I can understand Paul being upset. Ava was set up to be high achiever, could have studied medicine. But she self-sabotaged. I don't think it was nearly as bad as him yelling right at Luke's face. In fact, Ava seemed more distraught that her friend was upset than Paul cursing. They have to deal with drama with the kids, drama at work, and now drama with the parents, from the previews for the next episode.

He also said it in the second season. But really, no reason Albert would know he used that phrase.

That's what I was thinking. He snuck into the house and could have killed Jim Moss from across the room instead of walking up close to him, which is when the cops yelled at him to put the gun down. Jim got Fuches telling him that Barry did it, didn't he? Yet Jim got Gene to confess to him but Gene was told by Fuches. So there's a lot of hearsay there, not a confession from the shooter who killed Janice. You'd think Jim would know that. Also the place is swarming with cops and Barry didn't sense it at all? In any event there's a season 3 retrospective featurette and Hader said season 4 is not going to be like season 3, promised the funny would come back. When Sally asked Barry to break into Nathalie's house, that was another "What??!" minute, like when the detective in season 2 arrested him, told him he knew Barry killed Janice, but he would make it all go away if he killed his wife's boyfriend, who was the martial arts expert with a young daughter who was also a martial arts expert. Albert also cut him a break too. Barry isn't exactly evading detection but people are ready to forgive him, not bring him to justice? These are LEOs too. But Albert says he doesn't think Barry is evil, though he just told Barry to stop, "starting now!" rather than tell him to get therapy or something more substantial than quitting cold turkey.

Has Kathryn appeared on other Bravo shows or any other shows like Austen, Shep, Craig? If Bravo and other show producers didn't think she was enough of a draw, why do they keep her on the show?

House Hunters International - General Discussion
aghst replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in House Hunters International
Wife got what she wanted, unless hubby was serious about a garden in a dense, Dutch city. Or extra room for visiting family. He seemed to like living in Cape Town but his job took him away to Europe so it makes sense to cHoose Haarlem as a new base since he flies all the time to ScHipol airport. As thE mother of a toddler, she didn’t seem to want to keep singing in night clubs eitHer. The agent is not new to HHI but I don’t recall her doing any of the Netherlands episodes before. Can’t recall which ones she’s done in the past. -
I actually bookmarked a place here in France which specialized in poutine. Never got to trY it out though. but they seem to integrate in salad and poke-like bowls. Lot of good Google reviews. will just have to visit Montreal and Toronto some day.

I thought at first this was a series meant to appeal to children, featuring a superhero character who seems barely out of adolescence. Not sure what to make of this latest attempt to do a United Colors of Benetton for the MCU. On the one hand, if you're going to have hundreds or maybe even thousands of superheroes, yes let's not make them all white. On the other hand, it seems an obvious attempt to appeal to a certain ethnic or socioeconomic group, just as Disney is making blatant attempts to cater to the Chinese market with casting and careful messaging on certain sensitive political topics. United Colors of Benetton was of course a cynical ad campaign as well. Of course if Disney/Marvel want to be taken seriously, the series has to depict something about the Pakistani-American experience since they made her ethnicity a key part of the character's identity. I don't doubt that they'll try nor that a lot of Pakistani-Americans, especially those around the age of the main character or younger will take it as a positive depiction of their experience. Certainly African-Americans took great pride in Black Panther with its depictions of a superior black civilzation. But is a superhero movie the best way to depict issues around being an ethnic minority, an outsider in America? I rather suspect that movies like My Beautiful Launderette or Bend it like Beckham gives a better idea of life for South Asians in the UK than a Disney property shows a similar experience in America. Certainly the Disney show has the potential for much greater reach, in the US and probably everywhere this show is streamed.

