Ever since I read the EPs' comment about how they plan a season by first determining where they want to end up at the end of the season and then figuring out how to get there, I've been thinking about how S4 might end. If our speculation is correct about family being the theme of S4, then I'm hoping that S4 will be about the bonds formed among Team Arrow members (as expanded) and how that bond is first healed and then further tested by conflicts with biological family members, and that S4 will end with Team Arrow members realizing that their real 'family' is now the one created by them through loyalty, friendship/love, common cause and shared experiences. Worst case scenario - The EPs further sabotage Felicity's character by having her betray Oliver and/or TA in order to help her father, causing Oliver to break up with her. Or, alternatively, Oliver is manipulated into believing Felicity betrayed him (when she didn't). Then, even though he eventually finds out the truth, Felicity is so disillusioned by his lack of faith in her that she breaks up with him. Best case scenario - Oliver, Felicity and Diggle talk through all of the problems that come up and, together, figure out how to deal with each of them. (Bonus points if Oliver proposes to Felicity in the S4 finale.)

This is interesting -- the CW has posted these approx. 3-minute versions of the first 18 episodes of S3 ("Quick Cuts")... https://twitter.com/CW_Arrow

Agree. When I think of someone who moves like she has a ballet background, I think of Summer Glau as River Tam and the way River smoothly and gracefully fought her way through a club and later through a pack of Reavers in Serenity.

I agree with both lists above. I would also add: S3 provided a ton of great material for some fantastic O&F fan videos, as well as some hilarious photo recaps of episodes by fans (still laughing over that Nanda Parbat resort hotel one).

Since we know that SA signed a 6-year contract, it seems likely that KC also signed a 6-year contract. I remember reading an interview with Paul Blackthorne in which he described Sara as the adventurous, risk-taking daughter and Laurel as the bookworm (or words to that effect). If that is the back story set up for the Lance sisters, then it makes sense that Sara is more likely to have done a lot of physical activities growing up, while Laurel was more often studying or reading. This would also lead to Sara being more prepared to undertake martial arts training, while making it even more improbable that Laurel could take on League assassins after only 6 months fight training.

I love that the Original Team Arrow members are taking the top 3 spots in that poll (I'd be happy with any combination of Arrow, Felicity and Diggle in those spots). Hope it stays that way until the poll closes at 11:28am PDT on Sunday, June 21st, 2015.

Ever since S3 ended, completing the "trilogy" of the first three seasons, I've been worried about the next three seasons (since SA confirmed that he signed a 6-year contract) and that Felicity might be turned into the 'Gwen Stacy' of the Arrowverse. Then I found this response by Laura Hurley, TV/film critic for Examiner.com and WhatCulture.com, on her tumblr page (I just hope she's right)... laurawritesabout said: Hi, Anon! Great question. I hope you don’t mind if I drag Thea into my answer. From a meta perspective, the Arrow writers don’t have the greatest track record when it comes to killing off female characters for the sake of advancing the plot, and sending Felicity to her death would certainly give them one of those great big “Gotcha!” moments that they’re so fond of. Just look at the deaths of Moira and Shado and Sara. Nevertheless, the only point in the show that I could see executives actually allowing Felicity Smoak to die on Arrow would be if the show was winding down and ratings no longer mattered. From a storytelling perspective, however, the waters are a bit murkier. Oliver is 30 years old and has been living a life of deprivation and violence for the past 8 years; at this point in the narrative, he is much farther along than Peter Parker or Matt Murdock were in their vigilante journeys at the time of their respective tragedies. Oliver is past the point of needing motivation to keep fighting. Fighting is all that keeps him going at times. Oliver needs motivation to want to have a life beyond the bare minimum requirements - physical, social, and emotional - for survival. Frankly, Oliver’s Gwen Stacy was his father’s suicide or Sara’s flashback “deaths” or Shado’s execution. He’s on the upswing now. That’s why I truly believe that there are only two characters aside from Oliver himself who are safe from being permanently killed off. They are the two people who Oliver loves most in the world and quite possibly the only two for whom he would have made his deal with the devil to bring back to life. They are the only two characters that Oliver has never managed to entirely compartmentalize into tidy little boxes in his brain. Thea and Felicity. Short of the actresses choosing to leave the show or the producers getting desperate and sacrificing story for spectacle, Thea and Felicity cannot die if Oliver is to continue his growth from the soulless Hood of Season 1 to a fully realized Green Arrow. He’s already lost too much, and so much of him is invested in his love for these two women that he could never recover from one of them dying from unnatural causes. Ever. The show has gone too far in connecting his humanity to their roles in his life. They are the only surviving characters whose relationships always revolved around Oliver having a good heart underneath all of the gruff and growl. Thea is his last remaining connection to the person that he was before the island whose memories of him are not tarnished by immaturity and infidelity, and Felicity is the first person that he saw as a person after the island who grew to love him when she had no reason to do anything but give up on him. Now, Arrow is not ending anytime soon. The original game plan was for five seasons. Thanks to the fact that I basically view all television through the incredibly unhealthy lens of The X-Files, I almost never swear by any endgame before the final credits roll. By the series finale, it’s entirely possible that Olicity will be separate and the show will revisit Lauriver and Felicity will be outed as a cyborg sleeper agent who techno-hypnotized Oliver into thinking that he loved her despite his super duper skeletal soulmate connection with Laurel. I will say right now, however, that I don’t believe that the show would be so incredibly shortsighted as to hamstring both the narrative and the hero’s development by turning Felicity into yet another Gwen Stacy for Oliver Queen. May 18, 2015 3:11 am http://laurawritesabout.tumblr.com/post/119262812031/post-finale-i-have-one-question-in-final FYI, there are other interesting Arrow-related responses by Hurley (where she writes about Diggle/Felicity, endgame, Laurel's increased popularity, Felicity hate, the love interest curse, the "mytharc" for S4, what is and is not 'fan service', and fandoms on social media) on her tumblr page: http://laurawritesabout.tumblr.com/tagged/Arrow

