It's so personal, it must have to do with Clinton/Carter administration issues and her father's role in Carter's administration, don't you think? She was almost as bad eight years ago but then the Obama enthusiasm by everyone in the media hid it better.

Thanks all for the further input about Cruise dancing, everyone. Back on the list of possibilities for gap year! ;)

The educational pedigrees of most of the women on Fox are top notch. Which I always find disconcerting.

I've no real idea of Jeffrey's complete profile cognitively, but is she indicating that he'll need to be supervised for life? Then I understand the necessity of planning for his life's future - but not on the damn Twitter! This woman just blows me away with what she Tweets, so inappropriate!

Another day, another cheap shot at Mrs. Clinton from Mika... "With Hillary Clinton driving 20 miles an hour" in the context of all of the GOP establishment candidates having heartburn about their primary prospects. What the hell? Mrs. Clinton just had the month of her life!

Personally, I get so balled up, conflicted and confused about the topic of hijab and burkas that I feel like if I speak on it I'll literally have rocks thrown at me. Is it their choice or not, I guess is what it comes down to. I mean, would they make the choice if they weren't forced to because it's the culture they know and religion they follow? I know it's really hard for me to see immigrants in my area have the very little girls in hijab and not exactly burkas but flowing tops and skirts, I have all sorts of "feels and thoughts" about that. Anyways, it confuses me enough and I feel so conflicted about it, that it's hard for me to criticize anyone else's thoughts about the topic since I'm such a mess about it. And of course I feel like somewhere in here I'm being a bigot somehow so that upsets me too. Anyways... Books without pictures, hmmm?

I completely understand this, but my daughter would disagree all day everyday with you. She was outraged by the "shouting" thing the night of the debate. But she's a college student that sees micro-aggressions everywhere. She texted me 10 times about it and I was sort of clued out what pissed her off so much - went flying right by me at the time. It's helpful if you go back and listen to it again to understand, I think. Apologies for veering off Rachel to answer - but it would be really interesting if Rachel would take this subject on. In any number of ways, from "what the hell is the HRC campaign thinking, please let's not repeat past mistakes" or, that there really are people out there that saw the debate and were outraged about the remark (it could have been taking either way) from a feminist perspective. -
So, all you cruise ship aficionados have convinced me to greatly discourage the dancing pre-med girl not to do cruise ships in her "gap year"! She plans to take a year to struggle in NYC and try to dance professionaly between her bachelor's and and taking the MCAT, but contemplated possible cruise ship auditions as well. Sounds like a bad idea to me! I've only been on one as a teen, with pretty "top deck?" accommodations because of my grandfather's affiliation with the line and it was an amazing experience (especially the incredibly hot Italian men serving on the ship that I crushed on!). Do you still have to dress really fancy for dinner every night? eta: The ACA, while I'm a huge supporter I could see when the dividing lines were first published that there was no damn way it was going to work for those that made just a skotch too much - that they would go broke trying to cover the premiums. And now? Employer provided insurance rates are beginning to skyrocket or have so much more additional cost sharing in deductibles, co-pays and co-insurance it's getting ridiculous. I don't want to get too political on this board, but really, medicare for all single payer was really the best way to go. It's high time we took the profit out of coverage, to me it's a sin that people are getting fantastically rich in the health insurance industry, because it's people's well being.

It seems like it, which greatly pleases me, I also looked up his webpage and his credentials are perfect for my mother's situation, he's board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology with a particular interest in complex angioplasty. Impressive, indeed!
-
She didn't specifically, it's just the concept that "all the youngsters" are huge Bernie fans.
-
Soooo, the angiogram didn't happen, creatinine levels were too high. Aside from "who's on first" now we have Goldilocks. ;) While at the hospital, the most competent cardiologist came calling and it was intimated that he is "the boss" so I feel a little better about the situation. He answered all my questions way beyond my expectation and spent about a half hour with us. Mom's issues are complex, and really everything does have to be "just right" to proceed. They'll look at kidney function in the morning via labs and decide whether to proceed or not, and if not, same thing the next day and so on until she's in shape for the procedure. At least she's out of the ICU later today, so it's baby steps.
-
Exactly. It's become horrifying to me what some people are using them for.

The DwtS losers have been relatively hit or miss in my memory. (Shhhhh, I can't read this forum until I catch up, don't want to be spoiled.) But if sort of seems like the losers don't start "getting the GMA/TheSpew treatment" until mid-season. I could be all wet here, but that's sort of my recall on the topic. (P.S. - I know everyone hates Allison and thinks she's "frenetic" in her choreography and resent the hell out of her existence on the show because she was not initially or ever a "ballroom competitor" but she's one of my favorite dancers in the world (and I can't tell you how much I love her and tWtich together and I'm so excited that they are expecting!), so please oh please don't let it be Andy this week!)

