Good grief! Sharik, honey, you absolutely cannot sit there and whine about how you would have done that task better if you refused to even entertain the idea of possibly trying to attempt it! She was so fast to volunteer Linton -- they barely finished reading the clue before she said he was going to do it. Gah! I am not sad to see her leave. Linton was great, though. It was probably good for the brothers to get taken down another notch -- they were getting a little cocky. I'm still rooting for the twins, though I do like Glenda and Lumumba. The rest are still a bit of a blur. Pretty funny, though, that that one team couldn't figure out that the slide puzzle was of the structure that was right in front of them. Man, Petra! I'm so glad they went there! I mean, can you imagine telling people, "Oh, yes, I went to Jordan, but didn't get anywhere near Petra, just wandered around the desert with a metal detector." Even just being there for a little bit would be amazing.

I am on a roll this week! As in I did not get FJ tonight, either. I also said Philadelphia, but as we know, history is not one of my stronger categories. But I did get the TS of virtual private network, Wise, colloquial, crocodile, and Kimberly-Clark.

I struggled with FJ -- first I thought it must be an oak tree. But I couldn't think of a connection, and I also thought maybe a tree was too big. Yeah, I don't know. I finally settled on rose, but mostly just to have something to say. I'm 0/2 so far this week! The only TS I got were geosynchronous, bow + arrow, center of gravity, and peace out.

What the hell is the point of that? Not everything needs a sequel!

I think my favorite was 3 Musketeers. No one else at my house liked them, so while we always had candy at the house, we never had 3 Musketeers. I only ever got them trick-or-treating. (Until I got older and could buy my own! Now I'm not a fan.) Least favorite? Candy corn. Also, candy corn. Those orange and black things pictured above were pretty bad, too, but candy corn is the worst.

Wow is right. I had gotten distracted by something, but her voice caught my attention for sure. -
I thought it was probably a presidential pet, but couldn't think of any that would fit the clue. Oh well. I did get the TS of kaleidoscopic, Out Of Africa, Diana, and chemistry. I wasn't familiar with a hockey movie that he was in, so I didn't say anything.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Peeve of the day — when I forget where I’ve put mousetraps and can’t quite figure out where that smell is coming from. (I found a forgotten one today that clearly had been tripped a few days ago.) -
2/5 for me this week.

Like the champ, I also said Dumas for FJ. I probably could have sat here all night and not come up with Verne, although it was so obvious in hindsight. I only got the TS of tone and racehorse. I knew Below Deck, but I could not bring the name from the deep recesses of my brain in time.

Nooooo! Not Hagrid! Robbie Coltrane was Hagrid -- my favorite scene was when Aragog died. The look he gave Harry when Harry said something about the pincers was priceless. -
Instaget FJ for me, but I tried to second guess myself about the title. Fortunately, I couldn't think of any other title it might be, so I stuck with my first guess. And now I have a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song running through my head, "Said I'm going down to Yasgur's farm to join in a rock 'n' roll band..." I got several TS tonight, including thorn, smell after three days, home is best, Indian Ocean, Greensleeves, and Scooby snack.

I will echo all y'all who suggested Dom and Sharik be eliminated and Linton and Rich race together as a new team. The level of whining this leg was utterly ridiculous. Dom was the worst! I am not the least bit sad to see her go. The sisters, meanwhile, are killing it. So glad they got a number one. I wasn't sure about them at the beginning, but I'm on Team Twins for sure.

I did not get FJ tonight. I figured it had something to do with the start of WWII, but couldn't get any farther than that. And the only two TS I got were bouffant and Hershey. Not that there were very many TS to get, of course.
-
Since I couldn't come up with anything reasonable for FJ, I decided to say Edmund Fitzgerald. Of course I knew it was so very very wrong on so many levels, but it amused me to write it down. And I only got two TS -- cube farm and Big Rock Candy Mountain.

I am jealous! She will always be Mrs. Lovett to me -- her role in Murder, She Wrote was just a cover for her secret pie business. -
And of course, the infamous Kit Cromwell.

I knew grasshoppers from the Little House books, too.

Instaget FJ for me, too. I had it before Ken finished reading the clue. Kind of boneheaded of Cris to answer "Anthony" for the escaped slave clue! And I'm glad he didn't get away with just answering "Ford" for the Betty Ford clue. Pretty impressive first round with no TS! The ones I got in the second round were George Eliot and George Sand, Freedom Riders, grasshoppers, pleurisy, and loll.

They left the first half at the restaurant where they cut the cheese. Heh. One time I used Google maps to check on a turn (there had been some road construction, and I just wanted to double check) in the middle of my route. I asked for directions from my starting point to my ending point instead of just looking at the area of the turn, and Google maps sent me the most remote, ridiculous way that would have taken me all day. It probably was the shortest mileage, but it involved a gravel forest service road instead of the nice four-lane. And there are quite a few places in the semi-rural area where I live now where GPS cannot be used as there's no signal.

A group of friends and I got thrown out of a bar because of that song! To be fair, we were singing it very very loudly and very very badly.
