  1. It is never fair to give someone grapefruit and someone else apple. One is inherently easier to bake with than the other. Besides grapefruits are more a winter fruit than summer and apples are more a late summer/early fall. Why not peach, apricot, plum, tangerine, nectarine ,or watermelon (next week)? They like to use some unusual combinations. I'd just like them to expand their idea of fruit flavors to some actual available in summer
  2. Previously, Prime had a documentary on Warren Jeffs and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter-Day Saints. It was very well done and they did not pull punches on that particular cult. There are a lot of similarities between Gothard and Jeffs.
  3. What I've noticed, through both seasons, is that in any of the team challenges Buddha just naturally takes charge. He doesn't come in with both barrels blazing as we've seen others do. He just steps up quietly. Of course, because of his pre-planning, he always has some idea of what to do for every challenge. But, isn't that what a leader is supposed to do...be well prepared for anything? What is amazing, in a group of executive chefs, is that I don't recall anyone objecting to him taking the lead. Granted they may have edited nasty or resentful comments out of the talking head segments but I haven't seen anything post-production either. This says a lot about his character. Whoever wins it, will have earned it through a tough competition. They all seem like wonderful chefs.
  4. They can taste the absence of the salt because things aren't balanced or properly enhanced.
  5. I hate it when the bakers are set up for failure like they were with the final challenge. There was not nearly enough time to produce an adequate snowman. Even another 30 minutes would have made a big difference in what they each presented to the judges yet still remain a challenge. This isn't the Christmas Cookie Challenge where the decoration will win out over the taste of the cookie. Here the judges will lean towards flavor over looks...thus Bill won. Zakiya went home more for the state of her broken pastry cream than the look of the snowman. Of course, they reserve they right to blame decoration over taste when they eliminate Dru, who has consistantly been praised for his flavors and dinged on decor.
  6. The vessal a dessert is served in actually does make a difference. If the dessert has multiple elements, such as a crust, filling, and topping , it is designed to have all elements in one fork/spoonful. If the bowl is too deep you can't reach the bottom of it easily to capture the crust. It becomes very messy and you don't get the full essence of the dessert. The judges are essentially reminding the bakers to think about all parts of serving and eating a desset. It doesn't stop with the presentation.
  7. They had Mei Lin and Gregory Gourdet team up against Iron Chef Ming Tsai. Jeremy Ford acted as their sous chef.
  8. By cooking his simple dish to perfection, Buddha succeeded where so many cheftesants have failed. Sarah should be the next to go, she just isn't at the same level as the other 4 chefs. I would love to see all 4 go to the final. Buddha and Evelyn seem to be the class of the field. I would be so disappointed if they don't make it to the finals. It would be tough to see Damarr or Nick go home but if I had to choose I would lean slightly towards Damarr
  9. I think the only one who would have said anything was Sister Julienne and that was due to moral clauses in nursing contracts (remember the brouhaha over Nan's daughter) As long as she wasn't caught coming in she was most likely safe. She is smart enough to know the on call schedule. The nuns have Complin where they are in chapel and then the Great Silence where they are in their rooms unless on call. They are used to people coming and going at all hours due to deliveries so likely pay no mind to the doors opening and closing at night. Trixie no longer has any roommates since Val left so no one to notice there. Phyllis would likely notice because she always seems to know what is going on but she also minds her own business. Phyllis, though, might have a conversation with Trixie, reminding her to stay safe from reprucussions. It was nice seeig Sister Julienne and Phyllis having a personal conversation even though it had a business aspect tp it. Those characters have so few one on one interactions.
  10. Bobby wanted children. Josh didn’t. That is a huge barrier to a long term successful relationship
  11. How long did Bailey spend locked in her genome lab after her staph infection killed multiple patients? How long was Cristina given because of her breakdown after the mass shooting? And lets not forget about Meridith disappearing for a year. or Richard taking a deep dive into the bottle, oh or Jo's stint in the mental hospital. For goodness sakes, they let Izzy come back after the Denny debacle. But then they turn around and ignore Levi. Doesn't make any sense. I can only assume that next week, they will all have an attack of conscious and save Levi from himself. I find it harder and harder to care anything about these characters or storylines. The writers are struggling to find any freshness in any aspect of the show
  12. They already have one out there to build a story around. Lexie's sister Molly. A sister who is a parent to at least one teenager and has nothing to do with medicine...might make a nice contrast to everyone else.
  13. Whoever was the official attending on the Glasses case is liable for malpractice. Regardless of the hand on the scapal they are the one's responsible for the procedure. Whose patient was he...Richard's or Bailey's? I see Owen surviving and realizing that his heart is with the Vets so he leaves Grey-Sloan (and the show) to go save them This show has become so disjointed that it is like watching 3 shows. 1) Grey's Anatomy-Seattle 2) Fake Grey's-Minnesota 3) Can't build an audience on our own Station 19. It makes story continuity and viewer involvement almost impossible. And it is showing in the ratings. I know I wouldn't not be disappointed or surprised if they end it after this season.
  14. Besides even if there were those picturesque roads, they STILL wouldn’t be using them. The minimum standard for transporting organs is an ambulance with lights and sirens not a car. But, this was a heart with a 4-6 hour transplant window, they would have used one of those fancy newfangled air ambulance helicopter things which would have gotten the heart there in about 15 minutes
  15. How he gets sentenced, the discretionary part anyway, will in some part depend on all the pre-sentencing mandatory mental health evaluations
  16. Supposedly, it is the location close to Sunset and the views that make these streets desireable. And right now there is a lot of buying and tearing down of older properties
  17. Top Chef Alumnus Caitlin Steininger and Brian Young married. He is the executive chef at Dear Restaurant & Butchery in Cincinnati. Caitlin has joined him as pastry chef after closing her restaurants during the pandemic
  18. From a food standpoint alone, anyone of the chefs would have been a worthy winner. All 3 meals looked and sounded delicious. However, I suspect that Gabe will be persona non grata in Top Chef world for some time to come. Again, purely from a food standpoint, that is a shame as his Mexican food viewpoint is unique among Top Chef winners.
  19. The "royal wave" is an easier motion on the arm than the palm outward wave. With as much waving as members of the royal families do, they would have chronic tendonitis with the outward palm wave
  20. Townhouses tend to be family homes and families were heading out to the suburbs where they could have yards. Many parents no longer had to worry about the commute into the city because they were working from home.
  21. "Depicting children under the age of 12" 😡😭
  22. Show has been renewed for season 19. They are expecting Mark Harmon to renew his contract
  23. After 18 years of waiting, Pam Dawber will finally guest star on NCIS. She will have a at least a 4 show run at the end of the season https://ew.com/tv/ncis-casts-pam-dawber-husband-mark-harmon/
  24. Emerald Fennell was nominated for an Oscar as Best Director for Promising Young Woman
  25. Linc and Amelia, in the real world of COVID would be sidelined. Except in emergencies all elective surgeries were halted. There weren’t a lot of orthopedic and neuro surgeries happening.
