  1. Because they're just props? Seriously I've noticed that too, and I have no idea. They take their crap with them on People's Court.
  2. I kept waiting for it to improve. It looked like it was made by a college film student. You'd think with all the access they had, they would have made a much better documentary.
  3. It wasn't a Martin. It was a Martin. What the ever-loving hell was she talking about? My DVR skipped the bankruptcy court case. Can anyone give me a recap?
  4. How the heck does Caroline have enough of a credit card limit for two first class plane tickets to Paris!
  5. I was thinking the same thing about the Velvet Fog, or whatever that fabric was he was sporting. He had to use two different cards to pay for a $1600 dinner. Dude, if you don't have enough room for that on one card, maybe buying a woman's affection shouldn't be the route you take to find true love.I had little sympathy for the love of his life, either. Just because you can take advantage of someone doesn't mean you should. If someone handed me a $3,000 purse as a gift three days into meeting me I'd flat out refuse it anyway. No one does that shit without expecting something in return. And if I want a purse with that price tag I can buy it myself, thank you very much. The hockey case was worthy of the rare five gavels in my humble opinion. We had video. We had the husky young defendant picking on probably the smallest kid on the ice. We had the unrepentant idiot father. We had the coach who defended the bully bruiser. We had the obligatory sexist remark about ballet in the hallterview. (Side note: anyone who thanks ballet is for sissies has never tried ballet. Baryshnikov could kick that father's ass without breaking a sweat, even at his current age.)I'm actually feel bad for the young bully. With a parent like that, he really doesn't stand a chance. I enjoyed the case of the Cincinnati drunk designated driver. I really perked up when he said he had video. I thought we were going to see the rare reversal of JJ's mind. Alas, he had a video showing the same thing his picture showed. What a maroon. Why is it that every uninsured driver just missed a payment the day before a crash? They have to be some of the unluckiest people in the world.
  6. I think we have had quite a few contestants that haven't bothered anyone on the board. The more annoying ones just get a lot more comments. It's the typical contestants who make the atypical ones stand out so much, at least for me.I got FJ right away but then also wondered if Mondale was still alive.
  7. Toaster wields a lot of power in my household. I don't even bother with single-gavel cases.
  8. At that point, I would have loved it if Robert had said, "Suck it, Trebek."
  9. When I'm watching something live, like a football game, I'll try to fast forward and get pissed off that I can't. So then I'll pause the game for a half hour or so, go do something productive, and then watch it minus commercials.
  10. I figured out the FJ answer by looking back at the category and thinking of a company that's been in the news a lot recently. I can understand how some found the wording to be strange. Hell, the contestants all looked completely baffled by it. I feel ridiculously happy when I get FJ and no one else does. I was quite proud of myself for figuring out that one. Also, I loved the plurals category.
  11. It sounds like you need a DVR. I'm rarely home when JJ is on. I usually watch late at night or in the morning while getting ready for work. If I have a particularly crazy week, I'll binge on a Saturday while cleaning my house.I'm so used to watching what I want when I want (and skipping commercials) I doubt I could go back to live TV again!
  12. That reminds me of some of the people who go to my gym. They'll drive around and around to get a parking space closer to the building. I see it every single time I go and can't quite understand why people going to work out can't walk a few more steps!
  13. I am still watching Hot Bench as well; it's growing on me. They had a new case yesterday in which a fight at a YMCA was caught on camera. For as much as I dislike feeling as if we're always on camera these days, I do enjoy the glorious video evidence the cameras produce. It makes for good court TV. ETA: My ex girlfriend was confined to a wheelchair due to a condition similar to muscular dystrophy. Although she was unable to drive, she owned a van that was converted with a wheelchair ramp so that we could take her motorized wheelchair when we traveled. I learned a whole new level of hatred for people, not only those who park illegally in handicapped spots, but for those who park so closely to handicap spots we couldn't get the ramp out. Those big spaces aren't there to give able-bodied people more room; they're there so handicapped people with ramps can get in and out of their cars. Also, I saw more people who appeared to be using other people's placards than people parking with no placards at all. Maybe they did have a handicap, it's not always clear just from watching them, but more often than not they were young, virile people who were probably using grandmom's placard. Also, if my ex wasn't getting out of the car at all, we didn't park in a handicapped spot, even when she was in the car. You learn a lot of perspective when that sort of thing hits home.
