  1. Maybe it didn't occur to Walter to hobble Mark? I'm not sure about this because it seems to "deep" for this show but I wonder if it was on purpose to show that Mark was right; emotional Walter and genius Walter can't co-exist and in his worry about Toby the obvious solution of disable Mark until Toby is safe is something he never even thought of because he was distracted. This would be a bad choice by the writers but...........is it possible that Mark knew Happy was married because she's married to him? (That's just a thought please don't do that to us show!)
  2. I think Norman can be both deeply disturbed/mentally ill AND a game playing manipulator - if it's his mental illness that's causing him to manipulate because in his view of the world he's doing what he needs to do or "telling the truth". The best scene in that episode (IMHO) was the end, Norma and Norman walking up the path to the house shot from way above. No words, no heavy anvils hitting us on the head saying here's what we're trying to tell you but still it gave this overwhelming feeling that what you were seeing was he left the house Norman the young adult and he's returning as NORMAN BATES......................and I mean that in the big, capitol, glowing neon letters, the feeling that the guy Norma brought home is now, at least internally, fully and completely the guy we know from Psycho.
  3. That makes two episodes in a row where it looks like Delia had no lines at all when she really did have scenes. Is PBS trying to pretend that relationship doesn't exist? Doubtful since the after episode behind the scenes was all about lesbianism in the 60's but why do they keep cutting her out. I always order the DVD's after all the episodes have aired in the US but I think this time I'll get them early, the editing didn't seem so bad before but not it feels excessive. As for the show though - they bring it every single time. Sister Julienne's story, Trixie and her drink the the party (which she wisely hadn't sipped yet but she hadn't gotten rid of it either, maybe she doesn't know yet how to gracefully decline but a simple I'm on duty would have done it), Shelagh and Patrick desperately sorting through medical histories to look for a link - it was all great acting and very good story telling. And I love that Phyllis is softening, becoming one of the girls and offering advice and a shoulder at times
  4. The ship guide wasn't part of the kidnapping, just a kickback scheme for steering people to certain shops/stalls. I guess the ship could fire him for that but since it wasn't part of the kidnapping they didn't say what happened to him once he confessed. I wonder if local authorities can force a ship to stay in port while they're investigating? If so it would have been nice to have a mention of it or a quick scene with the captain asking how much longer the ship will be detained or something. Yup, he did, he went for the Star Wars quote. I like the show but they need to find variety in the crimes and that might be hard when it's about going to other countries since there has to be a really good reason to involve the team.............of the eleven episodes (some not aired but descriptions are available) six of them involve people missing/kidnapped and that's going to get boring if they keep using that general plot even if the reasons the people are missing vary.
  5. Agree! I only realized what we missed when I read the re-cap. I wondered why they only had Delia in once scene. Now I wonder if something happened in the missing scene that changes the meaning of Phyllis' later comment, about Patsy being very good at keeping secrets. Maybe not and it was just an off hand comment but Patsy did get a look on her face when Phyllis said it. They could have cut the jam conversation between Fred and Tom but I think it was important for two reasons, I think the jam was the red herring (no pun!) of the typhus source, they wanted us to think that was where it came from and worry about Sister Monica Joan coming down with it AND Tom mentioned the date to Fred which upped the awkward factor of who knows, who doesn't know and who's accidentally going to tell Trixie I think from various comments this is the minority opinion but I like Tom and Barbara together and I have no problem with them becoming a couple. It was Trixie who couldn't handle being a vicars wife when she found out it wasn't going to be the two of them in a cute little parsonage in the country and that a lot of life decisions would be out of their (her) hands. I like her, she's trying very hard to change but she let Tom go, she can't dictate who or if he loves next. It's unfortunate that she and Barbara work and live so closely, and because they're that close it would be unrealistic to play it as though her feelings weren't hurt at all. But it's not fair for her to have an extreme jealous reaction either.
