  1. Sophie Trudeau, wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, tested positive and he is in self-isolation.
  2. A second Jazz player tested positive, Donovan Mitchell, and another was tested but his result hasn't been released. In the 10 days before the canceled Oklahoma game the Jazz played the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors and those teams were told to self-quarantine. Disneyland is closing on Saturday and the Disney hotels are closing after the weekend, all plays on Broadway have been suspended, Major League Baseball canceled spring training and opening day is on hold. There will be financial hardships that can't be avoided but these are good moves, health-wise.

Chica = girl in Spanish. Maybe she means the pockets are deep like men's pockets and not shallow like women's pockets. That's my guess.
  4. The state of Utah, Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County have declared states of emergency within the last week. The state will receive $6 million in assistance from the feds. 139 people have been tested thus far, five are positive, tests are being done in tents far removed from existing facilities. A state of emergency is necessary to make legal such measures as curfews, travel restrictions, bans, closures, etc. The governor has advised that gatherings of more than 100 people should be avoided (except for schools and businesses) and advised those older than 60 to avoid gatherings of more than 20 people. The LDS church suspended services and activities worldwide, (twice-a-year) General Conference in SLC next month will be closed to the public but available via internet and TV. We're fairly sparsely populated here, there are only 3 million people in the entire state!
  5. There is a worldwide plan but most countries are ignoring it. With cases in 110 countries now, this is an extremely unfortunate response. "The World Health Organization is supposed to coordinate the global response to epidemics. But the U.N. agency cannot force countries to play by international rules." https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/12/world/coronavirus-world-health-organization.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage

Journey's Steve Perry, his brows look like that but only when he sings. He was a little hottie in the 70s. But as for Mykelti's brows? Self-induced or not, bless her heart.
  7. She could start by cleaning the filth out of her vacuum cleaner. Why am I not surprised?
  8. Utah has 4 cases. The U of U in SLC has gone strictly online and BYU in Happy Valley AKA Provo canceled graduation. The St Patrick's Day parade in SLC will happen and it usually draws 10-15,000 spectators. Marianne Williamson posted a 15-minute Cororavirus meditation video today and tonight Jimmy Kimmel condensed it to about 30 seconds. LMAO. "Anxiety and fear diminish the body's immune response system. Let them go. Let the light enter. Feel the light enter your heart. Your stomach. Your cervix. Your vagina. Your penis. Your buttocks. Ahhhhh. Go wash your hands."
  9. All the Jazz players, coaches and staff who were in Oklahoma for the game will remain there in quarantine until further notice. There is no known time frame as to when they can be allowed to return to Utah. It was estimated that Jazz player Gobert who tested positive had recent close contact with 50 NBA players (and other personnel as well but that number wasn't mentioned).
  10. This is how it went down: Jazz-Thunder game suddenly postponed in Oklahoma City just before tip. Right as both teams were finishing warming up on the floor, the Thunder’s head medical director came sprinting out onto the floor and grabbed the officials - who then sent players to their respective benches while they and both coach Billy Donovan and Quinn Snyder conferred in front of the scorer’s table. Shortly after, both teams and the officials left the floor completely. Fans had already piled in to Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, and players were warming up normally on the floor. While both teams were in the locker rooms, the Thunder proceeded to run the scheduled halftime performance and throw out shirts to fans inside the arena. Officials then announced that the game would be postponed to a later date without specifying a reason, and that everyone needs to leave the arena. The arena announcer assured fans multiple times that there was no emergency. The Jazz announced Wednesday that center Rudy Gobert was questionable for the matchup due to “illness,” which came just days after he touched every media member’s microphone and recorder to make a point about the coronavirus. There is no reason to believe, however, that he has COVID-19. Emmanuel Mudiay was also listed as questionable with an illness. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/jazz-thunder-game-suddenly-postponed-in-oklahoma-city-just-before-tip/ar-BB1149Hw?li=BBnbfcL UPDATE: 9:27 p.m. — Rudy Gobert has tested positive for coronavirus according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. UPDATE: 9:32 p.m. — Following the cancellation of the Thunder and Jazz game, the NBA has suspended the season.
