  1. The thought that everyone's been treading water for 9 years is a little disturbing. I haven't rewatched the show since it ended and probably could have hand-waved the cast aging since their previous faces aren't super clear in my mind. I'd at least like to have seen Lorelei and Luke married. I'm supposed to accept that they've never discussed having children? Come on. Being unable to say one nice thing about her father was typically shitty Lorelei behavior. Hammering at her mother about the huge painting was another "all about Lorelei" moment. She just had to be right.
  2. Exactly! I sleep when I feel like it these days which sometimes means I'm awake all night. The chicken salad sandwich was actually my dinner that day. I've also never understood laws that restrict the hours alcohol can be sold. I've been stuck behind people in grocery stores lines trying to buy beer on Sunday but it was a few minutes before [whatever arbitrary hour] it was allowed. Blue laws are the same -- you can buy gas or groceries or go to a movie and restaurant, but dog forbid you want to buy a pair of shoes or a book on a Sunday. Silliness. I think that's universal? They wipe down a few surfaces, run the vacuum around chairs and tables -- don't even think about moving them! -- and swish out the toilet. Done, bye. The people who work for themselves and are actually thorough are usually too busy to book. The woman I was so grateful to have found is in her 60s and yes, I pay her more than I make per hour.
  3. That's an early delivery, @Blergh! I think a lot of dailies are put to bed by 6pm these days, so getting them printed and delivered by 11pm is in the realm of possibility. I guess today I should remark about how many things I'm grateful for in my 65 years. A standard amount of heartbreak and emotional ups and downs, but on the whole, a life of contentment. Always well housed, fed, loved, and healthy. Education and work that I enjoyed. Never totally broke or homeless. No pogroms for me.
  4. The new Hallmark movie tonight is Christmas in Homestead -- actress goes to small town life, true meaning of Christmas, yadda yadda. Just once could we have a movie about someone (okay, it always a woman) from a small town who finds joy (and yes, love) in a multicultural Christmas in an urban city? Could that maybe be what the holidays are all about? JUST ONCE?
  5. I wish we lived close so we could trade our hated tasks. A barter economy for chores!
  6. I think This Is Us is a sappy and shrewdly manipulative show. Judging by it's positive buzz and ratings, I assume that's unpopular. Agree with you about Miguel, though!

    S01.E02: Exfil

The prison scenes were stressful to watch so I was okay with Swagger's unrealistic breakout. What I did roll my eyes at was the FBI easily finding paper credit card statements, browsing several years' worth in a few minutes to identify one annual charge, then somehow immediately connecting that to a former platoonmate's mother. Bob Lee's wife is kickass.
  8. I'm really enjoying the show overall but am glad this episode provided a bit of a breather. The last one was nerve-wracking because I was worried about Letty and Javier getting caught with the bodies, Letty's parole being revoked, all the shit with the car, etc. This was sad and emotionally wrenching but I wasn't all tensed up on my couch. I agree that Letty's desire to parent her son comes off a bit like a childhood fantasy of living in a magic ice cream playhouse. The genie just makes it all appear with no work or upkeep required.
  9. I'm not exactly doubting his rep, but it's a little hard believe based on what he's done on the show. Why not try to put out your best work in front of a few hundred thousand viewers? Anyway, here's a gypsy from Nate's portfolio for comparison. I think both Nikki's and Kelly's would have bested it. The hands make no anatomical sense at a weird angle practically coming out of her neck.
  10. Seth Vogue-in was cute, too. Interpretive vogue dancing for movie scenes needs to be a thing.
  11. Not that she has any obligation to do so, but it was obvious Gayle has never watched Late Night since she was taken aback by Seth's Closer Look piece. That stuck in my craw a bit only because she's supposedly such a "friend of the show." Seth tried but it didn't seem like he got through to Gayle at all. She was spouting Oprah's bullshit privilege about needing to work with Trump and give him a chance. Everyone is already giving him a damned chance! We have no choice in that. Seth was questioning why the media has to somehow "work together" with the new administration when their only job is to report the news. Why would any journalists accept that they somehow have to make nice or kowtow in order to do their jobs? Gayle being convinced that Trump's "dishonest media" crap had nothing to do with CBS? Sigh. Just because he hasn't singled her show out by name means nothing.