  6. I'm not that annoyed with the tool hiding; I think it's dumb and see no reason how it helps either of them in the game but it's a mostly minor thing. What is annoying douche behavior is Scott putting out that fire; and very juvenile. It was all based on his growing anger that the tool hiding didn't work, that the girls didn't immediately dissolve into trembling helpless heaps who couldn't handle camp life and food without his help, begging his forgiveness for their vote and promising to kiss his feet straight to the million for the rest of the game. Basically he was pissed that they weren't pissed. I want to say this the right way - I'm starting to wonder if Tai isn't a little............slow?............like that special needs kid in school that the jocks befriend just to talk him into sneaking into the girls bathroom then laugh when he gets caught. Not that he's handicapped just that he doesn't seem to get what's going on a lot of the time and he seems too happy that the big strong guys want to be his buddy. I don't know, last week it was maybe he's a genius for outing the super idol, this week he seems more like the clueless guy who just goes where he's pointed.
  7. Best comment ever, read it three times in a row and laughed every time.Do Jessa and Ben have any plans for a post-TV world I wonder or do they think their "fans" will carry them for ever? Not that the Duggars have ever heard of him or any other rap/hip hop artists but THIS is how you do Christian rap right : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EItEuVpJTg
  8. Nick - I want to make sure you didn't try to form a girls alliance Cydney (two feet away) - Well we didn't BEFORE but...... Paranoia+Lack of self awareness+inability to shut up = Bye Nick Jason needs to go, sorry for his daughter but it doesn't excuse the dick behavior that's more often displayed. Tai or Cydney for the win although a a few of the other under the radar folks would be OK as long as Joe or Scott don't win either and preferable aren't even in the final. Debbie just can't stop lecturing on things she knows nothing about; although I think she honestly believes she knows it all - no your ice cream reward is not giving you awesome glucose energy to store for tomorrows challenge, that much sugar with no carbs (especially complex carbs) to balance it gives you nothing but a spike and crash. When this season is over, or after she's voted out I really want to see a video of all the occupations the editors tagged on each of her talking heads, catching those as they pop up has become one of the more entertaining parts of each episode.
  9. For those wondering about Chummy; she'll be back (a little) for the Christmas special later this year and has officially signed on for S6. They posted on this Call the Midwife facebook page this morning: We’ve been bursting to share the news that Chummy has now left the Mother and Baby Home and is heading back to Poplar for season 6! We’re thrilled to be once again featuring Miranda Hart and her fabulous blend of warmth, strength and vulnerability, as Chummy gets to grips with the medical and social challenges of the 1960’s. Restored to Nonnatus House, Chummy will relish being back in bustling world of the East End. Miranda appears only briefly in our forthcoming Christmas Special, but returns to centre stage in Season 6 Episode One, when Chummy is called upon to support a local mum in a challenging situation. She will appear frequently throughout the new series. Call the Midwife Christmas Special will air in the 2016 holiday season across the world, followed by season 6 early in 2017 smile emoticon
  10. Miranda said she wouldn't be in this season because she had other commitments. I really hope she comes back to the show eventually. It's funny that I don't miss Jenny (or Jessica) very much and when she first left I thought it would ruin the show. I miss Chummy more. It looks though like Peter is in the credits for some 5th season episodes so IF that's right I guess he'll be back from time to time. I thought it was unusually shortsighted of Sister Julienne to call Trixie's AA meetings a "club", she's always seemed a little more progressive and insightful than most. Considering AA had been around for nearly 20 years by then (the "big book" was first published in 1939) and considering the area where they worked she should know something about alcoholism and treatment. It came across as though she was implying that this something optional for Trixie. But other than that odd note the episode was as great as this show as always been. I was amazed at the realism of the baby they used but they seem to put a lot into making them that realistic; link if anyone is interested. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-02-07/how-call-the-midwife-filmed-thalidomide-birth-scenes
  11. Oh my God; Alexandria is the Truman Show; everyone in their morning places until Rick wakes up to start the days show. Maybe at the very end we'll pull back to find it's a fake earth set with Kang and Kodo from The Simpsons watching on their space TV until they look at each other and say wanna see what else is on. As an episode I feel like this is Prison and Governor part 2: Shelter in danger-check, Carol sent/went away-check, part of your crew captured by bad guys-check. I know we're paralleling the comics in some ways but not others and it's all a set up for the big finale but it's not the first time that CDB has gone from ninja to moron to accomplish the set up. Or maybe I just hate the Neegan story anyway and want to get it over with.
