  1. I just ordered my copy of Alan Rickman's "Madly Deeply" -- mostly for the cover photo. Well, the content, too, but have you seen that cover photo?
  2. I could not make this if I had all the parts pre-cut and drilled and just had to assemble them.
  3. I don't give a crap what people think. I wear a mask if I'm inside places with lots of other people, like work or the grocery store.
  4. I love paper maps! I'd spend hours planning a trip, poring over the map. Anyone remember the TripTiks that AAA used to make? Those were the best -- and they showed restaurants and hotels. Map reading is a skill, and it should be part of the race. It would be so boring if they all just used Google maps. But as much as I love paper maps, when I'm travelling by myself, Google maps on my phone is better. Everyone walks around looking at their phones. I don't stand out as much as if I were looking at a paper map trying to find my way around an unfamiliar city. Mind you, I'm sure I still stand out as a tourist, but it might be a wee bit less obvious.
  5. That is so cool! I can't imagine being able to make something like that.
  6. I saw "God's Creatures" this week. I thought it was a fascinating look at a slice of life in an Irish fishing village. Emily Watson was absolutely fabulous as the mother who had to make some terribly difficult choices. I'm not at all familiar with any of the rest of the cast, but they all did a great job. It's really moody and atmospheric, and the dissonant music suits it perfectly. It is a bit of a slow mover, and I was glad to have captioning in my theater, but I liked it a lot.
  7. I went to Indonesia as well for FJ, but stayed there. Canada never would have come to me, I don't think. Good game tonight, with not very many TS. I only got moussaka and keystone.
  8. I did get it while travelling! But I think it was from one of our own group who likely picked it up in London before joining the rest of us in Edinburgh. I am not still positive now (that I know of) -- that post was from early July. I haven't tested again since I tested negative three days in a row back in July.
  9. “You wrote a book, try reading one!” I laughed so hard when the ghosts were trying to read over Todd’s shoulder.
  10. I like that they addressed how deep Sheldon's voice got.
  11. Instaget FJ for me tonight. I am gobsmacked that the end guy didn't get it! He seemed pretty knowledgeable about a lot of stuff. Maybe he thought it was too obvious and easy and overthought it? I only got three TS -- Devon, quarks, and Misty Copeland. I also got a phone call in the middle of DJ, and I answered the phone, "I can't believe you're calling me in the middle of Jeopardy!" It was a short call, but I did miss out on a few clues.
  12. The twins were seriously impressive this leg! The way they rocked both the tasks just blew me away. They just need to work on the stick-shift driving a bit. When I first saw the clue, I probably would have chosen anatomy, but then when I saw that you had to sit through an 8-minute lecture, I probably would have bailed. Unless they've changed the rules to disallow Bald Snarking -- no one did, after all. I did love the guy judging and handing out clues. "Give this to the other couple. And one for you." I hope the Ducati people re-do all of those bikes before they try to sell them.
  13. I said Fodor's for FJ, then considered Baedeker, but discarded that because I didn't think that was as well-known as Fodor's. The Green Book never occurred to me until it was revealed. Boo hiss. And apparently, I needed more clues that were eye-related, because the only TS I got were eyeball and cornea.
  14. He may have been a drunken, cheating abuser, but Doolittle Lynn was instrumental in her success. He bought her her first guitar, and encouraged her to play and sing in public. Doo was definitely a source of consternation, but without him, she may never have left Butcher Holler.
  15. I do, when I can come up with anything. Unlike last night, when I initially thought of Mongolia, realized it didn't fit the clue, then said, "Oh well, it must be one of the -stans", but I probably could have sat here all afternoon (I'm just now catching up from last night) and never have gotten it. I could probably fix that sentence, too, but I choose not to. Impressive first round last night! No TS at all. In DJ, I was able to come up with the TS of Portobello, mica, iron pyrite, and lighthouse. I do shout out the answers during the regular game, then I write down the TS I get. I am old school like that.
  16. I don't even like country music, but I love "Coal Miner's Daughter" -- the song and the movie (which was filmed near where I grew up). Loretta was a force to be reckoned with, and she'll be missed.
  17. Oooh, good point. I hadn't thought of that. Still doesn't make me like that color combo, though!
  18. I just saw a Twix commercial that cracked me up -- two campers, looking at a Twix, and one says, "It doesn't matter which side you pick -- they're both crunchy, chewy, and delicious." Then the camera pans back and you see two bears, looking at the campers, and one says, "It doesn't matter which side you pick -- they're both crunchy, chewy, and delicious."
  19. LOL at Marty trying to watch Star Wars with Tina and Necie. I love Star Wars, and I also agree that you need to start with the original (which was not Episode 4 when it first came out in 1977!). And possibly ignore 1-3. But Marty shouldn't be quoting Yoda if they're only watching the first one. I actually hate Necie's top. I just don't like that pink/green combo -- never have.
  20. Hot, fresh Krispy Kreme are the best -- like eating hot, sweet air.
  21. I pre-guessed a Robert Frost poem, but the wrong one (miles to go before I sleep), so when the clue was revealed, I had to get that out of my head before I came up with the correct response. I just finished writing when time ran out, so I count it as a win. I also got the TS of mitre box, Maldives, and Tasman Sea. I'm glad the champ won again.
