I don't know, I guess they had to wrap things up so many of these BCS characters were going to die. Seems pretty random, Howard is there when Lalo shows up. Guess they wanted to stop having his character on the show so they just abruptly ended him. If Howard survived, after what goes down in the BB timeline, it would make Saul's escape almost impossible so maybe he had to die so that at least Gene could try to hide under plain sight. Jimmy played the con to destroy his brother but he wasn't as hardcore about destroying Howard. I don't even remember how she learned what Jimmy could do but she made sure they finished this job. They kind of glamorized Slipping' Jimmy, his grift was for survival and then for justice after the way Chuck treated him. At some point though, the grift became about ruining people, breaking them. Gould and Gilligan may perform fan service again, make sure Saul and Kim get their just desserts.

May be scripted but Scarlett would have to be willing to play along, kissing and hugging him for the cameras. Maybe there are enough young women willing to do that to get on TV.
-
Does anyone watch Boreanaz's recent shows? They look lame, probably nowhere near as good as Angel. But great for him to maintain a leading star career for so long.

They weren't going to be able to keep it a secret forever. If not Camilla making overt threats, other cartel people were going to put pressure on Clare -- I know she was desperate to keep her company alive but after the kinds of explicit and implied threats she's been subject to, she should have run away from the deal with the cartel. And Ruth was behaving like Marty and Wendy were going to keep her secret no matter what. Yeah she should have gone into hiding, not build a big home (how do they own such prime lakefront land anyways?) and taking over the casino, which means she has to be around the cartel all the time, no matter how she may refuse to launder the money.

Season 8: Predictions, Premonitions, Probabilities, and Paranoia
aghst replied to Babyfoot's topic in Southern Charm
I saw the trailer and Shep is talking about Naomi relapsing. Makes me think they will overplay it to death like the dumb threesome video a few seasons back. Or that it's fake and they need to have a story for these characters. Maybe it's a condition of Naomi returning to play along. -
Yeah those guests got sick of the courses before the desert courses They put up hurdles to stress out the cast and have more "interesting TV" to film.

Yup. The racing is kind of new. Probably was arranged with the other boat before hand because the other crew would have to sign waivers to appear on the show.

What Has the Crew Gotten Up To: General Crew Discussion
aghst replied to TexasGal's topic in Below Deck Sailing Yacht
Blech. So yeah it was jealousy that made Daisy prevent Scarlett from going out on the tender with Gary. -
This one had the best elimination so far but they're all based on strength and endurance aren't they? The crawl brawl with the women didn't get physical between the women but it was grueling caring that weight on your hands and knees. Some more variety would be nice, emphasizing agility, speed. Maybe some puzzle element as well. Among the Daily Challenges, the one with the swinging was good too. Where are they suppose to be? That oceanside villa is insane. But seems isolated so they can't go into town and go to a bar or club, which is responsible of B-M I suppose but it might be something imposed by the host country or city.

