  1. Case in point, I'm the one person who did not like The Christmas Card. I thought the acting by everyone was terrible and couldn't get past it. But that's apparently a widespread favorite, so what do I know?
  2. I may not be the best person to listen to, as I've often enjoyed movies that many here dislike and disliked movies others loved (with some exceptions, like Crown for Christmas), but I actually really liked A Song for Christmas. I wasn't expecting to based on the original description of the movie and the fact that I haven't enjoyed or found that male lead attractive in other movies. But unless I missed something, I think the actual storyline was changed somewhat from the first description. And the male actor worked for me in this one and with the female lead.
  3. Maybe that particular anxiety med was an SSRI, which can treat both? I forget if it said the medication name on the bottle, though they probably wouldn't show a specific one on TV. The other problem, though, is anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications take awhile to have any effect since they have to build up in your system. They don't work like ADHD meds where you can notice the effect right away.
  4. I went and read the book after watching the movie. While the changes you highlight ARE silly, I had some issues with the book as well. One of them is a pet peeve that I have with some of the romance series out there that similarly involve supposed celebrities. Just as in the movie, she is somewhat starstruck by Johnny at the start, as are other residents to some extent. Yet all of her friends are married to other celebrities from different professions. One small town with so many celebrities is kind of silly, IMO. I also didn't bother keeping track of the friends since there were so many (too many). I'll stop here. But anyway, I enjoyed both to some extent. I'll still enjoy the movie. It may have helped seeing the movie before reading the book - that seems to be a pattern with me. The same happened with Harry Potter originally, so I was able to enjoy both (though of course the books are better).
  5. I do miss it. My parents live in PA now, not too far from where I grew up. I got to go to Asbury Park for a quick day trip while visiting them, but it wasn't enough. I'm not close enough to a beach now. :-( I do like winter weather, though. I don't love summer heat (that's my least favorite, temp wise), but it IS usually better at the beach. My trip was in early October, and it was actually really nice and moderate. Took the pup and met lots of other pups.
  6. Sorry to be off topic, but @njbchlover, I like your username and avatar. I'm also a jersey girl, although I no longer live there.
  7. I'm with the recappers on Brandon. I like him in general and have appreciated some of his looks and his POV, but it's one POV and I wish he would have been forced to stretch himself at some point this season. I would have loved to see if he could do any sort of fitted look or just ANYTHING different. I liked Kentaro's jacket, and I still liked the look when he took it off. Shorts are definitely funny for a cold winter, but you could do tights or pair the jacket/top with all sorts of other bottoms. Or women can follow the college guy trend of wearing shorts as late into winter as they can possibly manage (at least at the college I went to). Kenya's was well made but didn't seem like fashion. Was shocked anyone liked Margarita's. Didn't care for Ayana's, especially the weirdly-shaped jumpsuit. But kind of cool that the jacket can be worn short, too.
  8. IDK. Admittedly, I like Kentaro, but I don't think the fit issue was him not taking into account his model's measurements or being a dick. They focused on him saying he has a big head, so he assumed it would fit over hers. One of the other designers, I think Kenya, commented on how it would be the model's hair that would make it difficult. It seemed to me that she was right, and as far as I know you don't have measurements for hair. He should have taken that into account, yes, but I can understand him potentially not knowing how much flexibility his model's hair would have to move or not move to squeeze into the top.
  9. For once I agree with everyone. I was pleasantly surprised by this first movie. The usual drama at the end was a bit annoying, but I guess we can't expect Hallmark to give that part of their formula up. The rest of the movie was handled pretty well. I thought the leads had good chemistry and were likable. I also liked that there was real snow, you could see their breath in some scenes, and I liked that Maddie's parents' house wasn't the usual large and fancy craftsman (although Johnny bought one of them). I have an irrational dislike of that type of house because a ton of them are popping up in the neighborhoods around me, replacing older homes that were there before. Several building companies seem to be buying up a lot of these older houses or land and rebuilding large, craftsman homes. I enjoy neighborhoods with a more diverse feel, including some older homes.
