  1. I was just thinking about Poison Ivy and the other villains/future villains they've included so far in the show, and it occurred to me that she's the only one with sci-fi powers (according to previous incarnations). Of course, she may end up not having any powers in this version of Batman, but I thought it was interesting considering that all the other villains they picked (so far) are closer to "reality". (And Batman does have a few outlandish, sci-fi villains in his rogues gallery.) From what I understand about the tone (of the show) and the story/stories they want to tell, it makes sense that they'd leave out the sci-fi villains; but yet they included Ivy-- in the first season. Interesting.
  2. Well, I'm glad that they decided to release it on DVD. I almost thought it was never going to happen. But no info on special features?
  3. Casting news: David Zayas cast as Sal Maroni.
  4. I don't think that is true, but even if it was, isn't that generation (part of) the target demo anyway?
  5. I already ranted about the name change elsewhere, but I'll just say again, it was unnecessary because Poison Ivy is already one of the more recognizable villains (which is the whole reason why she's even showing up on this show!). Anyway, I wish that we learn more about the Wayne family (any other relatives??) and Alfred. Those aspects of the Batman haven't been explored much.
  6. Heh. But that scene is the defining moment of Batman, so I can see why they wanted to make it very dramatic. Yeah, they kept showing that little clip, but I want to wait to judge it until I see it in the context of the entire Pilot. I also am not happy that they're going to be spending time on the "pre-villains", but I feel the show has potential in exploring Gordon and his relationship to the police department and the city, and young Bruce and his relationship with Alfred. From interviews, etc., the producers seem more excited to explore the villains, but the Alfred/Bruce mentor/mentee(?) relationship has almost never been explored in other media, so I hope they don't drop the ball on that.
  7. Creators Explain Not-Cancellation.
  8. I was just thinking about Hugh Jackman and how one day he's not going to want to do those workouts anymore, and I'll feel sorry for the next guy playing Wolverine, since Jackman basically owns that role.(Six movies (plus a cameo) y'all!!)
  9. My theory is that this "cancellation" is more about the show not fitting the demographics that Nick wants, rather than actual ratings. Maybe they can air it on TeenNick?
  10. Tie-in website: Gotham Chronicle.
  11. Interview with Robin Taylor (Cobblepot). Interesting; I didn't realize they put a prosthetic nose on him.
  12. Interview with showrunner Bruno Heller. Spoiler-phobes beware, it mentions a few things that happen in the pilot and second episode, and talks about the direction of a couple of characters. And just in case anyone needs a head's up; the Pilot will be screened at Comic-Con this weekend, so spoilers will going around the internet.
  13. I would have thought that we'd see Harvey Dent before kid!Ivy, since in some continuities he was a classmate of Bruce. And since we're dealing with the childhood of Bruce Wayne I'm surprised Leslie Thompkins(sp?) hasn't been cast.
  14. So... like one half of every other buddy cop team on TV in recent years.
  15. Seriously? The thread title hasn't been fixed yet?
  16. Shame on me, I hadn't even thought of Hamill! That would be great. And there's hope, because they convinced him to do a cameo for Chuck, so I assume this is an easier sell. I wish they would keep the Joker out of this. Even a "pre-Joker". (From interviews, etc, you know they're going to go there.) I know he has various origins, but in my mind, the Joker only exists because Batman exists.
  17. Compare and contrast the show with the comics, TV shows, and movies.
  18. Getting one of the other "Batmen" would be cool, but I was also thinking of other adjacent actors. But now that I think over the list (of the more famous actors from the movies), most of them are unlikely to appear on a network show. Chris O'Donnell is doing TV, but he's with a competing network/studio. ------ Anyway, I kind of hate that they have to(?) throw all these these characters/allusions in the first season (and probably the first episode). Or even have some of them here at all. To me, this seems like the perfect setup to gradually learn more about the character and characters of Gotham.
  19. I'm trying to think of another drama where a pre-teen was part of the main cast, and I'm blanking. Wait-- Seventh Heaven, but that show was about that family. And Touch, and Believe, but those were short-lived. If we're going to be spending time with young Bruce, it might be nice if they expand on his relationship with Alfred.I don't think that's been explored much.
  20. Re-posting my thoughts on the name: I think it's silly that they changed her name. I assume it's for the audience to recognize that she grows up to became Poison Ivy. But it's redundant since they already picked the most recognizable/familiar villains for the cast. And no one else got a name change. That poster is a little too on-the-nose for my taste, with all that foliage in the foreground. And it looks like they're already styling her to look somewhat crazy (the hair). I don't really have any expectations for this character; I wasn't even expecting her to show up so soon.
  21. Think we'll get any cameos from other versions of Batman? I know it's kind of gimmicky, but Smallville had several actors from movies and Lois & Clark show up, and I thought that was fun. I mean, Adam West is still alive right? (::goes to wikipedia::) Whoa; I didn't know he's near 90!
  22. It gives a few details, but I feel this is mostly spoiler free: TVLine Gotham pilot preview. --- Even if they wanted to name her Ivy, they could have done something better than "Pepper". There are lots of plant names that start with 'P'.
  23. Copying from the Spoiler thread since these aren't spoilers:
  24. Heh, yeah. I'm Trini Girl in the afterlife. :) ------ Ben McKenzie interview.
  25. Posters/ads of the cast have been released (can't put a link right now) and confirms that kid!Poison Ivy is named "Ivy Pepper" instead of "Pamela Isley". I think it's silly that they changed her name. I assume it's for the audience to recognize that she grows up to became Poison Ivy. But it's redundant since they already picked the most recognizable/familiar villains for the cast. And no one else got a name change. ------- Since I'm here... Judging from marketing/promotion so far, it looks like WB/DC/Fox are fairly committed to making sure Gotham does well. Unless it totally bombs in the first season, I assume this will get at least two seasons. Also, I hope that the producers and writers take into account that they have several child actors as regulars; because growth spurts are real.
