Kody Brown: The Man Who Survived a KNIFE to the KIDNEYS!

Yes please! That title is brilliant, what else can you come up with? -
Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Why do I think Robyn would never accept this? Every now and then, possibly. Half the time? Absolutely not. I"m glad Truely now has a choice in this as, not being wanted is so destructive for a child (or anyone or that matter) -
Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore

Most people out here support Christine and are well aware of what she’s had to endure. The point of my comment wasn’t to attack her, but merely to discuss why it had to take her three years and why now. -

His finances? I can come up with numerous reasons why Kody wants to keep that behind lock and key. And I too found it odd that Christine waited 3 years before filing for child support. Like @Orcinus orcasaid: she should have done it the moment she walked out or shortly after. Why now? -

I doubt Kody can be bothered about visits or having to give consent for Truely’s travels. He simply doesn’t care. I also doubt Christine really needs the money to support Truely, unless it’s to pay off that hideous medical bill from years back. I can’t get over the idea that it sounds a bit like revenge. Forcing him to put everything out in the open and annoy him like hell. -
Your assumption is correct. I’m a self employed tutor. It pays well, but the actual working hours are limited as most of my customers either go to school or work. 80% of my lessons thus takes place after 4.30pm. Part time great, full time… not so much. Teaching anything after 09.30pm is pointless as people are simply too tired. (That chess academy would be a game changer though, if that’s where he is. They offer (private) lessons but teach at schools during the day. That’s extra working hours.

I believe that some shows like SW truly started off as genuine reality. However, there’s only so much that can be broadcast as interesting when it comes to ordinary life. Even when “ordinary” means 1 husband, 3 wives and 13 kids.

Could it be that we were first drawn to reality shows because we believed it to be real? Maybe I’m wrong here but the first reality shows always felt more like documentaries rather than the fake soap operas that became the norm later on.

Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
True, I switched from high school teaching to private tuition. But I’m bound by time: Few can come earlier than 4pm, and teaching after say 09.30pm is also pointless as most are too tired or lack in concentration at that time a night. That leaves me with about 25 one-hour slots a week. (Week days as very few will want to come for lessons in the weekends) Great for a part time job, but I honestly don’t see how this would work fulltime. Maybe some will come for chess lessons in the weekend, but still… Not that I find Tony one to work fulltime though😉 -
Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)

How's that going to provide for a family of five? Such jobs typically only allow for a few hours of work in the evenings or possibly late afternoons as most people have regular jobs or school during the day. That family keeps on surprising me with their ability to find non-standard jobs/ or jobs that do not seem the type of jobs that could help provide for a family... -
Janelle Brown: Smarter Than Your Average Brown (Maybe)

Does anyone remember Maddie's constant whining about even the smallest chore that needed to be done? How in-cre-di-bly HARD and tiring it was to be a housewife and mother of 2? Somehow I just cannot envision seeing her doing actual farm work... That would put the words "hard work" into a completely new perspective. -
In my immediate area, there are several orthodox Christian communities who still condemn suicide, so unfortunately it isn’t that uncommon….

@Elizzikra You really should give it a try though! I managed to avoid this film for years until one of my kids put it on a year ago. It's one of the best, touching and funniest movies I have ever seen. And yes, the thick Southern accent maybe is a bit much, but without it, the whole person of Forrest, who has a mild mental disability and grew up in a small town in the Deep South, would definitely be less convincing. Forest seems to have the mental abilities of a child (Hanks plays him very respectfully in my opinion) but he is actually spot on with his observations on human behaviour and big events in American history, making him a lot wiser than most people. It's one of those few gems that can actually be very touching, funny and sad at the same time.

Kody Brown: The Man Who Survived a KNIFE to the KIDNEYS!