Yeah I just listened to the Prestige TV podcast. He said Sally was going to have a rise and fall arc, didn't say exactly why they wanted the fall but some of the writers and Berg had more experience with stories about shows being canceled abruptly.
-
It was probably meant to be satire, how companies like Netflix are too reliant on AI. And I forget the expression they used, something about "taste centers" or taste something being in the right area? But it's absurd, how quickly Sally's triumph disappeared. In any event, it was inevitable that she would fail. If she became a big star, she'd no longer be in Barry's orbit. Even though she dumped him for a second time in this episode, they're going to be around each other again or there's no point in her being on the show. And honestly, guy like Barry is probably used to finding women willing to hook up with him. Don't buy that she's his true love or something.
-
I didn't even recognize Laura San Giacomo, though I've only seen her in sex lies, videotape. Yeah that collage was weird. He gets an inspiration, buys all the office supply store stuff. It's tough, he might have to get rid of Albert too. So he has to dig deeper and deeper when it comes to the debt of bad acts in the cosmic ledger. Either that or Albert will be the guy to take him down?
-
They're making Barry out to be this evil mastermind now, with this talk in in crazytimeshitshow episode about the psyops he'd do to mess with the woman who canceled Sally's show. In the first two seasons, he was suppose to be this lost, aimless guy who became a trained killer in the military and whom Fuches molded into a killer. Then it was revealed that he has anger issues when he would go on a rampage. Now it's like he can premeditate and make people commit suicide? So Barry's fate looks sealed.
-
That was my instant reaction too, they're retconning him, making him more evil than he's been in the past. He's a guns guy, not a psyops guy. I don't find it believable that fake Netflix would instantly cancel a show. They may not renew it and they may not promote it as much but they paid for the season so why would they bury it? Presumably she gets paid anyways. Especially if her deal was for more than a year. Because do Netflix subscribers depend only on the algorithm to recommend them new shows or do they look at reviews, RT scores and such, word of mouth, which is informed by the reviews and RT scores? I can believe that an inferior show would get more viewers but 27% vs. 98%? Not saying RT scores are everything but a high score gets you more coverage, more articles written. Again, unless subscribers are ONLY depending on recommendations by an algorithm. Plus I think low scores or reviews will make people not bother to try out a show. What are the odds that Barry's old army buddy is now in the FBI, gets assigned to this case, and believes it was Barry? If they use profiling, it probably comes up that way. But I don't think the local cops would jump when an FBI guy joins the case late and gives orders. The Janice case, after awhile, would kind of be dropped, because there are other cases happening. I'm also scratching my head about a Bolivian gang being so well-resourced, having reach well into the US and committing that kind of violence with impunity. Maybe that's the joke that of all the criminal groups operating in the US, you have these gangs from small, distant countries waging a big war in LA. The Chechen gang is kind of lovable, incompetents. The Bolivians are like paramilitary and professional? Yeah but they would get in line behind the Armenians and the Mexican cartels. They would not be running SWAT operations so far out of their territory. The father was ready to give up on LA, figured they gave it a try and it wasn't going to be. Then the daughter shows up and goes scorched earth? Other thing is Fuches, the Raven is on the police radar because of what Hank sold to the cops. After this big shootout, I wonder if the cops are going to listen to Albert, instead they might pursue these gangs and come across the Raven.

No doubt the food is good. But the same dishes in Italy would be a lot cheaper than in Central London. Interesting that a lot of the restauranteurs featured didn't have restaurants back in Italy. Seems like a more risky undertaking given the much higher rents. Also interesting to know how many Italians live in London. Money is going to attract a lot of people. Didn't know about internment of Italian men during the war. So this episode was filmed at the end of July because Stanley complains about it raining. Here's what's on the menu in the episode. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/stanley-tucci-searching-for-italy-london-itinerary-origseriesfilms/index.html I would like to try the scallops dish with the 'nduja sausage but I don't see it in the Sartoria menu, which seems like an overpriced, average place.

I think they planned for her to bomb. She wasnT going tO win them over that easily. the point of the season is that Deb is trying to find a new act, a new voice. So at this point, she’s still struggling.

I vaguely recall that Marcus in season 1 was kind of inexperienced with dating? Worked too much and then probably after the breakup, he dove into something he has difficulty managing? Let's see how it plays out after he joins the tour. Maybe there will be a better resolution for what's missing in his life.