  11. Depending on the country, the area, in question, the severity of the outbreak will put the most elderly and compromised people into a status similar to hospice. Automatically. Measures will not be taken. And the age will be bumped down in greater or lesser degrees, depending on the locale. This seems new but it isn't, it's just that information travels more efficiently and there is wider access to it now. 2009 (the last pandemic) was a long time ago, relatively speaking.
  12. IA. And as the infection rate increases singular encounters will gain nearly as much importance as crowd events. A infects B in the morning and C in the afternoon and D the next day. Within a few days B infects one or two people (or no one), C infects seven people and D sets up a chain that infects 500. Tumblin' dice.
  13. I've been ordering groceries online and picking them up since November because I've become more easily short of breath and it saves me from walking around a huge store. The only place I can afford is WalMart (I wish that wasn't the case) but the cool thing about shopping there is that I can put anything in the store on my order, not just groceries. Picture frame, bingo, curtain rod, bingo. I like that I can add to the order for days until I check out and that my previous items are saved in a list and it's easy to go click, click, click, order those again. I also like having plenty of time to figure out the best deal instead of thinking "How long have I been standing in this aisle using my calculator while people wish they could elbow me out of the way?" I'm not a great cook, not creative, just the basics and, boy howdy, my pantry reflects that. It was different when I was married but that was long ago and too often now I think about buying something only when I need it and don't have it. I saw a helpful article about stocking last week so I added a few extras and will do that for a couple more weeks until I feel better about what I have on hand. Anyway, thought I would share the link for any here who might be pantry stocking-challenged like me. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/06/dining/how-to-stock-a-pantry.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage
  14. I think abundance of caution is necessary because the WHO announced today that it has declared a pandemic, the first since 2009. Officials worldwide are saying the numbers thus far appear somewhat small but that is because testing has been proportionately minimal (compared to other viruses/illnesses). Not only is the number of test kits deficient but the ingredients needed to produce test kits are deficient. You can't treat, quarantine or control what you can't find and a sufficient number of test kits is not on the menu. The biggest problem is going to be that large numbers of people are mingling without symptoms while they are infectious.
  15. Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years! He will be issued 4 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, a jacket, boots and sneakers. His head will be shaved unless there is a valid religious objection. He will be showered and de-loused. In addition to that, Los Angeles County has begun the extradition process so that it can prosecute him on 2 counts. The question is, how much will this be discussed on MJ tomorrow and will Joey be on camera when it happens?
  16. [Video segment of today's show]. Bitsy: I'm not gonna let Coronavirus rule me and let it be an idol. Just. Wow. Evidently the tape in her head is playing You shall not make for yourself an idol of any kind; Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves molten gods; They served idols, although the Lord had told them you shall not do this thing; They enraged him with their high places and provoked his jealousy with their idols. She confabulates logic and common sense with idolatry! So much not a critical thinker, and always cops a self-righteous attitude when that is directly or indirectly pointed out to her. As much as it pains me, if absolutely forced to do so I would have to choose Meghan over her. Sunny: My kids' school closed, and so they're home. My mom is in her 70s and so she's part of the at-risk group so I think we're all .. Joy: They say only if you have been compromised or are at risk, so ... Sunny: She has asthma so we are being very careful at home, extra careful, because she lives with us. I think everyone should be extra careful because if you, yourself, are not at risk I'm sure that there's someone you live with or work with or can come into contact with that is at risk. You have to take care of your fellow neighbor.* (The sly and cunning portion of Bitsy's brain realizes that Sunny has made a compassionate and logical point so to counter that she blathers about panic, Purell and prayer). *This is being a good citizen. This is one of the reasons why you get your children vaccinated, so that they don't pass measles or chicken pox to pregnant women. (Which often results in blindness, deafness and/or mental retardation). https://daytimeconfidential.com/2020/03/11/watch-elisabeth-hasselbeck-squares-off-with-the-view-panelists-over-coronavirus
  17. They originally aired that montage in December 2018 backed by The Allman Brothers' "Ramblin' Man." Today's viewing was accompanied by Dion's The Wanderer. They are equally funny. My very favorite clip is when he climbed the long, long set of stairs to Air Force One with toilet paper stuck to his shoe. I guess it wasn't included because technically it is not rambling or wandering. Heh.
