  1. Catching up from last night -- I did not get FJ. I had no idea that Eros had brothers, and would never in a million years have come up with the correct response. End guy made a terrible wager, and Steve made the correct wager for his score. I would have liked Steve to have bet maybe $100 more for the Daily Double, though, and made it a runaway. I got the TS of goldfish crackers, piebald, Four Tops, 80 proof, and hydrogen peroxide.
  2. I saw this last night, and I loved it. I just love the audacity of entering the Open so many times under so many different names, just because he could. Is there really a tournament in Michigan named after him? Practice is the road to perfection!
  3. Older eggs generally make better boiled eggs — they’re easier to peel, too. But the cracking is a puzzlement.
  4. I couldn't come up with FJ either. It was so far off my radar that I'm not sure I ever would have thought of it. And the only TS I got were "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood," Marquis de Sade, and "Saving Private Ryan."
  5. @Netfoot, I use that egg boiling method, too (but for 12 minutes), and the eggs come out perfectly every time.
  6. I’m going to pick a nit — it’s Edinburgh, with an h.
  7. I got FJ tonight, but I had to think about it for a few seconds. I only vaguely remembered the name of the city, then waffled on whether or not that event was in Genesis. In the end, I couldn’t think of anything else. I feel like there were some TS that I got, but I didn’t write them down.
  8. Instaget FJ for me tonight, and as we now know, scone does not rhyme with zone.
  9. I loved Brain Dead, but was actually happy they quit while they were ahead. I feel like it was one of those things that was perfect as it was, and didn’t need to be continued.
  10. That was my thought process, too! I've been distracted by some family issues, so I didn't give the game my full attention. The only TS I wrote down was Hawthorne.
  11. Might I recommend The Big Night, and The Impostors? The Impostors, particularly, is a hidden gem of a movie, with an outstanding cast.
  12. I just saw that commercial, and I thought the same thing!
  13. I leapt immediately to Watergate for FJ tonight, too, and didn't even stop to think about anything else, I was so certain it was correct. Oh well! At least I was in the right city -- grassy knoll, anyone? The only TS I got were 78, per, cement, needle, and screw. I'm glad our champ won again.
  14. I never remember that it's Harold Lloyd, and I've never actually seen the whole movie as far as I know. Given a choice of titles, I'd never pick out the right one, and I didn't even know that clock had an address. All I really know is "guy hanging from a clock" so when the clue said "dangled from this in a famous movie stunt" I immediately knew it was that scene, and thus a clock.
  15. They really should. It is an old movie, but that scene is iconic -- I still see it all the time.
  16. I thought that was a tough FJ to guess. From a position of not really having a clue, it seems like any one of several states could be possibilities. I guessed incorrectly, of course, waffling between Delaware, Rhode Island, and Maine. Maine has great swathes of wilderness, after all -- I have no idea of the population of any of those states. Vermont only occurred to me briefly. I discarded it as an option as soon as it came to mind. Oh well. I didn't keep track of TS, but I really thought Bush needed a BMS. I mean, yes, one is still alive, but still.
  17. I have yet to visit a pharmacy with a pharmacist and sign for anything. The non-pseudoephedrine Sudafed I got is not tracked. Pseudoephedrine works so well for me, that I actually wish I could only buy about four pills. If I recall correctly from the last time I bought it, the smallest box was 16. I end up discarding most of them at the drug take-back day.
  18. It would still have to be sold through the pharmacy section/pharmacist. I was disinclined to go on a wild Sudafed chase this morning as the lesser option seems to be working okay. Mostly I didn't want to go into a store just to see that the pharmacy was closed as it was in the grocery store. I did pass a CVS, but the parking lot was empty! I didn't bother stopping. But I might try again tomorrow if I determine that the other stuff isn't doing its job as well as I'd like. Sorry, I can't remember the generic name! It's still a Sudafed, but it's the one that does not contain pseudoephedrine. We had this stuff in Scotland called Beecham's -- it was a three-in-one and had paracetamol (aka Tylenol), guaifenesin, and the one whose name I can't remember. Good stuff, but I don't need the paracetamol or guaifenesin. Just the decongestant.
  19. Meth heads are my peeve today. I would like to obtain some pseudoephedrine today, for my congestion, but because it is used in the process of manufacturing meth, it is no longer available on the shelves at any pharmacy. You have to ask the pharmacist for it, and possibly sign something. It's been a while since I wanted to buy any. And the pharmacies (even the pharmacy at the grocery store) seem to be closed today for the holiday, so I have to make do with the lesser version. It still works, but not nearly as well as the good stuff.
  20. It confused me for a long time why people had problems pronouncing Staunton. When we talk about our aunts, we pronounce that as "ant", so it makes sense that Staunton is pronounced "Stanton". It didn't occur to me until I was probably college-aged that Staunton could be pronounced any other way. Norfolk, on the other hand.... And better yet, there was a dorm at my college that was spelled Taliaferro, but pronounced Tolliver. Took me ages to figure out they were the same building.
  21. And then there's the town of Buena Vista in Virginia. Normal places might pronounce that "Bwayna Vista", but not Virginia. Nope. It's "Byoona Vista" in Virginia. Even though it grates on my last nerve, that is the local pronunciation, so I try to roll with it.
  22. I buy Amazon gift cards at the grocery store and use those. Amazon does not have my CC information.
  23. I will never ever in a million zillion years try haggis. Not authentic, actual haggis anyway. I don't do organ meats. I didn't really buy much other than food. I got a couple of keychains for a couple of small people who collect them, and a guidebook about the Kelpies in Falkirk (they are incredible up close and personal). Oh, and some notecards that have lovely art on them. But at this point, I've been enough that the only thing I really want is a Harris Tweed jacket or coat, and that's not quite in the budget! I didn't pay attention to the sweaters, but I feel confident you could find one like that. Plus, depending on the group you're with, either you're all friends already so they don't care what you wear, or you'll never see those people again, so who cares what they think about what you wear! I also have a habit of taking old, worn-out things that are ready to be tossed anyway, and just toss them along the way. Yes, I've left a trail of ratty clothes across Scotland! My next trip is already in the works -- it's another one that was postponed from 2020, and that is to Costa Rica and Panama in December. I'll probably buy more interesting things there -- and do my Christmas shopping, too!
