  1. I'm still thinking about Seth getting choked up about Hillary's loss. I'll never not love him for that. I don't understand doggie pee pads, though. Don't people in NY walk their dogs? Any why close their bedroom door if Seth or Alexi then has to get up and let Frisbee out at 2 am?
  2. The photo was creepy! Not the child but the ridiculous hat and whoever told him to make a jaunty face.
  3. Since it's humor with a point/message, I'm finding I'm okay with it. Same with political comics like Lewis Black. On the other hand, I'm kind of holding it against talk show hosts and comics who don't take a stand. I deleted my season passes for Kimmel, Fallon and Corden. They can suck up to advertisers and play both sides of the fence without me.
  4. If they hadn't brought it on themselves, I'd almost feel sorry for the media getting blasted from both sides. Conservatives have always derided and blamed them but now they've pissed off everyone else, too. Article about Twitter's recent "crackdown" on hate speech: "According to Brandwatch and anti-bullying group Ditch the Label, racist language is the most common form of hate speech on Twitter. Of the 19 million tweets analyzed by specific search terms, more than 7.7 million tweets contained racially insensitive language. In one of the highest-profile incidents, Twitter banned Milo Yiannopoulos, a technology editor at the conservative news site Breitbart, in July for engaging in a campaign of abuse in which hundreds of anonymous Twitter accounts bombarded Ghostbuster actress Leslie Jones with racist and sexist taunts." A report in October from The Anti-Defamation League documented the rise in anti-Semitic tweets targeting journalists who covered Trump, the Republican presidential candidate. Words that appear frequently in the profiles of these Twitter accounts: Trump, nationalist, conservative, white."
  5. #quitfacebook It doesn't have a lot of traffic but it is a thing.
  6. For Trump supporters who are angry at being called racists, I wonder if terms like "racial anxiety" or "unconscious bias" would make them feel better? I know they're very much against the spread of "PC" language, but I'm willing to adapt to ease their minds. This 30-year old test measures implicit associations and bias. Related exercises are available. For any teachers, the Southern Poverty Law Center is looking for responses to their Post-Election School Climate Survey.
  7. It was "one of those"? Are there a lot? I've never heard of such a thing! My sister told me we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving on Sunday this year because she thinks it's "too crowded" and "everyone will be shopping" later in the week. I don't care. She always does everything and I just walk across the street. She then mentioned that she'd invited three people I don't know. I must have made a face because we then had this conversation: Sister: You don't have to come! Me: Okay, I won't. (Not pissy or mad, just stating it.) Sister: WHAT!? How can you not come? Me: You just said I didn't have to!! Honestly, she should know me better by now. Not about to spend a couple of hours making small talk and paying UNO with strangers. Also, my sister keeps her house too damned hot.
  8. I agree. I must have tried 5-6 times to watch both of those and it never stuck. Can we add Community to the list?
  9. I loved Billy's deep exasperation with the bisexual guy. With people like the woman with the accent exclaiming how rude Billy was -- I always wonder if the production assistants running behind to get waivers signed explain to people that it's a comedy show. "But he really is that rude."
  10. I didn't watch last season so wasn't sure if that was an ongoing storyline. I don't care about her personal life but I guess it's good to know she displays the same phlegmatic, low affect responses there. Wouldn't want to speak in anything other than a mumbling monotone.
  11. I'd also suggest that another component of normalization has been lowering the bar. There were so many things Trump said or did that would have disqualified any other person. But nothing stuck to him, so the story became one of praise for the most basic conduct. Like, standing upright. Good job, Donald!
  12. Doesn't seem like many people are watching, but People of Earth might be worth checking out on TBS. I really like it so far. It's a comedy about an alien abductee support group (they really were abducted). One of the leads is Wyatt Cenac, a journalist who is newly arrived in town. Da'Vine Joy Randolph plays another support group member and Oscar Nunez has a small recurring role.
  13. The dream sequence of Kenny on Chopped was everything! I liked that VP Murray's mother wasn't the standard dumpy virago. Nice to see him and Eileen both stand up to her for the good of their relationship.
  14. I'm really enjoying how the show manages to be snarky but still grounded in reality. Like, Gina has her abduction quirks but she really is a therapist and manages the support group in a believable way. Ana is doing a great job with that. I still miss Kurt!
  15. I didn't even know there was a movie, which sounds like it may be a plus. I thought it was interesting; at least it's a departure from the tidal wave of procedurals. In general, I'm iffy on Ryan Phillippe and his mannered acting choices, but I liked him here well enough.
  16. That's been my favorite part of the entire season! Kevin hears Nunez's advice as "blah de bloop, yadda, clickety clack."
  17. The hypocrisy, it sears. Let's not forget that the entire "lock her up" outcry about HRC's private server was because of possible mishandling of classified information. But as always, when Trump does the same thing, it's perfectly fine! Pshaw. My hatred for Trump keeps me focused, so wallow I will. What saddens me is his supporters who have been emboldened to commit hate crimes.
  18. Anyone who wants to serve under Trump is automatically not qualified.
  19. Ah, last year. Dreamier times when we all thought Trevor's segment on African dictators was high-larious. Holy shit balls.
  20. My assumption has been that all the incoming teams continue on in the bodies they took over, just like the team we're following and the ones they interact with. They're supposed to complete various missions while living out the lives of the dead. Whether they ever get to return to their future time once the past is "fixed," I got no clue.
  21. Oh, Nikki. Rubbing two brain cells together isn't her strong suit. She's messed up every one of her skull picks in some way. I'm usually kind of oblivious to clothing but her black ripped looking top is so ugly and she wears it so much. THIS CLOSE to getting rid of her tonight! Her portrait was by far the worst to me. Over all seasons, so many tattoos of children have made them look years older and this was no different. I preferred Gian's portrait over Nate's because it was softer but both were very nice and looked exactly like the subject. Quit your bitching, Ryan.
  22. From Scientific American: Trump's Plans to Shake Up the Tech World "After he appoints a new Federal Communications Commission [FCC] chairman, the first thing on the docket will be to repeal FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler’s Open Internet Order, also known as Net neutrality. The second will be to repeal Wheeler’s Internet Service Provider privacy rules, which limit how ISPs can use and sell customer data."
  23. If people are feeling petition-y, the Southern Poverty Law Center has one asking that Trump fulfill his promise to be a president for all Americans and reject hate and bigotry.
  24. I wish I could believe that. Instead, I'm pretty sure his supporters will continue to blame Obama, Hillary and Bill together and apart, obstructionist Democratic politicians, the liberal media, Jews in Hollywood, the Department of Education, minorities, Mexico, professional protestors, immigrants, atheists, NAFTA, Muslims, the NY Times and Washington Post, ISIS, the East Coast elite, etc.
