Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect

Ha. I was thinking the same thing, as I also downloaded the add-on. I wish they'd mix it up between puppies and kittens, though, as I'm a dog person. But still pretty great. -
Some good points, and what we need to remind the democratic politicians of https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/dec/07/liberalism-austria-clinton-us-populist?CMP=share_btn_tw

I'll just leave this here http://www.vox.com/world/2016/12/20/14001118/putin-russia-hack-dnc-clinton-trump-election-podesta-emails And trump's tweets didn't do anything to help this situation? I'm SHOCKED https://theintercept.com/2016/12/19/factory-near-carrier-sends-jobs-to-mexico-but-trump-just-tweets/ -
This was discussed even prior to the election, but maybe now we citizens need to be pushing for our states to go this route http://secondnexus.com/politics-and-economics/nyt-thinks-can-end-electoral-college/?utm_content=inf_10_1164_1&tse_id=INF_d5950400c6d711e686924f044efee13a

Disgusting, though not really surprising considering the lack of morals of Trump and his cabinet -

Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect

This was said awhile back, but it fits with an email "joke" my mom forwarded to me. Sadly, I didn't find it funny because I think it's true: Heaven Obama, Hillary and Trump are standing at the throne of heaven. God looks at them and says, "Before granting you a place at my side, I must ask you what you have learned, what you believe in." God asks Obama first, "What do you believe in?" He thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye and says, "I believe in hard work and staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my countrymen." God can't help but see the essential goodness of Obama and offers him a seat to his left. Then God turns to Hillary and say, "What do you believe?" Hillary says "I believe passion and discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life. Like Obama, I believe in hard work. I too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be a true patriot and a loyal American." God is greatly moved by Hillary's high-pitched eloquence and he offers her a seat to his right. Finally, God turns to Trump and says, "And you Donald, what do you believe?" Trump replies...."I believe you're in my seat."- 8.1k replies

@Maharincess I don't know how easy they are to get in touch with, but maybe you could reach out to the couple who adopted Esther the Pig. http://www.estherthewonderpig.com/ It was another one of those situations where she was supposed to be a small big and ended up huge. They have learned a lot from having her and do wonderful things for animals.

Was he on there? I didn't look at all tweets yet. I saw Evan McMullin's response to Huckabee's tweet, which is good like much of his recent stuff.

I think this is an important thread to read: and someone made a twitter list of politicians who are opposing Trump in big and small ways. https://twitter.com/summerbrennan/lists/politicians-against-trump

I don't disagree that there's a large problem with so many people in this country not voting. And it seems especially crazy to me considering how clear a threat, to many of us, one candidate was. But I don't think your conversations with young people are the best sample to measure considering that for all of recent history, the youth turnout has been poor. It's nice to know that those young people seem to grow up to be slightly older people who do turnout in larger numbers, although still not as large as we really should be. What's sad is, despite so many of us being riled up and wanting to take action, I can also see turnout getting worse after this election. As I've previously posted, our status as a supposed democracy seems very shaky to me right now. I'll still always vote in every election (big and small) as I always have, because doing nothing certainly won't help, but I can see why people might be extremely cynical after this. With the voter suppression, the lack of action being taken when we know the Russians interfered and the other iffy election information, and the electoral college going against the popular vote twice in recent years, it's hard not to be discouraged.

Like many here, I get frustrated that these intelligent Democratic politicians can't seem to learn from the Republicans successes and use it to fight for the other side successfully. You would think they could analyze what the GOP has done and apply it. I've decided that the only possible reason they haven't been able to is because they don't have "evil villain" brains and can't think that way.

Awesome. Not that it would have mattered.

I was going to post something similar regarding the accents. I think it was just off-putting because the actors had such modern-sounding American accents. Like many complained about regarding Betsy Ross in Sleepy Hollow. Sorry to refer to Turn again, but those actors generally all use American accents as well (for the American characters), but they each put a little bit of a twist on it. I believe I also read that parts of it were intentional since "Americans" were made up of people from many areas with varying accents. So it sounds a bit more "foreign" or "old" than it did here. Not sure it was worth the time or effort for them to work out that sort of thing for characters in one episode.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I saw that they all meet in their own statehouses. That seems to further defeat the purpose of the EC. If they are supposed to prevent a maniac from becoming president but cannot communicate with all the other electors to come up with a plan, it is very difficult to take effective action. I was thinking that I almost wish it was like a jury deliberation - stick them all in the same room to fight it out with a diverse group of people until they reach a conclusion. Might not result in anything better, but it makes more sense.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere as well. Basically, they think there's a better chance they'll get some Republicans to switch to an "okay" Republican if Hillary's electors all do the same, if Hillary directs them to "heroically." And more likely than Republican electors actually acknowledging that Hillary is the better candidate and won the popular vote and dumping their party to vote for her. Again, I'm not thrilled with it. But like Keith says, if the ONLY other option is rump, it would be better than that. Again, I'd rather re-vote altogether and hope that enough of those previous undecideds and protest voters learned their lesson, maybe some rump idiots learned their lesson, plus a less hackable method of voting (since I still wonder about those states) would lead to Hillary winning. Speaking of that video plea to electors, is it bad to say that I don't think the right appeal is to "vote your conscience?" We saw where Ted Cruz's conscience eventually led him. Related to my last post, I don't trust that their consciences are saying to vote for someone other than rump.

While it pisses me off that it would have to be done this way, I think the only hope from the electoral college comes from Democratic electors changing their votes from Hillary to someone else. I went ahead and wrote letters/emails to electors that could be faithless, and as part of it I was googling some people to check on information. The Republican electors are SCARY. I wasn't doing detailed research, but the sites that were coming up right away highlighted their terrible beliefs, and many of them are all excited about voting for Trump. It made me really question how the hell the electors are chosen. One of the electors is a 19 year old who voted for the first time this year! WTF?
