Instaget FJ for me tonight. "I'm Holly" sounds like a terrible lyric. I have never heard Chincoteague pronounced with a hard "ch" sound. I got that TS (pronounced with a softer, almost "sh" sound, as we do in my part of Virginia) along with Book of Mormon, edam & gouda, phalanges, Steller, Urbana, and grotto.

Catching up from last night -- I also said Salinger for FJ, but of course Kerouac made so much sense when it was revealed. Monday night's correct FJ was a fluke. I did get the TS of mortise, Faerie Queene, China Grove, and tabard. And I cheered when Rosalind Franklin was given her props. She really deserves equal credit with Watson and Crick (maybe more!).

Same. The Juniors were responsible for all the decorations, music, etc. for the prom, too, but I honestly can't remember who was responsible for the Homecoming dance or any of the other dances. They all were free to attend, too -- no tickets required. If there was a hangout, I don't know about it. It was a small town. The hangout was probably someone's finished basement/rec room. -
I wouldn’t even be able to find the stage without mine! And yes, my comment about Mayim’s pronunciation of Camus was really more a comment about how Alex pronounced it.

Instaget FJ for me tonight, and I even said the correct name of Gateway Arch. Much better start to this week! TS I got include South Africa, Chile, Camus, attack Russia, and femur. I'm assuming they would have accepted "attack Russia" instead of "invade Russia". I am very disappointed in Mayim's pronunciation of Camus.

I just finished a book called "The Narrowboat Summer" by Anne Youngson. The story was fine -- an older woman invites two younger women to drive her narrowboat through the canals of England and deliver it to a boatyard for maintenance while she goes into hospital for a bit. What really fascinated me, though, was the narrowboat culture/lifestyle and the descriptions of the canals and locks. It interested me so much that I googled more about it.

She had such a lovely voice. My local station recently showed the episode where they were looking for a husband for Charlene's daughter, Andylina (who was an infant). She sang "There Is A Time": A gorgeous song. -

Our Homecoming Dance was on Saturday night. I think the parade was Saturday morning after the football game on Friday night. But we had about a half-day worth of a pep rally Friday afternoon before the game. A surprising number of alumni came back for the game and parade, too. Our prom was limited to Juniors and Seniors, unless you were the date of a Junior or Senior. Homecoming and other dances were open to all students. In rural or semi-rural areas, that was about all there was to do on a Friday night. Our games were packed -- everyone went, including parents and even people who didn't have a kid on the team. This applied to away games as well. Basketball was not as well attended, but was still fairly big. Other sports were mostly ignored. -

We didn't really have cliques in my high school -- there were only about 50 of us in my graduating class. Not enough for cliques. We were divided into "those likely to go to college" and "those less likely to go to college" for determining which classes we took, so we generally hung out with the people in our group. There was a lot of crossover, though, at lunch and for sports teams. -
I have no idea why that spoiler box is there. Nothing’s under it! It was a little cloudy here last night, so I didn’t get a great look at the eclipse. I got an okay look, and it was pretty cool with binoculars, but photos were definitely not happening. I’m mostly glad we weren’t completely overcast like we are this morning.

The cheerleaders at my high school also wore their full uniforms on game days, which included both football and boys' basketball. I don't remember if the football players wore their jerseys or not, but they definitely wore their letter jackets. Or their girlfriends did. Which meant sometimes we had cheerleaders in full uniform wearing football letter jackets. -
I said the same thing, too!

Does Arpi know that Titi B is running for Mayor? After this episode, I'm not quite as sad that the show's been cancelled.

2/5 this week.

I surprised myself by getting FJ. Mostly because I ran through the original colonies in my head, and Georgia made the most sense. The only TS I got tonight were caste and Irish Setter.

They do make doggy seat belts. You could restrain Mo in the front seat where you could reach him for pats, but keep him from causing an accident.

And that there is exactly why I don't particularly care for organized religion. That pastor and the whole congregation are not very Christian, in my opinion. So much for "Judge not lest ye be judged", eh? Good for Missy for standing up for her family, and good for the youth pastor for standing up for them, too. For that matter, major props to Connie and even Georgie for being there for Mandy. But damn, I felt bad for all of them. Especially George and Mary. -

Not that I watched it, but didn't "How We Roll" just start? I see ads for it all the time. I am a little sad about Mr. Mayor. Not really surprised, though. It's just a little too quirky. Kind of like Better Off Ted. -
Woo hoo! I got FJ! That makes one for this week. And also, Woo hoo! for Kit Carson! I got that one, too, although it was a guess. And I got the TS of Hot Springs, punctuation, Salmonella, Auntie Mame, and Aunt Polly.

I also knew FJ must have come from The Godfather, but I haven't ever seen any of those movies either, so I was stuck trying to dredge some vocabulary from my college Italian classes. I failed. The dredging, not the classes. I did quite well in the classes. So many TS! And some that were really surprising. The ones I got include, "Go west young man", Franklin, radius and diameter, stoning, date(!), "What's Love Got To Do With It"(!), "Venus", Walker's, and days of wine and roses. It did take me a second to figure out stoning, after I ruled out death by butterflies. Because those are lepidopterans, not lapidated. ETA: I really did not like Mallory's top tonight. Shiny black puffy shoulders? No thanks.
