  1. Totally normal. For dogs, too. Many years ago, a friend of mine took his dog in his truck to get neutered. The dog was so excited to go for a ride in the truck! After the surgery, the dog would not get in the truck again for months.
  2. When Missy started working at the comic shop, the owner told her she had to be 14. Her reply was something to the effect of, "Don't I look 14?" and he hired her on the spot. No one checked any ID or anything, so I expect she is being paid under the table.
  3. I seem to be in a rut. Just like last week, 1/5 for this week. I don't expect next week to be any better!
  4. I didn't get FJ, either, so at least I'm in good company. But it was another one of those that seems obvious in hindsight, being gardens and all. I also didn't get any TS! Not that there were many to get, mind you. Congrats, Andrew! Next week should be quite interesting. At least I hope it is! I don't know who to root for -- I like them all.
  5. When I said it wasn’t like Matt not to go all in on FJ, I wasn’t even thinking about the math — only that I was accustomed to seeing him bet it all. Or at least bet something.
  6. Go, Sam! I wonder why Matt bet zero for FJ? That's really not like him, and he pretty much guaranteed he'd lose. But I'm A-OK with Sam moving on. My brain went to Italy for FJ instead of Spain, so there was no joy for me tonight. I only got the TS of botanicals and Under The Banner Of Heaven. That was a great game.
  7. Well, Aubrey and David, I guess switching drivers helped! I think at this point, I'm going to be sorry to see anyone go. I don't dislike any of the remaining teams!
  8. That poetry judge is pretty lenient with pronunciation.
  9. Seems like the people missing the kicks are just rushing. If they really slow down and take their time, they seem to get it right away. Dammit, Jim, I'm a salsa dancer, not a bricklayer!
  10. So much for their mad navigational skillz.
  11. I'd do the bricks, too. Damn, Marcus! I expected an athlete to be better at the rugby challenge.
  12. Wow. Those two teams killed that rugby challenge. It didn't look like Luis bounced his ball, but I guess he did.
  13. Does the ball have to bounce before you kick it? I would suck at that, too. I could manage a drop-kick if it doesn't have to bounce.
  14. Oooh, maybe with a switch in drivers David and Aubrey will do better. They probably should have considered that last leg.
  15. I loved it, too! And I agree with your entire post, @StatisticalOutlier. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are so very good. I also loved In Bruges. Gorgeous, moving, horrifying, tragic film.
  16. Woo hoo! I finally got an FJ! And it was almost an instaget -- I thought of the book title first before I realized they wanted the author. Then I spent the rest of the time second-guessing myself, but stuck with the correct response in the end. As for TS, if they would have accepted "Justice Jackson" and "Wallace" instead of all three names for those two, I would have gotten those. Given the category, maybe not, but given the laxity in accepting just surnames, maybe so. I also got the director Luc Besson -- even remembered his first name. Congrats, Amy!
  17. Catching up from last night -- I went to a movie instead of watching live. The game was only interrupted once for other reasons. Unfortunately, it was during the first part of the first round, just before the first commercial break. I don't know why the local station couldn't have waited! So I didn't get to see a few clues. But I am actually glad they didn't interrupt the interviews. What a fun game it was! I'm sorry they didn't get the board cleared in the second round, though -- I was also expecting "hoe" somewhere. Ken's boo-boo was hilarious. I rewound and watched that again. And see, celebrities? It's possible to have fun and have a good game without being idiots! I only got half of FJ, but that half was an instaget.
  18. I certainly should have gotten FJ. So obvious once the response was revealed! But I couldn't think of anything before that. No joy in my house tonight! I did get deoxyribose and Mace Windu, though, so there's that. Sam was on fire! I'm glad he won, but I would have been glad for any of them to win. It always makes me sad, though, when someone doesn't get to play FJ. I agree!
  19. I have no idea who Joel is, but I'm glad he beat Ray Romano. Everyone does NOT love Ray. It was weird hearing Melissa's normal voice! Overall, it was a sad game, with too many easy clues that were TS. I can't believe only one of them knew FJ. The next matches should be interesting.
  20. I bought a headlamp the last time we had a power outage. Much easier to read without having to hold onto a flashlight as well as the book! It's amazing how much I use that headlamp for other things, too.
  21. That was hilarious! A huge thanks to Roku for making it free to watch, too! A highlight for me was Andy Warhol saying, "Well, hello, Dali" to Salvador Dali. I about fell off my couch. So much funny about that whole party scene at Dr. Demento's house. And it just kept getting more and more absurd from there. I loved it. Daniel Radcliffe is proving to be quite the entertainer. I love that he just goes all in, no matter what he's doing. No holds barred. I was also skeptical of his being cast as Weird Al, but he was really good.
  22. I didn't see it as slut-shaming or being grossed out at all. I'm not into polyamory/sharing partners, so stumbling on basically a key party would make me terribly uncomfortable as well, regardless of the age of the participants. And I'd want to leave ASAP! The "naive person stumbling on a key party" trope has been done to death, though.
  23. I really liked the original, too. I'll probably see this version out of curiosity, but I fail to see how they could improve on "A Man Called Ove".