  18. Haven't watched for many years because I just can't but came here wondering what the show is like sans audience. TIA.
  19. And being dumbfounded by any family that isn"t exactly like hers and wondering "Where are the parents?"

Not a cat, then. Obviously a time traveling shapeshifter.
  21. Sometimes it pays to look back and remember that seeing yourself as a victim is a tenet of their faith. It's one of wily Joseph Smith's earliest and most fervent teachings. The Netflix documentary called Mormons (watched by a lot of posters here) does a great job of outlining Smith's crimes in chronological order, making it easy to see how and why reasonable, law abiding neighbors and citizens, for many years in many states, reacted with indignation to his crimes and his motives for committing them. He was a cunning crook who painted being held accountable as persecution and falsely likened the depth of his persecution to the depth of his righteousness. Missionaries are taught that the more doors slammed in their faces, the more proof that their beliefs are true. There is very little difference between mainstream LDS and fundie LDS. None of the Browns are adult converts, all were raised in all of the basic LDS tenets. Looking at it that way helps us to see why they are constantly claiming to be victims. Their instinct and their constant "need" to justify being evicted (or whatever else) springs from a very deep well. It's nearly in their DNA. Joseph Smith was a convicted charlatan and Utah leads the nation in fraud, bankruptcy, and MLMs. Hmmm. It's like the gorgeous bitch on wheels who says "They hate me because I'm beautiful." Sad, and delusional.
  22. "roots almost there" What means? When the roots are long enough she's going to cut off the colored hair?

  24. I have lots of blonde peach fuzz in the area where sideburns would be, continuing down to my jawline. Lots of blonde peach fuzz where a mustache would be. Random chin strays that are Not Blonde and a fuzzy blonde soul patch! Yay! So, yeah, I've been shaving my cheeks, chin and upper lip once a week. I've seen mini-scalpels that you scrape with but I figured, klutz that I am, there might be too many variables in consistently finding the correct angle. So I just use a disposable razor and any thick, rich women's shaving cream/gel. If there are 50 pores in a square inch of my face, 40 are congested: a permanent white dot sits in each of those 40 pores, usually not raised but still quite visible. The longer the dots hang around the bigger chance they will enlarge further and turn into something big and ugly. Every white pore contains a little worm or spaghetti strand. After I steam, use a mask or express manually my skin looks and feels wonderful for 24-36 hours but the pores clog up again within 48 hours - with or without Retinol, with or without moisturizer, with or without serum. Gah! Shaving has made things 90% better. An esthetician told me that my congestion occurs because each hair acts as a wick for bacteria and the wick also causes the pore to hang onto the oil, so she advised shaving (to remove the roof on the pore) and using gel moisturizer instead of cream moisturizer. She said (and I read online) that Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor shaved -Marilyn was fuzzy and Liz was furry - so I was like alrighty then, sign me up. MargeGunderson is so right, lotion and foundation go on much easier. Shaving is a big damn deal lately so that's why I wondered how many here might also be indulging. What do we want? Shaving! When do we want it? Now!
  25. So. Who shaves their face? Anyone? I've been doing it for awhile and I love the result. It's solved nearly all of my complaints about my constantly congested complexion. I haven't had pores this small since I was a teenager and my skin is silky smooth.