  12. Regarding Joe: Agree - he showed an unexpected nasty streak and (if editing is to be believed) all Liz did was make a suggestion about using the embers and he lit into her. But worse, after that at the challenge he did little to nothing - in multiple shots he was walking next to the log, sometimes close to everyone but not actually touching it and sometimes further away..but he wasn't really helping. Then when they were untying the knots he pretty much just stood and watched and when they were almost done wandered away. I understand not getting in the way; only so many people can undo a single knot at a time; but the whole thing came off as him faking it and acting like a supervisor. He's very close to going full on tribal boss mode - I'm the supervisor because I know best, you all just follow what I say.
  13. Still figuring out who's who but.............when they huddled before the challenge they told Alicia she's doing the puzzle and didn't we hear her say it's not a good idea because she's no good at puzzles; then female bodybuilder gave her some line about never say don't. If it went down that way it's stupid to blame her for how she performed. Two days in if someone says that's their weak spot and it won't help the team win they need to listen. Although it's a giveaway for later challenges since Survivor tends to be puzzle heavy and she'll be easy to beat and useless to the team. I don't know that Darnell's bathroom choice was enough reason to vote him out but that's only because I wanted Debbie out more and would rather pretend they had that choice. Tai should have claimed sudden stomach problems - I never understood why when they hear their tribe coming they don't just drop pants, squat and yell don't come in here you don't want to smell this. Then just wait and come out moaning about how it hit so sudden and the new diet is messing with your stomach - play it cool and few will question. Or as Jeff Foxworthy says if you're going to fake a sick day and don't want the boss to ask a lot of questions explosive diarrhea is always a good choice. Bugs in the ear; it seemed small but considering how you can't even fit a q-tip far in your ear it probably doesn't take much. But how about an entire ant colony in your head (click if you dare you've been warned) http://med.news.am/eng/news/9399/12-year-old-girl-has-an-ant-colony-living-in-her-head.html
  14. I'm going to go back and watch Daryl blow up the bikers about 10 more times just for fun. Not looking forward to Negan so any delay is fine with me; didn't like his storyline in the comics and probably won't like it here. The only reason I want to see him at all is to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan but otherwise I hope they don't drag it out over a season or a more. Knew what was supposed to happen to Jessie and family and wanted it to happen but wasn't sure if they'd change it for the show. Glad they kept their deaths in. Carl's eye though? Did not think they'd do it. For the show I really didn't think they'd let him get a permanent injury like that. But I guess since they left Rick's hand intact they had to do something to keep close to the books. My Mother is nearly 80 and won't miss a second of this show; no phone calls and no talking in the room while it's on. But when they showed the day after the zombie invasion and all the bodies I suddenly hear her yell from behind me "Cleanup aisle 5".
  15. Can you write for the show? That secret coffee idea would have been perfect and fits with the plot, they should have used it. The only thing I can forgive is the exposed heads and shoulders in the sleeping bag - and only because it's a documented fact that hypothermic people will feel false warmth (mostly in arms and legs) and start undressing. So you could assume that's how far gone Toby was and why he didn't think to cover their heads - of course that's also one of the end stages and should mean they'd either die or take a lot longer to warm up and recover. Other than that found this episode a little boring - a little to much walking back and forth to the hut (was it three round trips total) and wandering around in the snow. Did like Toby and Happy and really liked how they used Ralph, he was smart and helpful without being annoying
  16. OK too tired to bring any serious snark but I just finished watching the latest episode............. Anna's pauses while she got emotions under control were the most honest thing in any of the interviews; also the saddest. There's no way those interviews aren't rehearsed in some way, either they know the questions in advance or they just prepare certain key sentences to use as stock answers. Because when they're just talking, even Anna talking to the baby, they talk like anyone having a normal conversation. But in the interviews they........start and........stop..........multiple...........times during..........a...........single...........sentence. It's a very hesitant cadence (honestly it sounds like William Shatner having a stroke). I can't believe it's because they're not comfortable in front of the camera, not after all this time. Although for some of them I can totally believe it's because they seriously have to think before they can give a semi-intelligent response. Jessa is just a phony - anyone notice in that tearful goodbye to Jill she never really looked at her, in fact while they were hugging she kept glancing up and I swear it more looked like she was checking where the camera was.