They encourage primary charter guest Jourdi, who had said she was trying to stay away from alcohol, to drink up and enjoy her birthday and charter. That brought out the wild girl, who talks about having a threesome with Culver and Britain and going topless with her brother at the hot tub, not to mention FaceTiming with her dad while topless. Not only that, she's trying to steal Culver from Brittini, who's the nice girl in the title of the episode. Brittini, he's just not that into you. Culver was low-energy on this charter. There was a big party but Culver wasn't into it. Captain Jason notices it and has Jaime tell him to step up, which Culver takes as an affront -- he goes on duty and scarfs down breakfast right away. Eh a little mix up with service timing and steak filets become Thai beef salad as they cool. They need to cut Nate some slack after he had to clean up after Ryan. But now Nate's freaking out about the demands of the next charter, which starts the next day, just like BDSY is doing a quick turnaround charter. Of course the kids are still going out to party even though they have to be real to work early next morning.

If nothing else Thomas can hire nannies and have minimal contact with the children.

The person in charge of the show is a woman isn't it? Also one of the show runners?

Interesting format. But let's see if these contestants try to organize alliances before the shooting somehow or organize them once they figure out how to hack the game.

The Challenge in the Media: "The road to [fame] is straight and narrow."
aghst replied to Stinger97's topic in The Challenge
When are they coming back to take care of their baby? Challenge is undergoing a huge expansion. Surely they will be able to win money in one of the incarnations? But they left in their prime so it could be tough for them to come back, even if MTV wanted them back. -
Cristin’s face is familiar but I had to look up which other roles I’ve seen her in. She’s been around a lot longer than I would have guessed as one of her first roles was in The Sopranos but it was a small role. The other parts I’d have seen her in was a handful of episodes in The Mindy Project and one of the early seasons of Fargo. So Made for Love seems to be her first leading role?

Let's see if she has more range than playing a cursing chihuahua with a Southern accent.

Things look pretty bleak. How does this family persevere? Both their job situations are unsatisfactory or precarious and now the kids bLame the parents. I was thinking Paul just seemed to stop being a rageaholic, cursing up a storm. But Ava dumps on Ally and Ally blames Paul’s anger for causing so much strife. They try to weave in some humor but it’s unpleasant to watch, teenage angst and middle age malaise. Now even the seniors are going to have drama.

Producers are working very hard to make the crew work hard. The molecular gastronomy and the relay race smell like producer crap. At least the crew were into it. I'm sure the guests really packed all those uniforms and knew what kind of equipment would be available for the race. But now they have to turn it around the very next day for the last charter? They completely control the schedule so give me a break with that. Looks like these fools stay up late partying, which is of course another thing the producers control -- just make sure there's enough booze on board. I'm trying to remember has a cast member on any of the BD shows blown off the crew night out? Very rarely. Some cast members always turn in early, don't go around drinking more or twerking in the hot tub for other cast mates and the cameras. I can believe crew members on real charters hooking up or even dating. But I doubt they let them use the yachts to hook up in the hot tub, give them all the provisioned booze or let them have sex in the main guest cabins. Why would the yacht owners facilitate all that, they're not trying to film drunken shenanigans for a TV show.

Even if that were to happen, Deb would have more clout. Presumably the networks would side with a star who draws in viewers than a first-time show runner or one with limited experience.

Also what was that writer's meeting for the Medusas show about? One of the Medusa's is horny but turns her hookup partner into stone accidentally because the snakes get out from under a hat. Then the medusa sucks his dick and eats it? First of all, how would they depict that on a TV show? Second, he's made of stone, so? It took Sally to challenge the scenario and another woman writer to say a woman wouldn't act that way. Seems like Hader and his writers have a pretty dim view of the TV business as it exists today. The other thing is, first two seasons, Hader and Berg would talk about each episode, their writing decisions and so forth. This season, Hader is only talking about the episodes in a podcast. Maybe Berg wasn't as hands-on for season 3 even though he was instrumental in launching the show with Hader? IIRC, Hader used the early part of the pandemic to write up all of season 3 and maybe parts of season 4. So maybe it was mostly him involved in the writing of this season but he talks about discussions with other writers. Maybe he wrote the outline or first drafts of all season 3 episodes and then at a later point, he hashed out a lot of it with the other writers. While the season has been good, I think it's taken on a more serious or somber tone compared to the first two seasons.. It's still good but it's not the same show that some of us fell in love with.

