  1. Yeah, I know. I'm trying to keep myself in the mindset of putting effort into everything, even if it might not happen. Better to try it and be pleasantly surprised than to not bother trying and know that we're definitely screwed. I actually would rather we just audit the election votes since it seems pretty likely the votes aren't all legit. Finding that Hillary legitimately won the electoral college AND popular vote would be easier than swaying electoral voters with current information suggesting Trump won those states. I'm not hopeful there either, even though I think it makes complete sense considering we know how vulnerable much of our current voting processes are to tampering.
  2. There was mention of a change in how they do her eye makeup. Not sure if that explains everything. On the opposite end, I LOVED her wedding dress. So much.
  3. I liked Finding Father Christmas, although I seem to be in the minority in not finding the lead actor good looking. But I still liked the movie. I agree that Christmas Cookies was decent. The relationship drama was annoying, but I was pleasantly surprised that the whole town knew from the start that there was an effort to move the factory away and that Jake's efforts were to counter the offer. I'm not explaining very well, but I basically liked that they somewhat twisted this usual holiday movie trope and didn't have that as the true drama keeping the characters apart. So far I am keeping Finding Father Christmas and Love Always, Santa on my DVR, so I am willing to rewatch those. They aren't quite up there with my favorites, I don't think, but I liked them. This year's annoyance is that so many of these movies show it snowing EVERY SINGLE DAY. Do these people not know that even in cold parts of the country, it doesn't snow every day?
  4. If anyone is writing to members of the electoral college, I think there are a lot of good points in this article to include. I hope to. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/president-trump-isnt-a-done-deal-electors-should-vote-for-clinton-on-dec-19_us_582e2972e4b099512f81e79a
  5. Thank you, attorney generals in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, Massachusetts, and New York. Hope more follow. http://www.politicususa.com/2016/11/19/first-line-defense-democratic-states-vow-fight-trump-court.html and for supposed lack of popularity "Here's a SOBERING stat: Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by a wider margin than 24 of the 45 ELECTED Presidents."
  6. So...I can see why repubs are going to let trump get away with all sorts of crazy proposals/ideas that benefit them. But I don't understand how no one is calling him on stuff that only benefits him and his own personal pockets. This is pretty huge: Underreported: Trump owes millions to Deutsche Bank, which is being fined for $14 billion by DoJ, which Trump will oversee as POTUS. And as I've already been saying - who cares about the Constitution? https://thinkprogress.org/trump-poised-to-violate-constitution-his-first-day-in-office-george-w-bushs-ethics-lawyer-says-73e14789a935#.e67khhc83 And now I think I need to venture into the cute things thread. I'm trying to stay in the loop on everything going down, but I'm feeling super negative again and the tears are starting again. It continues to boggle my mind how easily the public is distracted by the silliness trump posts instead of focusing on all the MAJOR ridiculousness that he is doing and the settlement of the lawsuit and on and on and on. I also don't feel like our other representatives or other government organizations are doing enough to speak out or even discuss the possibility of stopping anything illegal. Again, I know we as citizens need to continue to speak up and have our voices heard. But with so much of this, it feels like -really? With issues THIS significant, they have to wait for us to speak out? There's not enough there for them to just do it?
  7. Another petition worth trying regarding auditing the vote. I may have already posted, but it doesn't remember me signing before so maybe just similar: https://www.change.org/p/demand-an-audit-of-the-2016-presidential-election?recruiter=69911716&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share_twitter_responsive
  8. This is our plan, right everybody? https://twitter.com/1aprildaniels/status/798749588953800705
  9. Starting to wonder if I should have spoken out against Bannon and Sessions specifically when I called the senator, although all appointments so far have been bad. Hope my more general approach regarding all doesn't lessen the impact somehow.
