heck Joy keeps stating that PP provides mammograms but I wish she'd stop. PP most definitely does provide abortion services at some of their clinics, I know in my metro area there a about six clinics but only one of them offers in-clinic abortion services. The approximate amount of reimbursement for services (not line appropriations or "funding) that PP receives from the federal government is 500m, not multiple billions. I have a really hard time staying in tune when Dr. Ben Carson speaks, I find him hard to follow, I think it's because I just can't believe what the hell is coming out of his mouth, but he sounds so friendly and soft spoken.

PP most definitely does provide 30% of abortion services in the US, and that is 3% of the services they provide. Here's the thing about the federal money - federal money that goes to PP is payed in a fee for service amount, just like any other insurance reimbursement. So there is nothing "fungible" about it, and no need for complicated accounting to prove it. If PP doesn't provide a service to a patient with Medicaid or Title X eligibility they don't get federal reimbursement. PP can absolutely never (Hyde Amendment) be reimbursed by the federal government for an abortion for a Medicaid or Title X patient unless it is for rape, incest or the safety of the mother, and even in this rare instance, they still can't be reimbursed for abortion in some states, since Medicaid is a state run program (that receives federal dollars, I believe that Title X works the same way) and some states have legislated away those exceptions. The GOPers, try to gloss over all those details by referring to normal insurance-like reimbursements for services rendered as "funding". Also for the record, Medicaid reimbursements are notoriously lower than other insurance reimbursements. So, PP raises a lot of money through donations, to a) make up for the low reimbursements and b) provide help to people seeking abortion that can't afford it amongst many other things like new facilities and the like.

The idea of the hard right trying to "sic" Fiorina against HRC is laughable. HRC has her issues with authenticity but she doesn't tell bald faced lies and repeat them ad infinitum until she turns purple in the face even after she's received 100 Pinocchios like Fiorina. It's not for nothing that Ted Cruz's Super Pac donated a half a million to Fiorina's, it is for her to remain strong to attack HRC further into the race.

1. She is an incredibly well qualified candidate. First Lady of AR, First Lady of the US, Senator, Secretary of State with gilded educational credentials from Wellesley and Yale Law. 2. Long record of fighting for female equality globally, equality of opportunity for children and fighting against income inequality. 3. Known for bipartisan solution seeking, hard work and encyclopedic policy knowledge. What's not to scare them?

I guess the 16 minutes I missed at the beginning are worth catching... off to find them! Paula, Paula, Paula, the photos in the fake PP videos were taken from Lexi Oliver Fretz’s blog about her stillborn son without permission. Warning the photos on her blog may be upsetting. And again, Paula? Title X is contraception for the poor, it has nothing to do with abortions, stop trying to spin it! Did they really mean to be speaking about third wave feminists and not millennial feminists? Clearly, Whoopi's never heard of intersectionality, and I thought it was weird that they were implying there weren't other choices, every.single.millennial. that I know is deeply excited about Bernie! That bit about Hillary being a misandrist was just bizarre.

Can someone remind me of how many emails from the Bush Administration were magically lost? And wasn't part of the huge AG investigation about Rove using the administration email servers for political ends? (I may not have these quite right, but on the whole I'm pretty sure that I do.) And Hillary is not going to be on this program unless and until she is the nominee - or becomes absolutely desperate in the primaries. Oops, I knew I mashed up the Bush Administration email controversies. It's always amusing when we get a huge pile of IOKIYAR.

"Cheap rhetorical tricks aren't going to get it done" says the master of cheap rhetorical tricks. For the first time in a long time, Mika actually tried on the gun issue. Anyone else want to punch Joe in the face when he went for the cheap rhetorical trick of turning the gun control subject to "Black people in Chicago"?* *This is not to say that the frighteningly rampant gun violence in Chicago isn't a very important issue, it's just not one that Joe champions, except to bring up the so-called "Ferguson effect" of police standing down "out of fear". Or to bring up the fact that though Chicago has very strict gun control laws, guns are so freaking ubiquitous there.

It seems so! I was totally unspoiled as to any aspects of this season so I clapped, grinned like a fool and shouted Sybbie! when I saw Tom. I can't believe this is the last season of my beloved favorite show.

Clearly I'm evil, but I don't really understand how intimating that you'll go to heaven and be with Jesus solves a child's fear of getting shot up at school. I honestly don't. I find it difficult to believe that most teens are that rock-solid in their faith (they may believe, but deep faith is another matter entirely). Oh I need to add that having Sherri and CCB echo each other on Team Jesus! is nauseating as well.

Ooooh, Joy looked like she wanted to smack a bitch at CCB going out of the first segment of Tepid Topics (on Friday)! Can we stop with Amy Holmes, I'd much rather have the announced contributor Ana Navarro, pretty please? And now I want to join Joy in smacking CCB and her judgmental uneducated ass. Danny showed so much grace under her crass questioning and statements.

As an acquaintance on this board that appreciates you, don't do that! Joe's bloviating and Mika's preening would probably make your head explode!

Exactly, Davis was amongst a group of many that visited the nunciature to see the Pope off from D.C. I came across this blog yesterday - and though I'm not sure that is exactly how the saga played out (much of it is conjecture) it provides some background that I think points to how Davis ended up amongst that group. I was happy to see the Vatican's statement this morning - it was beginning to seem like a shame that the Pope might have undone the liberal goodwill that he's gained from his trip to the U.S. Certainly, the Pope is not "liberal" in terms of church doctrine, but his pastoral papacy is a much welcomed change from doctrinaire papacies of the past.

He has managed to get two bills passed during his tenure in the House, renaming stuff in his district I believe. This is not what makes a person qualified to be third in line to the presidency. His malapropisms were even more alarming as he seemed to have been reading something written for him.
