Catching up from last night -- I correctly guessed Coachella, but couldn't come up with another music festival. Woodstock did cross my mind, but I quickly discarded it. Oh well. I'm off to a bad start this week for FJ! But I did get several TS, including two/too, Ethan Allan, matador, gleaners, Zero, Across the Universe, and Buddhism. Maybe tonight will be better for me for FJ.

I've never heard "BosWash" either, but it just made sense to me to name three large metropolitan areas between Boston and Washington. "Out of Africa" was a real head-scratcher of an answer.
-
I probably should have gotten FJ tonight, but I didn't. I was thinking more along the lines of Steinbeck, too. So many TS! I got Andes candies, "In The Heat of The Night", Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, "Blue Christmas", brandy, mud puppies, erratum, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore, and Farragut. I said corpus at the same time that Mayim did, so I don't count that -- I ran out of time. I did laugh at Karim saying that Ethiopia and New Jersey are developing nations. I also laughed at several of his truly off the wall guesses. But I will give him props for capitalizing on the Kroc response.

I'll see them sometimes on the ground under the feeders, picking up bits the other birds (and squirrels) have dropped.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
I remember the burning nuns, too! And still use that phrase on occasion. Do y'all remember the strudy tube? As far as annoying commercials, the Universal Studios one with the crash test dummies (possibly all the Universal Studios ads) annoys me with how they spell "Whoa" at the end. It's not "woah", it's whoa. (Otherwise, it's a good ad.) -
Everything seems to be working for me now. Thanks!

Or maybe she didn't want to pull him out of school? -
More like they know they'll get bombarded with hate mail and nasty-grams if they pre-empt FJ. Our weather people fuss at us all the time when they have to pre-empt Wheel or Jeopardy, insisting that a potential tornado is somehow more important than Final Jeopardy. Unfortunately, the only thing I can do about the weather and satellite TV is switch to cable.

4/5 for me this week.
-
Severe thunderstorms and tornado watches here blocked my satellite for the second half of Jeopardy tonight, so I had to check the archive. FJ was an instaget -- I've flown through there too many times not to know that one. I also got the TS of Methodism, Quo Vadis, Bausch & Lomb, and quincentennial. I should have gotten Pinatubo, but I just could not drag the name out of the deep recesses of my brain.

Never trust anyone over 30. -
Sometimes I feel bad for the kids who grew up with magic. By the time they get their Hogwarts letters, it's all old hat to them.

Trailers & New Movies: Coming Soon to a Cinema Near You!
Browncoat replied to nymusix's topic in Everything Else About Movies
Quoting myself -- I'm unsold, since I don't have Roku and can't watch it. If it came to theaters, I'd go for sure! -
A croissant for me, too. I will be sure to avoid Burger King. And France.
-
I've never seen Citizen Kane either, but took a guess. It's a well-known movie, and considered by many to be the bestest movie evah! (no idea, since I haven't seen it!), so I figured why not guess that one. Yay, me. The only TS I wrote down were Spirit of '76, and Rubens. I got distracted by something shiny in the middle of the show.

Instaget FJ for me tonight, and it was entirely because of the rhyme. I was surprised that carbon was a TS -- it was the first element to come to mind. I also got mirror, hypertension and hyperspace, and euro.

I'm sold, too. I still think Daniel Radcliffe is an odd choice for Weird Al, but the clip makes me think it's going to be okay. -

They've gone back to allowing us to bring our own bags to the grocery store around here. In fact, one locality has started charging for their plastic and paper bags -- I can't remember how much, but I think it's 10 or 15 cents per bag. They do still at least bag the groceries, and occasionally will even ask if I need help taking them to my car. But if I buy bread or eggs, I hold those back and carry them separately. No way am I letting anyone put either of those in the bottom of a bag! -
Almost instaget FJ for me tonight. I first also thought "God Save The Queen", then my brain kicked in and actually read the clue, and I got it in plenty of time. TS I got include disc and drum, Gregor Samsa, iguana, loose, released, and terrier. Seems like there was something else I wanted to comment about, but my brain has kicked back out again.

I waffled between Hamlet and Macbeth for FJ, finally settling on Macbeth. The correct response never occurred to me. I am off to a bad start for this week! But I did get the TS of Village of the Damned, cheating, the Gipper (assuming that was enough and I didn't need his actual name), Don Johnson & Philip Michael Thomas, turtle, Gila monster, Elian Gonzalez, and pekoe. And I don't even drink tea.

Me, too! -
Maybe it is time for a harness and a long lead? He could still run around a little, but you could reel him in when you needed to.

Why do they want to ban Mo? Is it just Mo or all dogs?

A space elevator is about the damn stupidest thing I've heard in a long time. What does it go to? It would have to go to something that is in geosynchronous orbit, and likely a fairly low orbit, which lets out the space station, so what's the point? Neil is an idiot. But it was nice to see Ted and Mary together. She was clearly having a blast.
