I think reluctant hero is the best way to describe Oliver. All the other heroes seem to want to make a difference using their skills and Oliver comes across as almost being forced to do so. Like it's his job, not his passion. And I agree with @looptab that we're seeing his progression to fully embracing being a hero as a "want" instead of a "must". The fact that at the end of season 1 he was more than willing to hang up his suit to have a normal life with Laurel, then followed through with that in season 3 with Felicity just further proves that he doesn't really...like doing it. He keeps saying the darkness drags him down and I think that's what he sees vigilante-ing as. Hopefully he will fully embrace being the GA as a "want".

The writers either think what they did was OK or are trying to drill home how bad Oliver and Laurel are together (my main reason for hating even the thought of them together). I do wonder why show runners would ever cater to a minority if the majority doesn't care or actively hates a storyline. I have questions.

For some reason I'm almost completely convinced there will be a "what if" if the Gambit didn't go down. It's too tropey NOT to go there considering how awful Ollie was. Every time I see TA broken up about Laurel dying I keep thinking "agh couldn't we have skipped ahead 3 months where everyone is more emotionally stable so I don't have to sit through more Lance drama?". Her death was meant to solve this problem. #FeelBadButSeriously

Well it was replanted, then stomped to death and never watered. I know this show makes us paranoid (seriously) but Oliver gave nothing during that scene. I think they're very done.

That's true. If they left it at "I hope Olicity are endgame" it would've felt different. But then Laurel decided to tell him about her feelings and it just became...eeeeeeh.

I rewatched the "love of my life" scene and after many many laughs, I think Laurel was giving Oliver and Felicity her blessing. Although the way KC delivered "anything can happen" makes me raise my eyebrows to the sky. Why they need her blessing is beyond me but there you have it.
