  1. Color me stupid, but just now, thanks to an episode of MASH on which he played a guest patient, I just realized that Danny Noonan from Caddyshack played Fred on Roseanne. Duh!
  2. Not even close! Although Jefferson probably got a lot of his ideas for UVA when he was a student at W&M, so there's that. And while W&M is not a land-grant type state school, it is a state (i.e. not private) school, though it has never and will never be the largest state school in Virginia.
  3. It certainly should be. No one calls it by its full name -- it's either UVA or just Virginia.
  4. OF COURSE I miss an episode of J! where FJ is something about my home state! I hope it gets posted to j-archive later.
  5. Henry's leaving, and BJ's and Potter's arrivals are four of my favorite episodes.
  6. I can see the ending both ways. Dottie loved her sister more than she loved the game, and Kit loved the game more than Dottie loved the game. The win would mean so much more to Kit than Dottie, and Dottie wanted Kit to be happy and successful, so she dropped the ball on purpose. But it's also hard to believe someone as stubborn and competitive as Dottie was would throw the game.
  7. Perhaps, but it certainly wouldn't have helped me. I never left the secure part of the airport -- just had a long way between gates.
  8. For no reason that I can discern, I wildly guessed Lewis Carroll for FJ. Definitely not an instaget, and I was certain that I was incorrect with that stab in the dark. I was terribly sad that no one knew that William Frawley was Fred Mertz. That was the only TS I remember getting -- were there others?
  9. Not to mention that a one-hour layover isn't really one whole hour. By the time you get off the plane and get to your next gate/terminal, and the fact that they close the gates (stop boarding) about 10-15 minutes before the plane is due to take off, you're lucky to have ten minutes to relax or buy a snack. And if it's a big airport, you might just miss your connection with just a one hour layoff, even if you run. Come to think of it, it was in Miami that I missed a connection due to an inadequate layover, delayed landing (we were at the airport early and circled for about 30 minutes), increased security, and distance from one gate to the other. I didn't even have to change terminals, but got to the departure gate about three minutes after they'd closed the doors, and no way no how were they going to reopen to let me board even though the plane was still right there.
  10. I liked Liz' story, too, but I love Alan Alda despite how sanctimonious Hawkeye got in the later seasons of MASH. It's always nice to hear that celebrities you like because of their creative abilities are nice people in real life.
  11. I really wanted to dislike Sam, with the starting in the middles of categories (and I am glad he didn't win, for that reason), but I just couldn't because he reminded me so much of Jackie Gleason. Jon's Johnny Cash imitation was even worse than anything Alex has come up with. I was clueless for FJ, but did get Celebrity Apprentice and Swan Lake.
  12. The Boys are almost like the Energizer bunnies! I really thought they were going to beat Tara and Joey. But Joey really pissed me off with the comments to/about the professional gamer. Dude, he's just playing his game. Suck it up. Brooke was surprisingly less screechy and whiny tonight -- I guess she's only having fun when they're doing well. Hmmm, sounds familiar... Rooting for London and Logan now.
  13. Another instaget FJ for me, and I'm totally in the wrong demographic for that particular group. I also got corn and lima beans, Hebrew and Yiddish, and Climb Ev'ry Mountain. The Sound Of Music is one of my favorite movies, and I was lucky enough to be able to watch it at the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont when I was on vacay a couple of years ago.
  14. It always amazes me, the sounds Jim Lindsey gets out of his acoustic guitar.
  15. I totally forgot about that one! Was it really a TS? Astonishing. Add that one to my list of TS I got.
  16. I was all prepared to be pissed off if they hadn't made a correction for "preforations". I can't believe they ruled it right in the first place, it was so obviously mispronounced. FJ was an instaget for me -- I would have bet everything on a dog breeds category, though! The Westminster Kennel Club show is must-see TV in my house. TS I got included open-heart surgery, James and the Giant Peach and Argentina. For the rhyming category, I tried my best to figure out a rhyme for rustler for the person who moves cattle (instead of herder).
  17. But the Atlantic Ocean is warm! The first time I stepped into the Pacific in California, I was really surprised at how cold the water was, since I was more accustomed to the Atlantic.
  18. Without a doubt. With very few exceptions, I don't really know band members' names (see earlier post on remembering names!). But if they'd mentioned Steve Perry, we all would have complained that the clue was too easy. :)
  19. Kelly just seemed to give up, didn't she? She just looked so sad by the end of the game. Me, too, and it was. In my defense, when they showed the category, I went back to the 70s, to Zeppelin and Queen. I got confused by the year. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it! I did, however, get leisure, philtrum, Maryland, Wisconsin and Ted Hughes.
  20. Thanks, @ottoDbusdriver! I am terrible with names under real-life conditions -- names of people on TV are even more challenging for me to remember.
  21. The woman on the end won. The former champ bet everything but a dollar and missed FJ. Middle guy got it right, but didn't have enough going into final to beat the woman, whose name escapes me.