Obviously Fuches made Barry worse or as he says it, "harnessed" Barry's destructive abilities for profit. So no he didn't have a good father figure molding him or pointing him in the right direction. As we see, his desire for vengeance shows he's pretty sociopathic himself. The first couple of season or at least through the first part of season 2, you saw him being a fumbling, comic figure, who just happened to be involved in this grim business. He's still a figure for derision but he has to be pretty ruthless himself.

That’s the other thing, Hank going to Bolivia is suicidal. Elena already was looking for Hank and he goes to her? Unless he’s more scared of the Chechens coming to LA after the shootout. Kind of a scary situation so how much comedy are they going to get out of him being drugged and locked up?i If he manages to escape with Cristobal, that would be some Breaking Bad level of survival. But when Fring goes down to take on the cartel, he kills a lot of them because they will just chase them back to the US. Well we see Elena will fly in a private jet to LA and bring more paramilitary soldiers for a big shootout. So what is Hank going to do, kill Elena and soldiers so she won’t come back after them?

Hader said that Ryan was this douchey guy but the father shows that everyone has someone who loved him. I guess the father was anguished about Ryan's death but still couldn't kill Barry so he killed himself? Was he a doctor? Hader also said it's pretty common for same story ideas to be pitched to various different producers.

It’s ridiculous that Gene would get a show. He’s not known to the public. If they say he taught some famous actors, that might be one thing but he was teaching a lot of aspiring actors who may never get roles. In general most viewers aren’t watching a show about acting. Maybe if some famous actors guest starred on each episode and talked about some of the work they’re famous for. When they finally release it it might last about as long as Joplin. Then maybe Gene will have his come to Jesus moment about Barry, again. Annie doesn’t know what she’s doing yet she’s going to fail upwards and get other gigs? maybe the point is Hollywood doesn’t know what it’s doing. May mean Just Desserts will also fail.
-
Hader said in the Prestige TV podcast that the takeaway for the scene was Sally describing Natalie's show as a math equation. He said in the previous episode where Joplin is canceled, Natalie is furiously taking notes on her phone in that meeting where Banshe executive explains their algorithm or explains why Joplin is canceled.

One more episode left in season 3 and now there are too many people who suspect Barry. Gene is not going to implicate him because things are going well with his show and his ex gf. But it sure looks like Albert knows. Possibly Janice's father too So either that leads to Barry being caught or both of these characters are also going to die if they plan to keep the show going for awhile.
-
It was Ryan's father, the guy in the pilot Barry is suppose to kill. Barry follows him to Gene's acting class. Ryan was having an affair with Goran's wife so the Chechen mob hired Barry to kill Ryan but in the pilot they kill Ryan before Barry could IIRC. Yeah how did he track Barry down? And they don't show it but apparently Ryan's father kills himself rather than kill Barry, who's vulnerable. And how did the paramedics get to that car so quickly and rescue Barry, who's probably going to be treated for whatever poison? Also confused on how Just Desserts, about Natalie and her daughter having a cupcake store in Central Park, is Sally's story or life? Or Sally just jealous that Natalie got her own show? Janice's father turned out to be a straight by the books cop, took Fuches to police headquarters. But now he's suspicious of Gene, who's got Master Class and maybe a shot with Annie. In the interrogation, Albert has seen the crazy side of Barry, arguably saved his life? Fuches bragging to Albert that he harnessed Barry's homicidal rage implicates him also doesn't it? Some kind of criminal conspiracy? Now Albert goes off on his own, armed? Or would he tell the FBI that there's a contract killer on the loose and ask for backup? So Albert and maybe Janice's father have to die so that Barry remains free? Or are they planning to wrap everything up by season 4?
