  1. Hrrrrrrrrmmmph. I'm bored. I'm bored with the co-hosts that even Joy can't save, I'm bored with decent tepid topics being cut off, I want to smack CCB, I'm bored with really effing stupid bizarre stories of "interest", this show even made me fast forward Tony Bennett. It was good to see Barney Frank. That's all I got.
  2. This. I've stated before that I could go either way (for completely different reasons) but the calmness, in the face of a bunch of mostly men playing gotcha with her for 9 hours of testimony spoke volumes to me. When it comes to relevant experience and foreign policy chops, she blows Bernie out of the water in my eyes. He'll still be great doing his thing along with Warren in the Senate.
  3. They do not, it's the Democrats that have Super Delegates, and a lot of them are already committed to Mrs. Clinton for 2016. I was watching for Robinson to go 180 after his appearance on The Last Word, he did not, but I am still not ready to lose my side-eye for some of his recent asshattery when it comes to Mrs. Clinton. Joe couldn't move off the topic of Mrs. Clinton's utter perfection during the hearing yesterday fast enough, douchecanoe. Back to Trump speculation because THERE'S A NEW POLL! And then speculation about Ryan as the new Speaker, I wonder why Robinson chose that topic and not Mrs. Clinton's successful showing at the circus, er um hearing yesterday for his column this morning. Did you see how much of a sweat soaked mess Gowdy was? Ba ha ha ha, that's what he deserved. Compared to Cummings, who didn't sweat a bead, and Clinton who's makeup was still perfection, the juxtaposition was hilarious.
  4. Lord help you if my mother was ever off having a baby or had any other medical malady that got you stuck having my father cook for you (outside of grilling meat)! Milk toast for breakfast and dinners made up of everything left over in the refrigerator for dinner. Scary stuff! Because my mom went off to work when I was about seven (working overtime for most the months from November through February every year), I purposed to learn how to cook easy dinners myself, so that we didn't starve or get food poisoning. lol
  5. Severe pneumonia, mild congestive heart failure and a mild heart attack, and this is a time my sister thinks it's appropriate to text. Sigh. She's too much of a mess to read the riot act to, we got to see both the cardiologist and the pulmonary specialist while we were there and everyone is confident of a good recovery, just might take awhile. I'm zapped.
  6. It's a sign of system failures, sort of. The brain isn't firing on all cylinders to keep the organs functioning properly which then causes the brain to fail a little more and it becomes a sort of loop back cycle. Anyways that's the way it was explained to me in lay terms. So, I typed up this long thing, but didn't post - my mom went into the hospital last night as well. Long story short, she is a 10 year lung cancer survivor with COPD, on oxygen with severe diabetes. She had a raging nosebleed so my cousin that lives with her and takes care of her took her in. My sister called me around 7 to inform me, the hospital is a 45 minute drive so I decide to wait it out a bit. At 10 I receive a series of texts from sister that she has severe pneumonia and may need to be ventilated. I text back essentially"how the fuck could she be so sick and nobody notices?" and get radio silence. Finally at midnight a few more texts that were essentially excuses along with "my phone died", but if you want to know the truth I think my mom and my cousin were drinking too much to notice. Don't even get me started about this texting nonsense instead of picking up one of those old fashioned telephone thingys.... So I called the ICU nurse at 4 and mom is doing well with a mask, O2 sats back up to 98 and tolerating all the antibiotics well. And people wonder why I can be a curmudgeonly misanthrope. Ha! Heading off to the doctor with son for his appt, and then off to the hospital.
  7. Oooh Bella, that's really interesting, I'm not exactly a red-head but I metabolize Novocaine wicked fast. I have freaked a few dentists and oral surgeons out in my day. Now I just warn them.
  8. Chuckles to self. I just figured out what ffHugs are, and with that offer some to barlsa, emma and bigskygirl!
  9. Teaching especially after graduation is generally a disqualifier. I mean teaching classes on one's own, not demonstrating or assisting. Conveniently, there are no rules easily displayed for New York Dance Experience..
