S03.E08: The Worst Possible Use of Free Will
EyewatchTV211 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in The Good Place [V]
I do, too! All the time! It's supposedly related to anxiety. -
I didn't like the first Mrs. Miracle movie but love the 2nd. I forget why I disliked the first one so much at this point since I avoid watching it now, I just know that I didn't like it, lol. Something about it had bothered me a lot. But like I said, I really liked the 2nd. Not just because it introduced me to Eric Johnson, but that helped! Wish he was in a few more of these, although I don't think I cared for the 1 other (?) that he did.

I wanted to like Christmas Joy, because I like the lead actors a lot. But I didn't see any romantic chemistry between them at all, just friendship, so it was hard for me to get pulled in. Michael Rady definitely improved Christmas at Pemberley Manor. I'm a fan of his for sure. I was doing some work during Road to Christmas, but I enjoyed the bit that I paid attention to. Will have to watch again. I also got vibes of the one brother and his business partner being in a relationship, but it definitely wasn't referenced specifically.

I volunteer with a dog rescue. We get a lot of dogs from the Amish puppy mills. Many are in bad shape because, in addition to the minimal care and poor treatment they get in general, the dogs don't receive vet care when needed. I'm another one who isn't a fan of Depp being in the movie. Will probably wait until it airs on TV or somewhere before seeing it.

Sorry for two posts in a row, but I guess I am the only one still currently watching. Just finished. The first big laughs out of me came in Why Kill a Busboy? at the end when Danza's character was moaning about how much money in alcohol they would have to replace, and then every time TJ gave him a look, he got a little closer to the truth about how much money in alcohol they'd be replacing. Caught up on the rest of the season and agree with many others' observations. Cora started to bother me more as the season went on. And I agree that she and Burl were very insensitive when they joked about the woman's body being in 2 parts. I hate snakes, so I actually had to turn away when the snake was making it's way along TJ. I don't even want to imagine what that would be like! Danza's character often bothered me, plus Cora, and TJ did in the bowling episode. Yet somehow the show was still kind of a comforting watch and I got through the episodes by watching one before bed each night. It probably helped that the TV in my bedroom was broken, so I would watch on my computer on Netflix when there were fewer options than usual.

This reminds me - I feel like I have said this every year but I will repeat it. With how many Jews there are apparently are in entertainment, you'd think Hallmark or one of these channels might have one working for them in some capacity who would promote making at least one Chanukah/Hanukkah movie. There have been a few mixed Christmas/Chanukah movies over the years but nothing recently. I feel like it would change things up a bit, and I think Chanukah as a holiday lends itself very nicely to a romantic movie (miracle occurring over 8 nights/days). We talk about needing more racial/ethnic diversity and sexual orientation diversity - let's add religious diversity. And not to be selfish with what I am familiar with, at least as someone who considers herself more culturally Jewish, I'm all for others as well. I'm not as familiar with some other religions' holidays that may/may not be around this time of year, but why not (yeah, I know this is probably less likely to happen and potentially most difficult for them)?

S05.E03: Workin' the 'Ween
EyewatchTV211 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Fresh Off The Boat [V]
I've never seen it, but considering that this happened it wouldn't surprise me these days: https://www.tristatehomepage.com/news/local-news/owensboro-man-s-nazi-costume-sparks-criticism-online/1552705089 I think it was relatively popular before the first movie. I saw the first movie with family having not read any of the books. But I remember my cousins had read all of the ones that were out and remember it being pretty big otherwise with other people. I just had not caved to see what the fuss was about. Then I loved the movie and hurried to catch up on the books, and when the next book came out of course it was a huge deal. ETA: I see @Possibilities and I posted similar comments at the same time. -
If I remember the story right, my grandfather thought he was the painter because of how he was dressed when he came to pick up my aunt (white tank/"wife beater" and jeans). He was not pleased to find out the real reason he was there. Lol.

Not sure if anyone here watches Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but Josh had an appearance on the show doing this awesome song. :-) Music sounds dramatic, but funny words. I'm partway through the episodes now. Mostly agree with others' thoughts. I know it's part of Danza's character, but it's annoying that he was supposedly good at his job as a cop prior to being caught as a dirty cop yet he is so easily flattered by so many of these villains that he is blind to their obvious evil (model and Bob Saget). And then him wanting to plead the fifth instead of testifying against the convict out of "loyalty," EVEN when he knew there was a hit out on him that could have had him killed before he could do either. On a fun note - my mom went to school with Tony Danza. He is a little older than her. Her sister went on a date with his brother.

You're welcome. I forget the exact wording, but that was the gist that I got from it. -
Expedition Unknown - General Discussion
EyewatchTV211 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Expedition Unknown
I thought the show explained the connection. They were talking about how some religions believe in heaven and hell, angels and demons in the afterlife. But then the question was raised that some believe that those representatives from the afterlife try to start influencing people before death, such as the possibility that people are possessed by demons. -
It has never even crossed my mind that he has HFA, and I work in a field where I evaluate for that sort of thing. Even now that it has been pointed out, I still don't think so. I think there are other disorders/factors that better explain his issues. And while HFA is generally considered to be incurable, individuals with HFA can learn and improve in their skills and behaviors. I know you weren't the one who originally posted with that theory, but your response was more recent and easier to respond to. Anyway, that's all that I will comment on regarding this topic.

A Discovery Of Witches - General Discussion

January 17th. Here is info on how to get it: https://ew.com/tv/2018/10/05/a-discovery-of-witches-premiere-date/ -
For anyone concerned, this article somewhat references Mike Schur's thinking regarding love triangles and how often they can reset the characters (he acknowledges they know they can't keep doing that). https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/10/good-place-michael-schur-eleanor-chidi

I see no one has commented on last night's movie yet - Falling For You. As usual, I will probably be in the minority with my opinion, but I actually liked this one more than I expected to. While it avoided some of the things that bother me about other movies (not so much a stupid misunderstanding as realistic career issues getting in the way - but handled like adults, the usual interrupted first kiss but glad she attempted again right away), I'm not sure that's why I liked it. I can't really say why. The lead guy was another that was a bit bland, but it still worked. I could do without those silly little fake fall trees, though. And would still be nice if a couple's first attempt at kissing wasn't interrupted at all.

Thanks for the info. I can see a court doing that, as you say. But public schools, I would be shocked anywhere in the US. The whole point is that we take any child, no matter what. We do not pick and choose students like private schools and many charter schools. Like I said in a previous post, there are extreme cases where students cannot be served by a public school and must then be served elsewhere at the district's expense. Those are rare, extreme cases though. Maybe a little more frequent in small, rural districts with few program types if there are tough situations. I do not have experiences there. The particular case and situation on this show bothered me, however. And we've had plenty of students demonstrating very challenging behavior. There seem to be more and more these days...

What state was that in? Like I mentioned - everywhere I've been, there's definitely been plenty of kids that we thought would benefit from being on ADHD meds. But we can't force a parent to do it. So it would never get to court anyway. Though I've never been in districts with actual school psychiatrists (I'm a school psychologist). I didn't even know there were school psychiatrists, but something did come up when I googled it. So I guess it could be trickier in those situations. It still surprises me that a school could even try to force it, though.