  10. And now this with more on the voter suppression and how North Carolina and Ohio won't release lists of voters they removed because they claim all of them are part of criminal investigations still being investigated. Nice excuse for a cover up. http://america.aljazeera.com/blogs/scrutineer/2014/11/14/voter-purges-alteruspoliticalmap.html This was the article I meant. Not sure how I linked that other one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/don-c-reed/voter-suppression-steals-_b_13069770.html If the lists of removed voters cannot be examined, how can we know if there is a crime being committed? I am extremely frustrated and confused about why the Democratic politicians aren't making more of a stink about these things that we have hard data on that could be fought. Hopefully a lot of us "regular" people are calling for these various investigations, but in this case I feel like it shouldn't be necessary. Maybe I'm just naive.
  11. This is a fun email someone sent to New Balance https://twitter.com/gabeliedman/status/799661577674768385
  12. Top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee is calling for investigation into Russia's influence on the election, too. This stuff needs to continue. http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/17/politics/house-oversight-democrat-investigate-russia/index.html?sr=twCNN111716house-oversight-democrat-investigate-russia0507PMVODtopLink&linkId=31276175
  13. Just saw this on twitter: Last day to support the call for a bipartisan review of Trump’s financials. If the inbox is full, call the committee chair: 801-851-2500 It's 5:37 PM here. Think we can still call?
  14. Panda taking a bath: https://twitter.com/SoVeryAwkward/status/799689688160366592 Regarding Hillary as a candidate and Biden...in this election, it's definitely possible he would have done better due to likeability. He has a tendency to stick his foot in his mouth, but against Trump that probably wouldn't have mattered. However, I feel like repeating what some others are trying to say elsewhere. Hillary wasn't really a bad candidate. Ultimately, she will have won more popular votes than any other candidate in recent history besides Obama. Unfortunately, as others have said, the problem is that she did not have enough supporters in the areas that needed them and too many were clustered together in areas that lean way blue anyway. Plus all the voter suppression stuff. Plus who knows what Russia did with votes. Speaking of, call and email the DOJ requesting that they audit the vote: https://twitter.com/GarnerMeg/status/799716502232514560 It's gaining attention. USAToday is even calling for it: http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2016/11/18/election-audit-paper-machines-column/93803752/
  15. Okay, I still haven't gotten through to the House Oversight Committee. I started getting a different message, which may be the original one that has been mentioned: that they are not answering and the mailbox is full. I did call my Senator (also a Democrat), as someone else did above, to speak out against Trump's nominees (all of them). I reached someone there who only asked what area of the state I am from and said he would pass on the information. He wasn't as chatty as some others have reached, in terms of telling me they are getting a lot of calls or whatever. I hope that is just his personality and not that people aren't calling.
  16. I have been having internet issues. So having a little trouble keeping up. I attempted to call regarding investigating Trump financials and conflicts of interest. Instead of getting the mailbox full message it is telling me they are unavailable. I tried several times in case it was similar to the mailbox full message. No success so far. Will try again if I can.
  17. My guess is they won't be open yet when I'm on my way to work. It starts a little earlier than other jobs. Will try to call at lunch. I'll put some numbers in my phone tonight.
  18. I saw that, too. It has to be during the workday, right? We shouldn't just leave voicemails after hours? I want to be calling all these places but have been swamped at work and come home to see all of these new people to call....
  19. Another petition that I think is worth taking the minute to sign, just in case. And also, call representatives making the same request. If we have to deal with the aftermath of having this mess of a president, let's at least make sure it was a legitimate win (at least according to electoral college). I had read that it is better to call their local numbers and not the DC ones. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/810/285/388/ Also, click on each of these to automatically send this message to various organizations' twitter feeds. I know we've all heard phone/letter is best, but why not do everything and bombard them from many angles? ETA: Send these SLOWLY, not all at once. That's triggering Twitter spam alerts for some people (I didn't read this in time...oops).
  20. This is me, too. But I'm currently planning to go. I also think it is something I have to do, and I live close by.
