  1. If they are going to force the contestants to dance with the same all-star every week, it is not fair to the them not to have all-stars equally skilled in all styles. Far too much emphasis is on the old stars. BUt, I get that they did that for ratings...supposedly. I still prefer mixing it up so that each dancer gets an equal opportunity to do their best in all genres. I really got a rhumba vibe from Kiki and Jenna. I never felt like I was watching a contemporary. They did it well...but.... The ballroom folks need to go back and watch old tapes of the solos of Benji, Heidi, Dmitry, and Sasha. They did more than just shimmy around. Bring out the cape and do a paso or do a fast kicking jive or jitterbug. Pretend they are Fred or Ginger and bring out a foxtrot. Lex is so much better than Gabby. Cyrus is a great dancer but in this format does not belong. Have we ever so quite so much cross over from DWTS. 3 All-Stars, 1 dancer, multiple choregraphers
  2. Tonite's east coast viewing will break at 9PM for the President's speech. It will resume the show afterwards. If you are recording you'll need to add 15-30 minutes to the timer

    S16: ChaCha

    oops
  4. I'm thinking we might see Mike Greenberg of ESPN. He's in the ABC family already and his current show on ESPN is ending as they ramp up his new ESPN morning show. This would be a way to introduce him to a wider audience and transition him between his shows.
  5. Vanessa is beyond annoying. Surprise surprise...each All-Star chose the first person they selected for their team. Jenna should have picked Konkrete because Kiki is going home next week. Kaylee wasn't done any favors by the costuming or the choreography. They should have done more of a fusion that allowed both dancers to shine. As it was it highlighting both their weaknesses. Taylor surprised me with her strength and maturity. Dassie is adorable and a perfect partner for Fik-shun Koine was beautiful ..again another great partnership Paul far outshone Sophia I want to see Lex dance something other than tap..I want to see him in his actual specialty Robert did a good job keeping up with Jasmine Mark is fun to watch...his personality will keep him in it Logan was not rememberable in his generic contemporary. Could not remember fill in partner Audry. I wonder if she was already on set working as an assistant. She seems like such an off choice otherwise. Glad to finally see some real dancing. Hopefully next week we will see them dance with partners other than their all-Stars
  6. Twitch is on Ellen totally due to his stints on SYTYCD Nigel has turned this show into a one all about the All-Stars. Jasmine said it when she said she was looking for someone who had chemistry with her. is Gabby going to make Lex do tap every week? I hate the idea that really good dancers are going home because they don't matchy matchy with an All-Stars skills. That defeats the whole idea of showcasing versatility
  7. It's pretty obvious the final 10 will be the dancer each All-star chose first which makes the rest of the charade a waste of time. It would have been better to choose teams at the end of the Academy process. sounds like sour grapes. There have been far too many successful dancers with SYTYCD on their resumes to blow that off as embarrassing. One of the things I've always liked about SYTYCD is that the people who make the show are very talented. They may not shine across all genres of dance but they are generally outstanding in their own style. Once outside the show they bring invaluable experience to any dance role. They have learned to work with a wide range of top choreographers and to learn their choreography quickly. They have learned different genres often outside their comfort level making them versatile They have learned to take television direction and how to conduct themselves on camera. And they have learned to perform in incredibly stressful situations.
  8. The problem I have with Jenna picking Kiki at this point is that he had a disasterous Hip-hip round that in past years would have gotten him cut or at least made him "dance for his life' She was always going to pick him and him her so why push it right after the first round when he performed so badly? I don't like the picks only after one round. Make everyone go through every round. We've seen many first round stand-outs fail in the future rounds. If they are great they will survive the entire audtion process
  9. I have a feeling we saw the last one standing for all the All-Stars other than Robert. These people were their first choices and many of them were fought over. Besides they were among the best. If so they have the basics of a very solid group. Don't know who will be Robert's pick...the top 2 contemporary girls highlighted are already off the board I'm not sure about the Kiki pick but I wonder if he cruised because he knew Jenna was going to pick him. Kiki is good at his thing but calling him the best ballroom auditioner ever is more over the top than ever. I would easily rank Artem, Dmitry, and Pasha ahead of him
  10. I'd also like to see the host of the show Matt Iseman. He's personable and since he has rheumatoid arthritis he would fill one of the "overcoming physical obstacle" slots
  11. NCIS adding a new female character. No real idea if its simply a story arc or a long term role. Seems like another mash up of Dr Cranston and Dr Ryan. showbiz
  12. Jennifer Esposito is leaving the show after one season. No great loss...her character never did really mesh with everyone else and the writers couldn't deal with so many characters. Now we're back to the set-up that is familiar. Yahoo
  13. 2017 schedule was released today...show stays on Sunday nights but moves back to 9PM eastern time.
