  1. You never know; Harley Quinn is cannon now, but she was originally created just for the Animated Series. And a few ideas/characters from Smallville have made it into the comics for Superman. It really helps to look at this show as unconnected to any previous Batman continuity. But I agree that having so many of the iconic characters (especially the villains) here and so early is problematic. I don't like it either, but I'm willing to give the show a chance.
  2. So with all CBS procedurals, there's the Smarty-pants Know-it-all who makes everyone else look dumb at their jobs. So, on this show there's four of those characters? Pass.
  3. Ah, thanks. I'll have to test that out.
  4. I can't embed the videos from my crappy laptop, but there's a behind-the-scenes special online. (I haven't watched it yet) I don't have a problem with the marketing, but I'm getting a little nervous -- what was the last show that got promoted heavily then got cancelled in one season or less?
  5. Yeah, they squeeze in "Ivy Pepper"(ugh), but omit Leslie Thompkins, who would logically be a major character in young Bruce's story?? I'm hoping they find a way to bring her in sooner rather than later.
  6. Info and images from the upcoming comic: I can't stand the ridiculous direction the show is going in now, but I'm glad to see the Marvel/Disney/ABC corporate partnership deal working out.
  7. Yeah, this was the last good season. I finished out Season 4, but they actually lost me halfway through --
  8. Two-night premiere: --- I still have the New Amsterdam pilot on my computer, so I'm going to be comparing it to this show a lot when it airs. The biggest difference, it seems, from all the other similar premises, is that this guy doesn't know why he is immortal. Hmmm... speaking of of immortal crimefighters/detectives/vampires, has this ever been done with a female lead? (I'm guessing No; none come to mind.)
  9. I know it's going to be the main color scheme, but I hope they don't have everyone in shades of gray all the time. ;-) The size of the cast (and (visual) tone) kinda reminds me of Prison Break. I assume that we won't see everyone in every episode; but I hope that it doesn't end up like PB season 2, in which there were several storylines going on that barely intersected.
  10. This show is already pretty "out there", but yet the only thing I can't suspend disbelief for is the robot kid. There are just too many things to handwave. Anyway, the one moment that took me out of the show this week: WhatsHerFace and Gym Guy have these awesome technologically advanced robo-limbs in the future, and then she gives him her contact info with paper. Not that I think paper will be obsolete in the near future, but it seemed especially out of place with that character. And I keep wondering what this show would be like if the people that worked on Fringe were in charge.
  11. I'm in the same place. I'm neutral on Gillian, and Cho (who I love) looks like the only good thing here -- and that's not enough for me to keep watching.
  12. If anyone is more interested in "tiny" living, Tiny House Blog has articles and resources. I stumbling upon it looking for RV websites.
  13. I was just thinking about Poison Ivy and the other villains/future villains they've included so far in the show, and it occurred to me that she's the only one with sci-fi powers (according to previous incarnations). Of course, she may end up not having any powers in this version of Batman, but I thought it was interesting considering that all the other villains they picked (so far) are closer to "reality". (And Batman does have a few outlandish, sci-fi villains in his rogues gallery.) From what I understand about the tone (of the show) and the story/stories they want to tell, it makes sense that they'd leave out the sci-fi villains; but yet they included Ivy-- in the first season. Interesting.
  14. Well, I'm glad that they decided to release it on DVD. I almost thought it was never going to happen. But no info on special features?
  15. Casting news: David Zayas cast as Sal Maroni.
  16. I don't think that is true, but even if it was, isn't that generation (part of) the target demo anyway?
  17. I already ranted about the name change elsewhere, but I'll just say again, it was unnecessary because Poison Ivy is already one of the more recognizable villains (which is the whole reason why she's even showing up on this show!). Anyway, I wish that we learn more about the Wayne family (any other relatives??) and Alfred. Those aspects of the Batman haven't been explored much.
  18. Heh. But that scene is the defining moment of Batman, so I can see why they wanted to make it very dramatic. Yeah, they kept showing that little clip, but I want to wait to judge it until I see it in the context of the entire Pilot. I also am not happy that they're going to be spending time on the "pre-villains", but I feel the show has potential in exploring Gordon and his relationship to the police department and the city, and young Bruce and his relationship with Alfred. From interviews, etc., the producers seem more excited to explore the villains, but the Alfred/Bruce mentor/mentee(?) relationship has almost never been explored in other media, so I hope they don't drop the ball on that.
  19. Creators Explain Not-Cancellation.
  20. I was just thinking about Hugh Jackman and how one day he's not going to want to do those workouts anymore, and I'll feel sorry for the next guy playing Wolverine, since Jackman basically owns that role.(Six movies (plus a cameo) y'all!!)
  21. My theory is that this "cancellation" is more about the show not fitting the demographics that Nick wants, rather than actual ratings. Maybe they can air it on TeenNick?
  22. Tie-in website: Gotham Chronicle.
  23. Interview with Robin Taylor (Cobblepot). Interesting; I didn't realize they put a prosthetic nose on him.
  24. Interview with showrunner Bruno Heller. Spoiler-phobes beware, it mentions a few things that happen in the pilot and second episode, and talks about the direction of a couple of characters. And just in case anyone needs a head's up; the Pilot will be screened at Comic-Con this weekend, so spoilers will going around the internet.
  25. I would have thought that we'd see Harvey Dent before kid!Ivy, since in some continuities he was a classmate of Bruce. And since we're dealing with the childhood of Bruce Wayne I'm surprised Leslie Thompkins(sp?) hasn't been cast.