We've started in the season 3 threads to touch on Barry's irredeemability and his nature, whether he can or deserves to try to transition to a more normal life, as is his stated wish. The general consensus seems to be that Barry's body count is too much to overlook, that he can't quit the life of violence even if he wants to, that he's a danger to people he professes to love. First of all, I hope that Barry goes on for at least 2 more seasons, as long as Hader and Berg remained engaged, turn out great TV. But at some point, they have to end it and determine the fate of Barry the character and to a certain extent, how Barry the show will be seen. I don't think there's intense hate for the character yet, not the way there was hate for a character like Walter White towards the end of BB's run. We're not seeing people post that Barry needs to die or get caught and put to death or life in prison without parole. In general, not just on this forum but outside of it, there is a certain Puritanical impulse, to have people punished for their deeds. So all these antihero characters on prestige TV the last couple of decades, we want them either dead or at least locked up forever. A notably missing option is rehabilitation, whether monsters who kill many people are capable of being turned around or to continue with the religious overtones, be redeemed. It's not surprising since this country was founded by Puritans or those with similar theology. There are a lot of Catholics in this country but it's certainly not the predominant ethos, especially the Catholic allowance for literal deathbed conversions, to reform the souls even of the most wicked. All they have to say is ask for forgiveness and accept God, as the Catholic Church defines Him, to save their souls. So this notion of punishment informs our justice system and also seems to be ingrained enough that we apply it to fictitious characters. A recent example would be:
-
Even if Ruth escaped this time, they'd be coming after her over and over. Her killing Javi was just as impulsive as the shit Darlene did until it caught up to her. She had to know she wasn't going to get away with it either but she didn't care. Her character was a fan favorite, defiant and spunky even in the end. Doesn't mean she was an innocent either, more deserving to live her best life than the other characters. The whole plotting was so cynical, about the FBI being as corrupt as the cartel. Because basically, they not only executed Omar, they executed a guard to justify executing Omar. And of course the Byrdes as power brokers behind their foundation are rotten to the core. But are they really free? Because they just replaced Omar with psycho dragon bitch, who wanted to kill Ruth herself. Clare and the Byrdes have to look over their shoulder all their lives. Camilla is even more ruthless and psychopathic than Omar or Javi.

Already deleted from my DVR. Didn't even finish last season.

Yes the hit is from the pilot. I don't know if they planned to use it again 2 seasons later or they reconstructed the scene and then built a story about his wife and son later. I believe it's the latter, though Hader mentioned it is from the pilot and I guess wanted to show how Barry's hits have left a lot of pain and misery, even though it wasn't emphasized at the time or through most of the the first two seasons. Makes you think that the ending of the series will have Barry either die or get captured, because he's killed too many for him to just walk away and get what he wants.

They need to be a lot better than Siesta Key, which is dreck. Need to be more imaginative than Hills New Beginnings though I have no expectations that it will be. At least the original JS cast, while leaning into the usual bing drinking debauchery of reality shows, also showed some quirks. They tried to tout this guido culture, which was mostly about over the top hairdos, including for guys. MTV had actually done a doc about guido culture feature a couple of the cast members. Then someone got the bright idea, do a show and make them get drunk and fight and the rest is history. The only Hollywood/LA culture which they will play up are the stereotypes.

I just don't see anger or abuse. Deb holding up her iPad with photos of Ava's condo doesn't come across as an angry act. More like teasing and trolling that she's going to get the condo in the suit and sell it. Or Ava's bed on the bus being narrow and her only getting a hook for her stuff because they needed to reserve space for her LED bed or something was played for comic effect. Ava seemed to sleep well. Then she busy that big cabinet to cut off more space by her bed. Some people like Maher accuse people of Ava's generation for being too sensitive and not being able to take a joke. Well Ava took most of these humiliations in stride. Honestly think she wouldn't have put up with it if she thought Deb was being abusive.

I'm going to bail. These relationships aren't believable. They cast beautiful women, who look great in bikinis, though they don't use the bikini ass and torso shots as much as they used to in season 1 and 2. Lexi is suppose to be Juliette's friend but her "friend" just started filming this season or last season? They hardly seem to know each other. With them becoming supposedly more involved with their careers, they have less reason to dress like girls trying to attract attention. So less reason for them to be in bikinis or dressing like teens with clothing which emphasize body parts. Nah, they're never going to stop doing that. But at least in the early seasons, there was so much snark-worthy content. Now it's not even worth bothering.

Hmm, I missed the part about twenty somethings. The original were high school kids, so they should have been 17 or 18 at the oldest. And New Beginnings, the cast was well over 30? I didn't know the Hills were set in Malibu. Are there apartments or sub $2 million homes in Malibu? Yeah if the reboot is about them going from one club to another or one fake event to another, like New Beginnings, then the producers probably believe New Beginnings had the right formula but the cast wasn't right or too old to draw big ratings. OTOH, these producers probably don't have great ideas either. All reality shows these days is about getting the cast together at these fake events and they can snipe at each other. Snipe at each other on social media and then get together at these events for face to face confrontations. So ply them with booze and encourage them to trash talk each other, profit! Some of the cast members on New Beginnings are in their twenties aren't they? Pamela Anderson's kid and that chick who was supposedly married to Brody? Watch them bring them back to the cast.
