In the Laurel thread, I commented that I thought that Laurel would have an increased role in S4 because TPTB want to promote their costumed superheroes. Possible storylines she could be involved in? -- Mending her relationship with Quentin, dealing with Sara's resurrection and becoming WC, continued fight and weapons training, continued friendship with Nyssa, involvement with Nyssa's fight with Malcolm/LOA and by extension, the fight with Damien Darhk/HIVE, dealing with Oliver's baby mama drama (remember, he was with Laurel at the time), getting a new love interest, more with her mother Dinah, a new phase of her relationship with Oliver, return of Helena and a BOP-type story, doing her ADA job and dealing with the SC mayor, getting her own nemesis, etc.

Respectfully, I think that Laurel will have an increased role in S4 because TPTB want to promote the BC. We've already seen their focus on costumed superheroes - and they've gotten criticism for their lack of female superheroes. So I think they will beef up her participation on the show. I also wouldn't be surprised if Laurel/BC will also cross over to The Flash and LoT a few times. I also wouldn't be surprised if they try to even out her fighting abilities with Oliver's a little by having him slack off on training during the summer hiatus (his "vacation") while she's training hard during those five months. As for her popularity, she's already gotten what I call the "costume" advantage - just fighting in a superhero costume seems to up a character's popularity all by itself on these DC tv shows. The EW wins are significant because it shows the strength of the online Arrow fanbase - that enough online fans were interested and cared enough to vote for the Arrow nominees to get them these wins.

Someone recently pointed out the pen colors in this episode - I never noticed it before, and I'm sure it was unintentional by the Arrow staff, but it's interesting to note in light of the red/blue symbolism theory discussed since then (esp. in S3)... (source of gifs) (source of pen color comment)

I had to Google "in media res". The phrase "in medias res" is Latin for "into the middle of a thing" and is apparently used to describe a narrative that begins, not at the beginning of a story, but somewhere in the middle or in the midst of action (then flashbacks or exposition are usually used to fill in earlier events).
