  1. I've been rewatching Top Chef Masters, and they usually have a wedding challenge where someone has to make a wedding cake. That's a great challenge, and doable in the time limits that the bakers have (including some requirement for piped or fondant floral decoration). Why can't we have nice things like that? (As they did in the older episodes).
  2. I remember the days when the showstopper for patisserie week was a selection of entremets. Those clunky biscuit towers had *nothing* to do with patisserie.
  3. Here in Massachusetts, egg rolls have bubbles, spring rolls are smaller with no bubbles, and summer rolls are wrapped in rice paper. That was not a pastry challenge.
  4. I’m really sorry that we didn’t get to see Dom wrangle her hair on a zip line or swimming. I also slightly enjoyed the fact that she had lost her eyelash extensions on her left eye. She just annoyed me to no end!
  5. Well, millionaires, but not hundred millionaires. Believe me, I don't spend $2500 a night on hotel rooms, haha.
  6. Unfortunately, the average house price here in Boston is now $900K, so they weren't looking for something way over the top.
  7. I really liked this series…I’m one of five sisters and totally got the familial bond. Luckily none of my sisters have married anyone like JP!
  8. So when JP was in the coffin Grace said he had an erection…maybe it was a viagra induced heart attack and no one was responsible.
  9. I have a pizza cookbook that has you alternate between the oven heat and the broiler when you put the pizza in the oven...it helps make sure that the top of the crust gets really cooked (which is important to me, I like it a little burnt like Prue described).
  10. I loved how kind Noel was to her when she was so upset…that’s the part of the show that makes it different.
  11. Was Derrick standing on the balcony? I couldn't see him there.
  12. The men in these stories who study the Torah all day are basically on welfare…the government pays them a stipend to study. Secular Israelis are distressed by it, because it raises taxes, but because the orthodox/Ultra orthodox are the current majority the law won’t change any time soon.
  13. Creepy Chef Ryan is ruining my fond memories of D. B. Sweeney (the Cutting Edge)
  14. She's a VP at GSK, I don't think money is an issue. But her face was SO distracting! I don't understand why women go to that extreme.
  15. I don’t think they were married…and he owned a house and she said she gave up her “place”, so I don’t think they even lived together. On a shallow note, he was so handsome!
  16. I thought Dan’s take on Italian American food was kind of boring, but so is Sylvia’s Mexican American food. I hope Foo wins. if they’re going to do a second season of this, they need to do a much better job of setting the challenges.
  17. Poor Nicholas…that whole opening scene of him making Molly’s world perfect contrasted with her blowing off his big break was so sad. I hope he poured that champagne down the drain. You can buy it for $350.00.
  18. You're not alone...his teeth bother me too. Also, maybe it's just me, but Molly basically hit the lottery ($86B is a LOT of money). She didn't create a family trust or anything? A scholarship fund? I know if's funnier if she waltzes in to her broken-tabled relatives, but maybe just a smidgen of guilt? Some self reflection?
  19. I would have had more trouble with the “Southern” part of the fusion than pretty much any of the cuisines. It’s just not a thing I grew up with. I guess my touch points would be fried chicken and sweet potato pie?
  20. I wonder how much of Sylvia’s hair has ended up in the food?
  21. I was happy for someone to finally say how they manage to deal with visa, citizenship, etc. Most European countries have rules for how long you can stay on a tourist visa, and it's never mentioned!
  22. Her makeup isn't good enough. I have a friend who competed...it's not just slapping foundation and false lashes on. :)
  23. Even with Tyler’s cheese sauce recipe, that mac and cheese looks revolting. They just ladle the cheese sauce on top of the macaroni. Ugh. I’m done with this show, the remaining two teams haven’t made one thing I’d eat.
  24. Another show where I wish the longhaired contestants would tie back their hair! My mother would have been horrified.
  25. Austin to Spain When the husband listed his rules for housekeeping (an efficient way to load the dishwasher?!) I thought better her than me!