  14. I have no idea how I knew FJ, but I was fairly certain I was right. It must be one of those things that remain in my mind without my realizing I know it. I couldn't care less about the royals and paid zero attention to their wedding. I like the current champ. I find him inoffensive and love how Alex finds a way to mention his profession every episode. It's as if Alex doesn't believe a chef can be smart. Much like a woman doing well in a sports category, I like when contestants surprise Alex, even though he should have learned by now not to judge a book by its cover.
  15. I bet that classic will be on YouTube in no time at all.
  16. Tonight's episode broke my heart. It was nice to see some background about why Peggy is the way she is, but that was hard to watch.
  17. It was pretty good. I'd give it an eight on a 1-10 scale of her beat downs. He was just such a douchebag.
  18. Something that will end up with her dumb ass on another show? World's Dumbest Criminals? Cops? One of the ID Channel shows?
  19. I was watching The People's Court, which I always watch before JJ, fired up my iPad, saw Toasters five gavel recap, and immediately switched my DVR to the JJ recording! And I couldn't agree more. That was some case. Having seen Foxcatcher, I know you don't wrestle with a DuPont! I'm as horrified by people who park in handicapped spaces as the next person, but there are way too many nut jobs with guns for me to confront anyone*. I think you can call the non-emergency police line and report people who park illegally in a handicapped spot. The fines are high enough that they might actually show up. Another thing you can do is report it to the store manager. Anything is better than getting into a physically altercation (TM every other litigant on JJ) and risk being hurt. *Full disclaimer: As I was typing this, I realized that I recently confronted a woman In a parking lot after I saw her shove her shopping cart into someone's brand new car. She cussed me out and drove off, so I left a note on the damaged car with her license plate number and my contact info. So I guess I don't take my own advice!
  20. I wish I could enjoy them. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. So when she starts shrieking at Blair, I start screaming "shut up" at my TV. There's no pleasing her, and I continue to be impressed with Blair's demeanor. She's one of those people who won't step up and take over; she'd rather sit back and point out everything he does wrong.I'd have slit her throat by now.
  21. He also showed not one ounce of remorse. Some people are just so proud to be assholes. It's too bad that when he head butted the nearest guy he didn't head butt one who would put his dumb ass in the ER. I have had my run-ins with security guards too, but I'm impressed at the restraint the plaintiff showed, considering his injuries. Who the hell still crowd surfs at that age? I thought that shit was stupid in my 20s!
  22. Nice article, and thanks for sharing it. My first car, when I was in high school, was a stick shift. My father insisted we all learn to drive stick. One of the unintended benefits of it was that none of my friends could drive my car; they'd all learned on automatics. I bought only stick shifts for years because I loved having a built-in, easy excuse for not loaning my car to people. I've moved away from them now (hard to find them), but I'm at an age where all of my friends now have their own cars. If people were smarter about who has access to their cars, JJ would have a lot fewer cases to preside over!
  23. Thanks for the info about the potential surgery. I've never broke anything more serious than a toe (and, yes, that hurts like hell!) so I wasn't sure.
  24. I thought this was a terrific episode as well. I can totally relate from having to go back and forth between worlds. I can also relate to knowing a few white people who don't think I act black enough. While I'm nowhere near their level financially, it's nice to have a family on TV I can relate to. I'd like to see more of these issues from Bow's perspective and hope the show eventually shows us that. We've often seen Dre struggling with being an upper-class black male. Does Bow struggle too? Most of these types of episodes are centered around Dre, which is fine but I think seeing this from a female's point of view would be interesting.