I'm curious - do you think that resurrecting Sara will remove that tarnish? You're right about Isabel - I forgot about her.
-
I actually prefer Felicity's longer, thicker hair from past seasons. Her shorter, layered style makes her hair look thinner. And I hated her corporate hairstyle in the Flash crossover with Ray. But regardless of hairstyle, she always looks great.

I think the EPs saw no difference between a sister taking over for a sister (Laurel for Sara) and a daughter taking over for a mother (comics BC). But there is a difference, and I'm not sure how to articulate that difference, but here goes... Children often take over an inheritance or legacy from parents (family business, profession, etc.). So there's something natural about a parent retiring or dying, and then the child wanting to carry on that family business or legacy. Siblings, however, often go in different directions when it comes to careers, and it's not as usual for one sibling to take over another sibling's calling. Since siblings are around the same generation, it's also not usual for one sibling to take over another sibling's calling because that other sibling died. Even if that sibling died from disease or murder, a sibling wouldn't necessarily then assume the deceased sibling's job because they would already be immersed in their own career. With the parent-to-child passing of the torch, it's highly unlikely that both parent and child will have had sex with the same partner - so no 'ickiness' factor, like there is with the sister-swapping. And when two sisters are around the same age, there's too much of a SWF vibe to it. The parent-to-child passing of the torch is a way of human immortality -- where the legacy, line or business extends into the future, past one generation's natural life. A sibling-to-sibling passing of the torch might work if done right, with one sibling asking and the other sibling accepting. But one sibling grabbing the torch from the dead sibling without the latter's knowledge or permission also has a SWF vibe to it. That is why it would've worked better if (as others have said) Sara had still been alive to see, train and bless Laurel's transformation into the BC. (Although we might very well see the resurrected Sara blessing Laurel, as well as a weapons-swapping scene between Oliver and Laurel, next season.) It also would've worked better if the transformation was more believable - where Laurel either (1) quit her job as an ADA to train intensely on a full-time basis for several months, before she went out as a fledgling BC, or (2) continued to work as an ADA but squeezed in training in her free time, in which case she wouldn't become the BC for a few years.

Using the multiverses trope on Arrow could be a way for the EPs to (try to) please all shipper fans, although it would be a cheat - like in the Archie comics where Archie is married to Veronica in one reality and married to Betty in another reality. I was reading Jenny Raftery's twitter and someone suggested Richard Armitage to play someone who's part of Bratva. I'd be so on board for that.

I'm happy Felicity is first as well. The fan comments on that poll are also interesting - there's a WestAllen shipper who absolutely hates her.
