I was surprised she didn't say her foundation was called "The Human Fund." While I credit the lady for sniffing out the scam, she only did so after she'd written a series of checks. Maybe I'm just less trusting, but someone I meet in line at a barbecue joint would have to do more than flap their gums to get anything out of me. It sounds like Ms. Smiley has a lengthy record, and a little bit of research probably would have saved the plaintiff a lot of aggravation. Well done. I love when one of our sleuths smells out a rat!

I read the linked article and it reminded me of a conversation I recently had with a client. I emailed him a cancellation notice for nonpayment of premium and said he needed to pay right away to keep his insurance in force. He called me, almost before I hit send on the email, to tell me he didn't pay the bill because it didn't come In a pink envelope. I don't send out bills, the carriers do, so i had no idea what he was talking about. It turns out the bill he received in October was In a pink Breast Cancer Awareness envelope. So he decided that all future insurance invoices would be in pink envelopes. He told me he'd been throwing away the white envelopes because he assumed they weren't bills. I asked him why he would throw away mail from his insurance company, and he said he figured they were just trying to sell him something. That kind of thing is why I pour a stiff drink when I get home at night.Anyway... I wondered if we were back in sweeps week. I got four new cases today, and they were all amazing! You all have picked most of the meat off of the chicken bones (discarded by the loony plaintiff in one of said cases.) I even enjoyed the dog case. That dog was awesome, and I hope a JJ staffer ended up taking him. I have a question for you animal experts. The dog had a broken leg and had surgery on it. Why would there be future surgeries on the leg? I'm sure it's something stupid I'm missing, but I didn't understand that. He seemed healthy and happy. Is it a growth thing?

The short shaming goes perfectly with all the fat shaming on here. I don't understand vilifying one person for making a personal attack by making personal attacks on him. Will isn't a horrible person because of his weight; he's a horrible person because of his behavior. It wouldn't be any more acceptable if Will were thin, so I don't feel the need to fat shame him. This season is full of mean people, and it makes it unpleasant for me to watch. But then I go online and read nasty comments about those same people and wonder if we just live in a really mean society. Are we really any better than they are when comments about them come down to their weight, their hairline, their accent, marital status, etc? Then we have people who are astounded, astounded! that someone else has a different opinion about the episode than they do. Comments like, "Did you even watch the episode" are just rude and petulant. Different people are going to have different opinions on things. News at 11. Don't get me wrong, I'm not above it either. But to see people complain about Will's personal attacks by making personal attacks about him (I've seen him called stupid, fat, lazy, and worthless) seems really hypocritical to me. Shirin has been called a victim, fragile, and unstable. Are we really any better than these people we've deemed to be vile?

I wish they did that here. We have a ton of uninsured drivers and a ton of unlicensed drivers. My uninsured motorists premium is higher than my liability premium for the first time in my driving life. It's insanity.

No. Until yesterday, I'd never heard of the Car Hop! A lot of people have insurance and no licenses. This happens with my clients. Their license will get suspended or cancelled, and the insurance company doesn't find out until they re-run their MVR, which may not happen until renewal. Of course, they claim not to know their licenses were suspended. What happens here is people will get a camera ticket and ignore it. Then the DMV will suspend their license. (Full disclosure: I'm talking about commercial policies. I have no idea if personal insurance companies run MVRs more frequently than that. Unlike many JJ litigants, I've never had a license suspended, revoked, cancelled, used as someone else's ID in a traffic stop, etc.)

One of my closest friends smiles and laughs when she gets nervous. The defendant in the (yet another) dog case seemed demented, like it was beyond a nervous tic. I recently bought a new car, and I think I was only asked for my license when I was test driving, which was weeks before I bought it, and at a different dealership than the one I ended up buying from. I bought it from a dealership out of town and had it delivered to me here, and I don't think they checked my license at all. I did give them my proof of insurance for the lien-holder, but I don't remember them asking anything about my license. Maybe they assumed I was licensed since I had insurance in my name. Anyway, there were no winners in the car case. I was hoping JJ wouldn't award anyone anything since both sides had unclean hands. The plaintiff was guilty of giving an unlicensed driver the means to get on the road and ruin someone's life. I couldn't muster up an ounce of sympathy for either side.

A lot of giant slayers lose the next game. I wonder why that is.

Alex grew on me, so I'm not celebrating his defeat. However, I'm surprised he missed Instagram. I didn't like watching the blowouts, but the games he had that were close were fun to watch. He's going to be hard to beat in the TOC. Roosevelt definitely needed a BMS. Seriously, Alex (both host and contestant!) That buzzer in the air by the middle contestant was driving me nuts. I'm sure she felt a lot of pressure, going up against a giant. Whoever compared it to a shake weight is dead on. I need to brush up on my African georgeaphy. I say that every time such a category comes up. It's definitely a weak category for me.

Answer: KW, TW, and CW Question: What are the three tournaments I skip each season?

I can't stop laughing because I'm picturing one of JJ's litigants storming out through the wrong door and ending up in Joe Brown's courtroom. I'd pay money to see that, actually.

Alex impressed me today. He didn't hit a single DD and still managed to almost make it a runaway. I remember when The Hunger Games came out the snark on it was that Battle Royale did it better much earlier. I don't know if that's true or not, but I remember reading it. My girlfriend and I saw the first Hunger Games for our first date, so it's special to us for that reason. How quickly they forgot Silver Linings Playbook.