  10. Positive thoughts for burlsa today! Way back thread I saw pickled herring referred to as Jewish, I think of it more as Scandinavian, along with lutefisk, lefse and limberger cheese. Gefilte fish strikes me as Jewsih. We loved pickled herring in a sour cream sauce on crackers and lefse with lingonberries during the holidays. Also good, butter the lefse, sprinkle with sugar cinnamon and roll up and pop in the mic for 20 seconds, YUM!
  11. Another gem from the brilliant Raven yesterday was the US working with Osama bin Laden? in the 70s. No, Miss Thang, we supported the Mujaheddin in the 80s during the Russian/Afghanistan war, or were you confusing our support of Sadam Hussein in the 80s during the Iraq/Iran war (Rumsfeld chuckling along with Hussein). Somehow, I don't think she's ever heard of Charlie Wilson's War, either.
  12. Payton, huh? She teaches at ALDC-LA, wouldn't that be a disqualification?
  13. I want a trophy for calling both Whoopi and Joy out for the day. For the bazillionth time, the servers are being investigated by the FBI not Hillary personally. Of course that flew by all the dumbasses on the panel so that BOR could get in his talking points.
  14. My grandmothers were French Canadian and Swedish and though both my grandfathers were German, not a bit of sauerkraut for Turkey day. We tend to use my paternal (Swedish) grandmother's recipes - but my maternal grandmother made corn and oysters and pork dressing. Now, nobody in my house will eat sauerkraut but I always have a can around to throw on brats, make reuben sandwiches or to make country style pork ribs (with caraway seeds, apples, onions and sauerkraut) for myself. Meatloaf - crackers (ritz or saltines), 1lb ground beef, 1 lb ground pork, 1 egg, 1 onion chopped and about 3 tablespoons of dijon mustard. It's a texture thing as to the amount of cracker crumbs, if it gets too dry feeling I'll add another egg. I put ketchup over the top of half of it, because my son likes it that way and nobody else minds it. My first Halloween with my daughter, I was alone because the SU always took my step-son trick or treating in his neighborhood. We were in a suburb very close to the poor part of a city and lots of kids were driven in. I was out of candy and a little scared within an hour, having brought my 2 month old to the door in costume in one arm and the candy bowl in the other and kids grabbing far more than their fair share. After that year, we just decorated a bit, put a bowl out and took her and then both kids trick or treating, when the bowl was out and we got home, lights out. I know, I'm a scrooge, lol.
  15. Nah, just spin and have Mika for breakfast for suggesting that Trump was correct. eta: oh yeah, Joe insisting that "we" support women getting ahead - that is only if they practice abstinence, of course.
  16. Kalani was in the group dance this past weekend, and they competed in the Sr division. Same source as last week, but you gotta scroll awhile.
  17. Wow, that incarceration rate is pretty damn high! Tee hee, couldn't happen to a more worthy person.
  18. I think that may be more intact now than it was. If the humor meter is a measure. ;) Back threading is definitely required. ;)
  19. Well my secret lesbian teevee lover Bailey healed that kid by finagling the HIV virus, so of course!
  20. Snickers, Kit-Kats and the dark chocolate Hershey's minis.
  21. Sweet baby jeebus, (we make this far more often than I care to admit because my kids love this terrible for you dish - and I live in the land of hotdishes) just use canned french-cut green beans! The stuff practically makes itself! My favorite part are the onions as well.
  22. Love it, eat it all the time, so many fun things to do with spaghetti squash, but it doesn't show up for Thanksgiving. There is only so much room on the table, lol!
  23. I linked the recipe in my eta - but just google Martha Stewart and Brussels sprouts and all kinds of yummy things come up. I hated them so much when I was a kid it was one of the very few vegetables I got away with not eating (well there were two the other was beets). Now I love them. Roasting them in the oven brushed with olive oil, sea salt and garlic sprinkled with a little Parmesan is delicious as well. Ooh, I forgot to mention the whipped cream from scratch that my sister makes for the from scratch pumpkin pie that is so full of rum you could get drunk off the stuff! Great in the coffee as well. My daughter is coming home from college this year instead of hanging with friend's families, I'm already excited!
  24. There is a delicious Martha Stewart one as well, bacon included, but sauteed with balsamic vinegar and onions. eta: oh wait, my naughty sister put the bacon in for extra temptation, lol.
  25. My grandmother's stuffing and gravy. She's gone, but we have her recipe cards. ♥