  14. When one Law & Order alumni flames out just switch her out with another! Of course Mark Harmon had better chemistry with Elisabeth Röhm than with his brand new agents. Tim not worthy of being part of the investigation anymore?
  15. He was a repeat character. He also appeared in Season 8's Broken Arrow. I thought this was one of the better balanced shows this season. Even though there was a focus on Quinn, I didn't feel like I was being hit over the head with her. Maybe that was due to so many scenes with Mercedes Ruehl
  16. Looks like an extended absence for Maks. He needs surgery for a torn calf muscle. http://cartermatt.com/248245/dancing-with-the-stars-24-maksim-chmerkovskiy-will-require-surgery/ http://www.accesshollywood.com/videos/dancing-with-the-stars-peta-murgatroyd-shares-exclusive-update-on-maksim-chmerkovskiys-injury/
  17. David came across as the Dad next door which should win him a lot of votes. Rashad can move and he was one of the few that was visibly enjoying himself, now we have to see if he can do ballroom as well as Latin. If she can be reigned in Charo can do better than this week but she seems to go off the rails too much. Nancy surprised me with personality as she never seemed to show one when she was skating. Bullriding dude is a little stiff but is cute so he'll last for a couple of weeks. First to go is the SNL guy
  18. that was a pretty pointed episode
  19. The English show reported that they film only about 1/3rd of the people they research. And they get permission first before researching.
  20. It must be terribly difficult to write a storyline for a character that you not only know is going to die at the end but with the actor, himself dying as well. It would have been very easy and probably trite to have some big deathbed scene. I am glad they wrote it like they did, We all know he is going to die and I presume at some point Hetty will announce his death. So good job to the writers and RIP Miguel
  21. This whole story arc fell flat because they didn't give us a reason to care about the rebound guy. First he's a victim, then we see 30 secs of him as a boyfriend then boom he's dead. We got why Gibbs killed Hernandez. We got why Vance and Ziva went afte Bodnar. We got why Tony got to blow away Kort. But this, blah, maybe if they had killed off Jake we might have cared. They put more time into that relationship than this one (though I was thinking her announcement to Gibbs was that she was pregnant..maybe then we could understand). IMO, its time to fire Bishop..how many times does she get to go rogue without consequences. This whole season has felt disjointed...story lines not fleshed out ie why was this Chen guy so evil that he was worth an arc? new characters not being truly integrated into the team. They really made a mistake trying to bring in so many new characters. There just doesn't seem to be any chemistry among any of them. I think were are seeing that it really has been Michael Weatherly/Tony DiNozzo that was the glue for the show. He was the character that allowed Tim to have a personality and Ellie to be that little sister. He brought the charisma and balance to the team that allowed their interactions to stand up to Mark Harmon's/Gibbs. I also wonder how much the loss of Gary Glassberg threw the whole team into disarray. Did I mishear...did they really name the unseen Syrian terrorist Haswari? Hmm...did Ari have yet another sibling out there
  22. Let's not consider the patients when teaching or punishing someone. Stephanie may have nicked that artery because she never used the arthroscope on a child before. And how much did the stress of changing surgeons at the last minute contribute to the patients heart attack or tearing those staples because April was yelling at her. Every time I watch this show I am grateful that it is make believe
  23. How about David Ross recently retired Chicago Cubs player. He was very popular during the World Series and I don't think DWTS has ever had a baseball player
  24. Shirley was actually born and raised in China living there until she was 17. That may be the difference between her and others who are of Chinese hertiage but born and raised in the US. Daily exposure to American life balances out the influence of the foreign heritage. I have never seen her has simpering but simply as reflected how she was raised. And for her, her heritage is the foundation of her food. Its what brought her to the show in the first place. Its not that different than most of the chefs who have been successful on Top Chef. We hear people talking about the influences on their cooking all the time. We also need to remember the power of the all might edit. They show us what they want to and encourage the story line from each chef