  17. My go to description is A-Team meets McGyver.
  18. If she was in the opening credits I completely missed it. I saw her name pop up as one of the first ones in the ending credits so I figured they kept her out of the opening to keep the surprise.
  19. Good choice of words because my first thought was she looked like Julia Roberts at the beginning of Pretty Woman. I think there's going to be a lot of love it and hate it posts both. Not sure if having Juliette back is a good thing for the show or not. But they do get an extra point for keeping her name out of the opening credits - more than one show has ruined a "shocking" surprise that way.
  20. OK Noah where's the fantastic insulation invention for that 3 miles worth of hose you put between the home and the crik' . Or are we saving the snafu for a special winter episode where all the pipes and hosing freezes and bursts and they're suddenly trapped in the cabin with no water (Suspense! Will they have to melt snow and ice to survive!). The hauling business was confusing. They're not even trying to be consistent anymore, they're either days from other humans and help and modern comforts (Bird: Pizza) or they're a short half hour boat ride from the next settlement. It's oh so far away or it's close enough for the last set or womenfolk/potential grandbaby makers to kayak to. I did not hear about Matt's drunk driving issue - links anyone?
  21. I really wanted to count that as the best line of the night; Student: "It's called micro-aggression", Walter: "Well if it's micro it can't be that bad" (not the exact quote but...). Then Cade came along with undercover DEA let's see those backpacks bit. There was a lot of funny and sad in this one. Toby's old nemesis was not at all wrong in anything he said at the end and Toby knows it, but it was still sad to see him walk away because he knew there was no comeback or argument he could make in return. I think they didn't get campus security to help because they didn't know who was involved. If they had asked security for help the plot would probably have been that Ryder was posing as a guard or a couple of the guards were on his payroll. Considering nearly every episode, no matter what time or day or night, ends with "I have to pick up Ralph" Paige must have a very understanding babysitter who I hope is being paid by homeland for all the overtime.
  22. Re watched tribal (because SOME of the Sigma family just can't stay awake!).....but you're right it looked like Abi at first and it was Kelly. So Abi goes down 5 points on the paranoid scale but still stays in the red warning area considering she had to be told and reassured in the first place.
  23. Fischbach: I just need something, a sign, ten minutes with no rain. Cut to huge bolt of lightening and pouring rain. Please Survivor editors, never change. Abi's "told you" after the vote...so stupid. Because she was convinced they were after her and the votes proved it in her mind. Except she can't see she was on nobody's radar until she took attitude and pissed everyone off when they did try to talk voting. Her mouth is her own worst enemy
  24. I don't think it's a problem that Megan and Sly married after Walter had her declared incompetent. Even Walter knows it isn't true and that, like Sylvester said, he used money and a late night lawyer to get that power. So even though Walter could challenge the marriage he won't now because he's slowly coming around to balancing what makes Megan happy and comfortable with his own need to "save" her. It's more likely that Walter will just let cancel his guardianship drop or if it was for a limited time not renew it and as long as he doesn't challenge them I doubt anyone else would. Ray should have been the Cousin Oliver of the show but darn if the guy isn't just likeable enough. It's how he just rolls with things - oh, got a guy in a trunk, I'll just wait out here. Oh, need me to translate Polish and by the way are you at the UN - OK, no problem. He never even asks why (he never seems to care why). Anyone notice when they came back to the garage at the end he was solving a rubicks cube by peeling the stickers off and moving them? The only thing that is a little annoying is how fast and loose they are with time, in this like the Kazakhstan episode, they seem to be able to bend the rules of air travel and time zones everything can be solved in a day and no matter where they are they're home in time for dinner
  25. It really does seem like they're going to let her die - I didn't think the show would do it. Megan needs to have a serious wake up talk with Walter about HER wishes and I hope she has all the paperwork she needs including advance directives and a DNR request. I wouldn't be surprised if Walter tries to become her guardian so he could make the decisions he wants but I'm hoping they don't do that or the story line is that he's denied or the team talks him out of it. Definitely don't want to see him over-ride her and force her to try every treatment no matter what. As usual Toby gets the best lines for funny - liked the whole "I have an envelope that predicted this".
