Toaster's back. Yay!!!Now if we could just get some new episodes, I'll be thrilled. All of my court shows are in reruns. I'm having major withdrawal. Where else can I practice the art of schadenfreude?

I prefer MM to JJ, although I watch both shows. My problem with TPC is it doesn't have nearly as many new episodes as JJ. We'll get a week of new episodes, and then it's back to reruns. But if I have a choice between a new episode of TPC and a new episode of JJ, I watch TPC first. I particularly love when MM loses her cool and goes off on an idiot litigant. Because she doesn't do it as often as JJ does, I think it's more effective when she does.

They both needed a knock upside the head. I disagree with JJ's statement that parents don't take money from their kids, although it applies in this particular case. I, and several friends of mine, are at least partially supporting elderly parents. That's just what we do as they age. They take care of us when we're young, and we return the favor as they age. But that father wasn't some elderly parent with a bunch of health issues. There was no reason for him to take money from his kid. The guy who stole the high-end appliances really looked like a fool. I was surprised he stuck around for the hallterview.

This exact same thing happened to me in a past job. One of my subordinates sent me a scathing e-mail complaining about me. She, of course, meant to send it to one of her coworkers. You should have seen the look on her face when I pointed out her mistake to her, shortly before pointing her to the exit door.

This sums up my problem with this episode. Unlike you, it stretched my imagination so far I couldn't even really the episode, despite some of the comedic aspects of it.

The game started out painfully slowly with a lot of missed answers and then the new champ got on a roll and proceeded to annoy the hell out of me. I don't like rooting against contestants, but I was rooting hard against him. Maybe it was nerves, but his editorializing and then pointing out that he jumped to a new category, hit the DD, and didn't know what the category about had me yelling at my TV. I will probably have to read the board tonight before I decide if I can watch it. If he loses or calms down, then I'll watch.

I haven't seen Toaster here in a while. I hope everything is okay, too.

It airs in Tucson at 3:30 but I don't get to see it until around 6, when I get home from work. Oddly , WOF comes on at 6:30 here. (Our prime time shows start here at 7, which, much like the NFL starting at 10 am on Sundays, is one of those things I'll never get used to! Every other place I've lived has aired Jeopardy and WOF together. It airs in Tucson at 3:30 but I don't get to see it until around 6, when I get home from work. Oddly , WOF comes on at 6:30 here. JJ did two things that annoy me during that case, and you mentioned them both. The first one was about their patio furniture. I wonder how much JJ paid for her patio furniture, but she seemed to think the insurance check shouldn't cover the plaintiffs' furniture.Secondly, she was very cavalier about the amount of work the scummy contractor left incomplete. It looked to me as if there was a lot more work that needed to be done, and JJ seemed to think the missing work was just a minor thing. Again, I bet she wouldn't accept such shoddy work on her own house(s). Incidentally, if you have a claim for damage to your home and are able to get it taken care of for less than the insurance company gives you, more power to you. JJ seems to think you have to spend every single dime you get on the repairs, otherwise you're a scammer. ETA: If my contractor came back with a second price 35% higher than his initial estimate, I'd tell him to take a hike and hire someone else. That's too much of a bait and switch to me.

I did not see it. I plan on a JJ marathon tomorrow morning while I clean my house. I'm a little behind in my viewing due to the NCAA tournament. It's the one time of year I'm a hoops fan. I'll let you know my thoughts once I've seen it.

I've heard her use "hell" and "damn" quite a few times on the show. As a viewer who grew up in the late 70s and early 80s, it still surprises me when I hear swearing on regular TV. It doesn't bother me in the least, but it's one of those things that still surprises me.

My car was struck in the parking lot of my office building by someone who couldn't be bothered to leave a note. This is in the employee parking area, so whoever it was works in my building. I turned into Columbo for a while, looking all over the parking lot for signs of the paint transfer from my car, to no avail. A lot of people are living in a bubble in which they're the only ones who matter, which brings me to the distracted driver... She got MM's ire partly because one of their staffers had a child killed by a driver who was texting. This problem has gotten completely out of control. I can't tell you how many times I miss a green light because the jackass in front of me doesn't realize the light has changed because they've got their head buried in their phone. They've made texting while driving illegal where I live, but it hasn't changed anyone's behavior. Of course, the self-absorbed assholes who do this don't give a shit about laws anyway. It's only illegal if they get caught. The case of the fence damage reinforced my feeling that I hit the neighbor jackpot. The ones on my right live in Mexico most of the time and are only here once every month or so. The ones on my left are an Air Force couple who purchased it as their very first home they owned. They have so much pride in that house and are amazingly quiet and respectful. I came out to my yard one evening and the husband asked me if his dogs were bothering me. I told him, with all honesty, that I didn't even know they had dogs. He's paranoid about them barking so he keeps them in the house most of the time, but this particular evening they were in the yard. Imagine that: a neighbor who worries about others' peaceful enjoyment!

