I was randomly thinking about Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance*, and I know that was a streaming mini-series, but does anyone else have examples of films depicting matriarchal societies? Off the top of my head, I could only think of Barbie, and the Themyscira scenes in the Wonder Woman films. Of course, there are lots of films with women as rulers/leaders or in power, but that's not exactly the same thing. *(Some context if one hasn't seen it: the fantasy race of Gelfings are divided into tribes, and each tribe has a queen, and all the tribes are ruled by one queen. The females are are at the top of the power structures, and the females also have the ability to fly, unlike the males. However, (as I recall) males don't seem to be treated as second-class citizens, even though it's a matriarchal society.)

It could be both? Either way, they dropped that crumb of a sister(??) earlier in the season, I'm assuming they are going to follow up on that. LOL -- it will make no sense, but they will continue their talks, I'm sure!

Okay, so there were a few unexpected twists. I really didn't think Sir would be captured so soon; but I'm glad they didn't draw it out for the whole season, which I was afraid they would do. But now Christian is on the run -- but you'd think he shouldn't be if he's (mostly??) innocent. ... And just typing that out makd me think, maybe he is being held captive somewhere? So is that the end of the Bella Bedroom flashbacks? Again, this seemed like something that would go on forever, glad they decided to pivot. Wow, surprised Lacey's mom actually met Sir! Did she ever tell Gabi or Lacey? I'm guessing Sir stalking Gabi at college is the next set of flashbacks? But I kinda hope not, because I think it will be repetitive. COTW: Yikes! Did not see 'dead kid in the backyard' as a complication. I did like that the missing boy had two caring fathers, and that he gained a brother as well. But even with his two fathers it was interesting for them to show how he could still fall through the cracks: he was actually found, but the parents were not informed. I did think it was a little too neat that everyone decided to leave M&A at the same time, so I'm glad it was revealed to be a ruse. (I was almost thinking it was a dream sequence, somehow!) I assume Gabi's arrest will last 5 minutes since they supposedly got rid of all the evidence of Sir's kidnapping, and SIr most likely isn't going to implicate Gabi for his own reasons. OF COURSE, now that Margaret is making progress her son(??) shows up. Somebody on this board called it. I'm not sure what to think. Whether that's her son or not, it seems that would be her story for the rest of the season.

M&A races against the clock to search for a missing Black, non-neurotypical boy before he suffers from an emotional breakdown. The cat-and-mouse game between Sir and Gabi comes to a head. Margaret is approached by a familiar face. Airdate: January 30, 2025

Well, that part I didn't think was far-fetched. People all over the world learn English; that's probably partly how they got hired in the first place.

I don't even understand this. What are they afraid of??

No. This is another way to target the undocumented. If you read the article:

Maybe this kept getting pushed back because it wasn't that good? At least it showed that the assistants can easily be deleted from the show. I did notice how they used every word except 'slavery' to describe the situation of the Vietnamese workers.

Another couple interviews with showrunner Craig Sweeney; has some teases for future story arcs and spoilers, if you haven't seen the pilot: '‘Watson’ Boss Talks Casting [ Spoiler] as Moriarty, Major Betrayal for Watson & More' '‘Watson’ Creator On Premiere Twist & Moriarty Casting Reveal, Sherlock Easter Eggs & ‘House’ Comparisons'

This wasn't bad, but it's still very Standard Medical Procedural, outside of the Sherlock Holmes lore. Willing to give it a chance, though. (I might end up watching this in any case; my mom will watch anything Sherlock Holmes -related. Anything.) Downsides: I already hate the twins, and I'm so over the 'exes working together' trope. Randall Park is going to have to work hard to get me to buy him as an evil mastermind. Morris Chestnut is pretty; but I need more than eye candy to stick with something. (Looking at you, Tracker.) Moriarty has a M-shaped hand -- ha ha, cute -- but seriously; I wonder if they'll ever give an explanation about why he never got his hand fixed.

This is tonight, I don't know if a topic can be made here or in another forum?

Even if it doesn't become a widespread problem among humans, just the repercussions among the animals grown for foods is going to have ripple effects.

I'm not a party planner, and I had to plan/organize a celebration for my mom's milestone birthday; it went well, and I'm sooo grateful for all the help and participation from various people! My advice for anyone else who might be in the same predicament: make it a team project. Start early.

When the bird flu hits epidemic levels (it's coming y'all), it's going to so much worse because of this administration's anti-science, anti-accountability stance; and the price of eggs is only going to be one problem from that.

Trailers & New Movies: Coming Soon to a Cinema Near You!
Trini replied to nymusix's topic in Everything Else About Movies
I'm sure this is going to have a bunch of dark humor, but I still don't like that they're trying to market this as some type of wacky comedy; when that is definitely not this director's brand. And obligatory mention of my general pet peeve of showing scenes from the third and/or final act of the movie in the trailer. -
The pilot is airing tonight after football, so there might be a delay. Set your DVRs accordingly.

Morris Chestnut stars as Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders six months after the death of his friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, at the hands of Moriarty. Watson's old life isn't done with him, though: Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. Airdate: January 26, 2025