That is....a lot of money for a lot of awful paintings and prints if you ask me. Then again, the value of most "art" is determined by whatever the biggest idiot wants to pay for it. It makes me wonder if they've insured any of that stuff in case it gets stolen or in case of a fire. Probably not if they can't even be bothered with insuring the single most valuable thing you have (your health!) -
Even before the triple separation it was pretty obvious that Robyn "shielded" her kids from the rest of the family. By now, those five kids are probably so far alienated from the rest that they see no reason to join in any of the "family" celebrations at all. As for Christine not saying "hi": My parents have a long and painful history and divorced. They now "respectfully ignore" each other the odd occasion they meet at a family celebration. I prefer it over any awkward, tense and nervous mini chit-chat any time. So, I give Christine a pass on this one. I know how she feels.

Fair point, plus the fact that no one has a real insight into their financial savings. We do know however that Kody has gone bankrupt in the past as well as some of the wives. We also know that Robyn was in serious debt when she met Kody. They’ve racked up some monsterous medical bills due to a lack of insurance for the kids (Mykelti, Truely and Dayton). And if they had enough money, why taking out extra koans on the house or squander Janelle’s retirement fund? Based on their previous actions, it’s just hard to imagine them in a different situation I guess.

Without the helocs/extra mortgages and proper maintenance, it would have been an amazing investment. Yet, even with those taken into consideration, they’d probably still make a pretty decent return. The big question is: what’s left of that after everything else? He’s gone through 3 “divorces” and they never come cheap as assets need to be divided and you lose out on your partners’ income. And I’m not even taking into consideration the possibility that he still owes money to Janelle and Meri for CP. He’s had 3 kids in college recently (assuming he didn’t pay for the other kids) and that’s a small fortune in itself. Someone, or possibly both of them, seems to have a huge shopping addiction which needs to be funded. On top, we had Covid 19 a few years back which was a financial disaster for many businesses. Filming mostly came to a halt and I’m sure their other businesses suffered, just like anyone else’s.Lots of people took huge loans or burned through their financial reserve to survive that. Many still haven’t recovered. Based on simple reasoning/common sense, it can’t possibly look good, unless he really is making a fortune somehow. But if that truly was the case, surely they would have paid for that dangerous deck in order to keep precious Ari safe?

I’d prefer any of those houses over this ugly house riddled with issues any time!
-
But…..but it’s KODY BROWN’S HOUSE you’re buying! The one and only, absolutely amazing, handsome and intelligent renowned tv celebrity! I’m quite positive Kody has taken that into consideration when setting the asking price.

Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
Maybe that’s why they want a bigger house? It’ll probably be a crazy fan of the show or a poor woman who firmly believes that Douche just needs a bit of real love to fix all his issues…. -
I’ve now come to view the state of the trampoline as a metaphor for the house itself. They’re both poorly maintained.

Kody Brown: The Man Who Survived a KNIFE to the KIDNEYS!
LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
So odd that the agent allowed the filming! The house has famous notorious owners, so it’s bound to attract people with wrong plans or crazy fans with absolutely no intention to buy it. Generally, estate agents are a lot more careful with celebrity owned houses as far as I’m aware. -

LilyD replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
The house doesn’t seem loved and a bit “used up” if that makes sense? The railing on the deck is rotten in several places. It’s clearly visible on the pictures. You really need to have a good look at the wooden floor in the lounge to see it has quite a few rough patches. Couldn’t spot water damage but absolutely believe it’s there. It’s one of those homes that looks great on your first viewing but you don’t realise what mess you’ve bought until it’s empty and yours! PS tagd on Robyn’s clothes are also clearly visible! -
Very sad, but likely. We’ve all seen the relationships with his sons deteriorate as they got older. Maybe not so much with Logan in terms of fights, but he seems to have distanced himself to some extent from his dad. Apparently, this happens a lot among polygamous families, where fathers perceive sons as a threat to their patriarchal rule.

So, Kody’s thread is now just “part-time father. It isn’t fitting at all. He’s an absent dad to most and fulltime dad to a few. May I suggest starting a poll to find a new, more suitable name?