Meh, I remember how horribly Fineman eviscerated Clinton in 2008 (along with the rest of the media). I think that the Democratic Establishment has traded philosophies with the GOP Establishment and have gotten completely behind Hillary, because it's her turn AND it's high time we had a woman as POTUS - so it's time to fall in line instead of falling in love. Fangirling about getting the Clinton interview (outside of Mitchell) for MSNBC makes sense to me because it was a "Big Fucking Deal" to quote Biden. But I don't think for one minute that Rachel supports Clinton over Sanders, it would go against her belief system. What I do think though, speaking of Rachel and all the other "liberals" in the media, is that they believe that there is only an outside chance that Bernie's "revolution" will take hold, and they don't want Hillary beaten and bloodied like she was in 2008. They want her to be a strong candidate going into the general to beat the shit out of the Republican nominee, because in this era of exceedingly polarized politics Democrats cannot lose the White House or all bets are off. -
So, funny story Mika. My daughter texted me no less than 10 times the night of the debate, outraged by Bernie saying "shouting about guns". Now, I do think that Bernie meant all of us shouting and not Hillary shouting, but the way he said it could be interpreted either way. AND, Mika, now my 21 year old oh so important millennial daughter, has completely switched from FeelintheBern to supporting Hillary, because Gloria Steinem and feminism. So, long story short, Mika, maybe you don't understand some millennials as much as you think you do, (they see micro-aggressions EVERYWHERE) and it isn't so "Veep" of an issue. Maybe, just maybe, the Clinton campaign is playing this just right for young feminists? (I'm not stating this is the case for sure, just relaying my experience.)

Burlsa, feel better! My mom has an angiogram scheduled for 11 today. Long story short, she did not have pneumonia, she had a mild heart attack. The doctors are all over the place and I am trying to have humor about it so I refer to it as a game of "Who's on first". She's still in the ICU, they are not successfully treating her high blood pressure, she has kidney issues but at least she's back down to a cannula after B-pap and then something that looked like a cannula with a walrus mustache. Obnoxious people on FaceBook. Okay, this is the first time disclosing my disgust about this one out loud, ever, to anyone, lol. Someone that I know from years ago at my daughter's original dance studio from hell (which is a whole other story of horror), finally on the second much younger daughter bought a clue and pulled the second daughter out of the studio from hell to get decent training. Anyways, she has taken this daughter with terrible awful technique to Nationals (2-3k easily) almost every year - to compete her solos at the Novice (which is cheating because she trained far too many hours a week to compete as Novice) level, and begs every year for people to buy from all her MLM schemes to fund these trips (who goes to Nationals to compete on the Novice level?). Now that said daughter is at a somewhat decent studio, she auditioned and was accepted to a solid regional ballet summer intensive this past year, and up went the begging for money with an actual GoFundMe page! I was disgusted (but actually gleeful to see she only raised about $300). If you can't afford these things, don't do them!!!! And don't beg me, that somehow found a way for my kid to pay for your kid! There were years where my daughter had to do the local ballet academy's intensive because $750 instead of $2-5k for out of town intensives with boarding. It's doable to get good summer training, dammit! /rant (Apologies for a bunch of jargon that some might not understand because - Dance Mom over here, PHEW that felt good!)

She already did a few weeks ago, she sure takes after her mama!

Out of the 17 candidates for the GOP, five of them are Tea Party candidates essentially (three of them politicians two of them not) and of the three politicians, all three of them have only had major offices since 2010. (Walker, Cruz and Rubio.) All you have to do is look at the crazy polling to see that somehow - this country has been dragged so far to the right it's mind-boggling. I'll give Whoopi credit all day everyday (and y'all know how I feel about her generally) on the topic of reproductive rights. Mostly old white men of privilege need to stay the heck out of a woman's choices about her own body.

Same here, and all the old musicals. She's a dance major (pre-med guidance track) and an amazing performer. Triple threat actually. (sorry for the proud mama moment) Dear Skittl1321, don't apologize for anything. You now have an awareness that you did not before. I'm hoping that you get much better news as you move through this process, and all my best thoughts and hopes are with you. ♥

I'm hoping that Mark Penn has been permanently banned from "ClintonWorld". ::fingers crossed:: Now if only Lanny Davis would magically disappear. -
How vexing this show is. There are only a couple episodes left and so many loose ends! The clothing as always was fabulous, and the closing scene with Thomas was heartbreaking.

I agree to some extent, but this was a coup for MSNBC beyond the usual Andrea Mitchell access, and if CNN can have countdown clocks and incessant jabber about debates, I think this is one I'll excuse. But yes, MSNBC is losing viewers in droves, now that they turned away from there "Lean Forward" progressive point of view. -

That whole list of things he showed was mind blowing. The thing about Iowa is that it really runs the full gamut from far right to far left, so if we throw out the GOP caucuses we'd need to throw out the Democratic ones as well. I mean seriously, where else could someone like Joanie Ernst replace Tom Harkin in the Senate. (Sheesh, that still stings.) -

I think this may have been the best interview of Hillary Clinton I've ever seen. While Rachel staked out her more liberal position, she did a fabulous job teasing out new information from Mrs. Clinton. Very happy for Rachel, she did an awesome job, even while geeking out and being giddy. -
Cosmo - Friday's are Whoopi-less, but it was still a crappy show, even with Barney Frank and Tony Bennett, you didn't miss much.