  10. I meant to respond to this. I always tackle all of the Christmas movies and plan to again. The only thing I wish is that, instead of starting the movies earlier (before Halloween with Halloween being on a weekday), I'd rather they save some and maybe have multiple movies in one day or have them on some of the days closer to the holiday where they do not have new ones. My response to the movie is helped by my feeling like it's that time of year, and before Halloween is just a little too hard for that. Especially as someone who grew up where winter is cold and snowy (though Christmas wasn't always snowy), with climate change making it feel like spring right now.
  11. The channel formerly known as ABC Family (Freeform) is back with a new Christmas movie this year: http://ew.com/tv/2017/10/26/brenda-song-jason-biggs-freeform-christmas-movie-angry-angel-photos/
  12. Since this episode was showing theory vs. practice a bit, I think this is an interesting and relevant article about Chidi that fits with why people here have argued that he does belong in the Bad Place (or at least why he is not in the Good Place): http://www.npr.org/sections/13.7/2017/10/23/559570771/the-good-psychology-in-the-good-place
  13. This is an interesting article that talks about why Chidi may not be in the Good Place, at least: http://www.npr.org/sections/13.7/2017/10/23/559570771/the-good-psychology-in-the-good-place
  14. Thanks. If he lives in LA, I wonder why they have him start each episode in supposedly "New York" as if his office is there.
  15. I wonder if my DVR cut off before the end, because I don't think I saw them blaming Eddie. I thought I saw them saying they didn't know which one did it, so they were all going to be in trouble. But they couldn't flip the cushion because Eddie got the other side messed up when Jessica's water broke when about to go into labor with him. So he was already making a mess before he was born.
  16. Don't forget - with photographs you have the magic of photoshop. So makeup may have made her look worse in the movie but the better photograph may have been touched up. Who knows. Regarding the last Fall Harvest movie - I also thought there was a big age difference and would have liked acknowledgement of a May/December romance. I was surprised that they were supposed to be the same age. Now I'm even more surprised to find out they are only 2 years apart. I guess AW really does just look very young.
  17. This is what I was thinking. Similar to Michael Bolton having his current short hair as opposed to the longer hair he used to sport.
  18. After watching this show over several seasons, I have found that this is their pattern. The winner is always the one who seemed to have more criticism. They probably hold back some of the footage of the criticism that the loser had gotten.
  19. Had the same feelings as many. My parents live in Bucks County, and it is definitely suburban although there are pockets of rural. But it isn't "the sticks." And obviously they didn't want to name an actual town since that could have been problematic when it would clearly not be the town, but it sounded so silly to me that the people kept referring to it as Bucks County. Who refers to where they live all the time as the county they live in and not the town? And the first movie messed up by having front license plates when Pennsylvania doesn't have front license plates. I didn't catch the front of a car this time to see if it was the same, but I guess that was because I wasn't watching closely like many others here. Also agree with those who pointed out that they used the same drama as the first movie. Brian was feeling the tugs to get back to working in NY in the first one and then chose to go back to PA for her. So now he had to be tempted away by the same exact thing? Commuting is also doable, as others have said. There are people who make that commute in real life, and he definitely could have done just a few days and then teleworking or whatever. And yes - mind your own business, people! Why do you care so much where Brian is? You don't have to ask every time you see Jenny! They seemed to be majorly overdoing the lovey-dovey stuff on Brian's part. Did anyone else notice in the beginning of the movie, he kept saying ILY to Jenny and she wasn't saying it back? It was weird. The B&B blogger's reactions to the general store owner actually amused me. Maybe I am giving them too much credit here, but I thought she was purposely supposed to be over the top attracted to him.
  20. As a dog lover, I think she should have gotten more negative points for drunkenly adopting a dog and then returning it the next day.
  21. I have been rewatching the episodes after people have pointed out some of the interesting continuity and to catch anything I missed the first time. One thing I noticed that I'm wondering about. When Eleanor forgot Janet's name and Chidi had to keep saying it for her, Janet didn't pop in on them until Eleanor repeated the name. The only reason I can think of is because Chidi was wording it like a question - "You mean Janet?" But I thought last season that Janet popped up just any time someone said her name. Am I missing something?