I like this board and spend a lot of time here, but if I'm ever fortunate enough to make the show I won't give a damn what any of you think of me! Hell, I'm sure I'd do some of the very things I complain about... I still won't care. But discussing the contestants theselves, their mannerisms, their demeanors, their clothing, etc., is fair game. I tend to stay away from discussing their looks. However, this is still a message board. Anyone too sensitive probably shouldn't ego surf to find out what's being said about them anyway. For me, Jeopardy is a show one should dress up for. So I notice when someone looks like they just rolled out of bed. It's a serious, fast-paced show. So I notice when someone editorializes or plays slowly. It's a show in which the best way to understand a category is to start from the top. So I notice when someone starts every category from the fourth box. I watch because I enjoy playing along, which is hard to do when there's a contestant who drives me nuts. Should they care what I think? Absolutely not. But I'm still allowed to think and discuss how I feel. If we know a boardie is on the show, we are kind to them. They may still drive us nuts, but we won't say it. I'd rather worry about making the show than worry about what anyone here may say about me when/if I do. As I said, I couldn't care less. I'm sure Alex the contestant doesn't care either. Like Arthur, Colby, and others that haven't been exactly popular, the money they make is still green. I'd take winning 100 grand and bragging rights while being disliked over winning nothing while sitting on my couch any day of the week.

Thank you for this. I'm still recording JJ each day, but as soon as I read the description of the episode and realize it's a repeat, I delete it. Agreed. She had some strong cases during the season, but they seem to only be re-airing the dog cases, which I really dislike. Like you, I generally don't get through dog cases when they're new, so I'm surely not going to watch them in re-runs. TPC and Hot Bench are airing new episodes this week, so I was hoping JJ would. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday. Hopefully, Toaster will be back with the gavels!

Thank you for this! I thought that might be him, but he looked a little different to me. I absolutely believe he called the plaintiff stupid (not nice, even if it's correct). He was such a tool on PR.

I find Alex much more tolerable and really enjoyed today's game. He's still not my favorite, but nowhere near as annoying to me as I found him during his first game. Today was exciting because it was close. I love that. His mention of his fiancé was sweet. I'm seeing a sense of humor, which I like. As long as he doesn't slow play, I'm cool with him being the champ. I'm looking forward to seeing him compete in the TOC against the last champ, whose demeanor was so opposite of his. I may not like the board jumping, but I can't fault him since he continues to win. I've read some not-so-flattering stories about Toby Maguire's poker antics. I'm glad Host Alex didn't delve into that with contestant Alex.

Any word on new episodes? My guide doesn't want to tell me anything about next week, although it's supposed to. These reruns are boring me!

It wasn't just the daily double he slow played Friday. You'll have to watch again because I refuse to do so. He slowed down in picking the next clues as well. I thought it was obvious but, as usual, your mileage may vary. As I said, we'll find out if he has another game that's not as much of a blowout as Monday's was.
-
I watched after reading the board to see if Alex either lost or was more tolerable, and he was infinitely better Monday than he was on Friday. My main issue with him was actually the slow-playing, and he didn't need to do that during Monday's episode. We'll see how he behaves if a competitor is closer to him and it's not a blowout. The fact that he can be quick and decisive when selecting the next clue just cements my opinion that he purposely slow played on Friday. He didn't start going slowly on Friday until he had a runaway. Also, they may have said something to him about it after the game. Who knows?

That moron's statement that most people of color have plead guilty or warrants or whatever the hell he said really got my goat. Those types of people make it hard for us minorities when something racist actually does happen. What a jackass. I, for one, wish MM had pressed him more about his so-called military service. He strikes me as the type of guy who would lie about his military service, and as a veteran of a foreign war, that really makes my blood boil. If he put half as much energy into legitimate work as he puts into running scams, he wouldn't have to run scams. What a piece of crap he is. For the record, not liking rap music doesn't make someone a racist. This black woman prefers classic rock. Does that make me a racist, too?
-
I sensed he was purposely slow playing once he had a runaway. I'm out until he's gone. I can't watch him again.
-
That's what I said and assumed I'd have been wrong since it's not the actual title. In other news, Alex has signed one for two more years. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/wheel-fortune-jeopardy-renewed-two-787546

I like Kerry, but she's really benefited from her competition's mistakes. It turns out Kaya needed to get that daily double correct since she missed the final. This English major missed the final, I'm ashamed to say. I'm one of those rare literature fans who doesn't really dig Shakespeare. While I applaud Kaya's gutsy bet, I think in a category in which you're not comfortable it was a bad idea. But knowing Kerry's propensity to get FJ correct, I can understand why Kaya bet the way she did. One more note, I have speakers on my patio and was outside for the first round. I totally thought Kaya was a guy based solely on her voice. I'm not criticizing her voice, just saying she sounded like a guy to me. Anyway, that was a fun game as a viewer. I know it's a good game when I feel like I immediately have to check this board after watching!

Was she the one who kept trying to talk over JJ? I turned off an episode because I can't stand when people do that, and that may have been the one.
-
That was my pre-call as well when I saw the category.I got the Coles before Alex finished reading and thought the Presleys was a particularly bad answer.
-
I've seen MM admit that she had pre-judged a case but changed her mind after hearing the testimony. I'm sure JJ has done that as well, but damned if I can think of an instance! I think litigants get a fairer shake with MM.