  12. Ink Master's hatefully slow site doesn't have the gypsy tattoos in their gallery; I wanted to look at them more closely because I was torn. I didn't understand the critique about Nikki's headscarf, either. I liked hers better in the sense that I wouldn't mind having it on me, but both were really well done.
  13. This week's previous segment that didn't make the cut -- that was for a reason. But one streeter offering up Tom Cruise as a straight while male and Billy screaming that he couldn't accept that, made up for everything. It was fun to see Seth Rogen, he of the say anything, gross-out humor, being ever so slightly off balance by Billy's brand of highjinks. I agree Seth is a cub since, as Billy put it, he "slimmed down." The segment that should have been shortened/cut is what Michelle Rodriquez brings to the table.
  14. I would not have recognized Garver at all. Miami Ink was longer ago than I thought. What I mostly remember, aside from his beautiful tattoos and gentle personality, is how much his back used to hurt. I'm a little surprised he's still tattooing. What were Nikki and Kelly thinking? Not only was that an unpleasant looking tattoo, it didn't even begin to meet the criteria. Not sure why the canvas approved it in the first place. On the plus side, Nunez made an ass of himself trying to defend it. I finally agreed with Nikki about something -- she should have outlasted Nate.
  15. Yeah, I don't see why the show couldn't have explained the asteroid hit from the start and had the first few episodes feature the team settling in and doing small jobs leading up to it. I don't see how MacLaren is going to be able to keep his FBI job when he keeps ditching work and acting like a paranoid flake. At the chemical plant (or whatever), once Gleason's Army guys figured out that the Traveler snipers weren't shooting to kill, why not just stop firing back and walk to the building. Jeez. Gleason's magic gun must have had 50 rounds. I'm still hanging it to find out what happens. Marcy's stupid goodbye call to David is going to come back to haunt her, is my guess.
  16. I just started watching Chosen on Crackle and Milo's lived-in, fully adult maleness is not hurting my enjoyment.
  17. That's probably a universal smile! I'm in Florida and we're in full-on snowbird season now. Lots of gusty sighs on my part from now until April.
  18. And his wife, Old Lady Lastnamehere. She lives in the house the neighborhood kids are scared to walk past.
  19. It sticks out more to me when obviously fake food labels or products are used.
  20. I wonder how adoptions are actually handled at VRC. I'm pretty sure nobody is limited to three dogs selected at random and must make a decision based on that. Do most shelters have potential adopters walk through the kennel areas? People go to shelters after seeing a particular animal online but that seems iffy to me, especially if they need to drive in from a few states away. We've seen just with the staff how different animals bond with different humans. It's not a science. Although a research paper would be interesting to read. I saw this announcement about new meet and greet opportunities since public tours at the kennel have been discontinued. It mentioned that vet bills last year were $463K. Yowza. It must cost several million a year to keep the place running. I imagine the paid staff don't make that much, either. The dog that was given away -- I understand Lizzie being upset but her anger seemed maybe a little out of proportion? Just considering all the horrific abuse and mistreatment and animals on death's door that they rescue. I don't think this guy had actually hurt the dog.
  21. My heart broke for Earl. Either remain in pain every day or succumb to prescription drug addiction. I was glad to see him back in his house; was afraid he might have lost it being away for 3 months. It would be nice if he's able to transition more into office work at VRC -- processing adoptions, answering calls, etc. Vlad seemed a little bit excitable for a small NY apartment, but the adoptive couple were so open and happy with him. I wish them the best.
  22. Well, I thought to myself, shorts already have fairly roomy thighs since the typical Bermuda or board shorts silhouette flares out a bit. But no! Barbell actually put this on their site as an example of a great fit.
  23. I'm calling this a peeve because although I watched it religiously, the show annoyed me more often than not. I would have been nominated under the "dowdy" category. Three quarters of my closet has been accumulated over 20 years from J.C. Penney's. I saw more than one binned garment on the show that I also own. (The white knit turtleneck with mistletoe design is a holiday classic!)
  24. I would have loved to see you nominated for What Not To Wear and turn their $5K age-appropriate money right down!