They must have either an absentee landlord or one who just doesn't care, because I can't imagine someone being able to install a freaking basketball hoop at an apartment, especially next to where people park. I guess the plaintiff couldn't just remove the thing, but I probably would have demanded it be moved or parked somewhere else. I'm paranoid about people playing sports around my car. I was surprised the defendant didn't get the wrath of MM, considering how blatantly he was lying.

Elton John songs?

If your kid is assaulting you, verbally or otherwise, to the point where you need a restraining order against him, let him be freaking homeless. It's better than him snapping and killing you in your sleep one day. My house is my respite from the craziness of the world. There's no way on earth I'd let someone else make me feel intimated in my own home, regardless of their relationship to me. Hell to the no.

I used e-cigs to quit real cigs. I'm not an idiot at all.

I just bought a new Ford Fusion Hybrid, so I was screaming out that answer. There were some odd answers on the show. I also was puzzled by the guess of Arizona for final and Mame for the Tennessee Williams clue. I like that they acknowledged the champ's hubby. I remember liking him when his games aired. I don't know if they have kids, but if they, do their kids would be ripe for Kids Week.

S26.E04: The Great Amazing Nasty Race (Bangkok)
teebax replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Amazing Race
I absolutely detest watching people eat "gross" stuff while trying not to gag, so this episode had me using my own fast forward. Hayley is one of the most annoying racers I've ever seen on TAR. If I were unfortunate enough to be partnered with her, I would have to quit. Sorry, there's no amount of money that would make me put up with her. I think the reason she's gotten worse is because of Blair's almost immediate dismissal of her. I'm not one of those for whom blond equals attractive, but I'm sure Hayley is used to being around guys who fawn all over her. I have no idea if she's attractive or not because every time she opens her mouth I want to punch her in the face. So she actually appears ugly to me. The only thing I enjoy about watching that team is how thoroughly unimpressed Blair is with her. His passive-aggression is driving her nuts. Good. -
I hear ya. They didn't finish a baseball category, and that's my favorite subject. Very irritating!

Where I live, we have markings in our intersections to tell you exactly where to pull up to while you wait. It's not illegal; it's encouraged! To be fair, I never saw this practice of pulling into an intersection before I moved to AZ. So it's not legal everywhere, but is legal in some places. I saw this case for the first time last night and agree that he was repugnant. His hallterview was even more troubling since he admitted he owes the money. Just once, I'd like JJ to come out and confront one of these jackasses during a hallterview.

I'd be the opposite and decide to try to get the worst score ever.

I'm glad there's a thread for this show! My mom introduced it to me recently while visiting (she watches GSN all day), and I really like it. For me, I'd do better if I could see all the questions on the screen. I'm really good at Jeopardy because I can read the question and pick out key words. This is not a game show I'd do well on because of the beginning and end rounds where you have to answer without seeing the question.
-
I think he could have made that argument had he not agreed in writing to owing the full amount. His claim that he put that in writing because he didn't want to be a bad guy is dubious to me. He's essentially admitting he said he'd pay it when he had no intention of doing so, which isn't really being a good guy IMO. The texts sunk him. When they were texting him about the money, his response should have been that he thinks it should be split evenly or that he doesn't owe it all because he didn't want the reversal. Agreeing that he owed the money when he didn't think he did was stupid of him.
-
I thought he was just really nervous. I'll hand it to JJ, for all my complaining about animal cases, this case was something I've never heard on any court show. Too bad I wish I could un-hear it.The hallterview for the case was strange, with the plaintiff's daughter insisting she never started dating someone else. This whole thing was just strange to me. I can't imagine planning to have a child with someone who can't even afford a few grand for a surgery. Who did they think was going to pay all the expenses that come with child-rearing?

Yeah I realized that after I posted. That's what I get for trying to join the conversation when I didn't watch the episode!
