This made me officially put Theresa in the Salem character trash heap. Even now, I have no sympathy for her regarding this matter (she has never expressed sympathy, remorse, or regret for wha she did and seems to delusion ally believe that since it got her what she wants and she never had to pay the price, there is no problem in her actions, but then again, she seems at peace with almost murdering someone, so trash she is). I know it may not be a popular opinion, but I feel that whatever winds up happening to her at Xander's hands will be a case of the chickens coming home to roost.

Past Plots Discussion: Whatever Happened To...

I agree. I never thought Kate was a great or even a really good person when played by Adair, but she had layers that made her understandable and sympathetic, even when she was awful to Billie before and after she found out Billie was her child (Rhinna's Billie was likable and rootable back then). While I like Laurne Koslow as an actress and think she is a wonderfully quirky personality, I have always thought her Kate is downright despicable with little to no redeeming values. -
Has this mess of a show ever made sense? But yes, even when compared to the nonsensical hodgepodge that was Zoo the season finale (which read more like a serie finale, Please Let This Be The Case), made no sense. This is Jamie's MO. Remember when the series began she got involved because of the guy she was involved with at that time, then Mitch was in proximity to her and she became all about him. When Mitch was out of arms reach, she became all about Logan, the current man in proximity. No Logan, so let's swing back to Mitch and vice versa. That Jamie is quite the catch.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Adrienne was 17 or 18. It was evident she was just out of school, but poin t taken because I thought the same thing when Steve made the 9 year-old comment. This plus Steve has to have about ten years on Adrienne so he 9 would make him late teens at the youngest. -
Abraham and Fet remain the only two characters on this show who I have ever found worthy of caring about. I love all their scenes together. Eph is a PoS and that son of his is a chip off the old shitty block. I was behind the Quinlin character until he threw his lot in with Eph the perpetual a**hole. And because it cannot be said often enough -- Die Zach, die!

When Angela was sitting with Tommy, all I wanted was for him to go off again and kill her. She is just the worst. She seriously keeps coming around Tasha on some real stalker type ish. She is supposed to be educated and all that, but she epitomizes hood rat syndrome to the max. If the series ends with her still alive and and not in prison, I will be beyond furious. Ghost stay being stupid, a character trait that increases the longer he is in proximity to the horrid Angela. He is so far from being in charge of anything, least of all his life or his business. Perhaps we will get the end of both Kannan (his character has more than run his course and Milan makes a more formidable and believable villain) and Tariq (no way we have gotten so much of him and now see him with Kannan if the show is not setting up for something really bad to happen to him). Poor Kisha, now she knows Tasha isn't really her friend, and she's trapped in the drug trade. Hopefully she walks away from this Milan arc in one piece. No way Sandoval lives past a few episodes into next season. Poor Greg, he love Angela, but no-one deserves to be saddled with that nightmare. She is either going to cause his death or finally put the nail in the coffin of his career. I used to wish for Tommy and Tasha (and the kids) to be the ones who manage to get away and live their lives, but Tommy is too far gone now.

Yes. The actor is so bad. No wonder he got paired with the equally poorly portrayed Tessa. -

In the US, spinoff announcements are months in the making. FJ was on The Blacklist for several episodes prior to the announcement. So as disconnected as it may sound, there was an overlap, heck, the fact that FJ was avail male to appear on The Blacklist was something that had to be known to the show runners. We might never know why FJ was allowed to go because as I stated, I thought and still think that Annalise and Eve were the best, most likable and most rootable couple. I do however find it interesting that on the heels of losing FJ, Ricamora becomes a regular cast member. Was it a money issue as I'm sure FJ, would cost more that CR, or did losing FJ let them know they had to shore their talent up? I was not implying that I want Connor and Michaela to become a couple, my point was they work best because they are not a couple. I guess I can support awful people befriending one another, but not romancing one another because for me to care about a couple, I would have to care about the people who make up the couple and at this stage of the game, none of the characters are likable enough for me to care about them. -

In the show's defense on the Annalise and eve relationship, once Famke moved over to the Blacklist, I think their hands were tied in terms of progressing with the couple, who I too loved, as I actually believed that Annalise really did love Eve, I mean as much as Annalise is capable of loving anyone. The questions we doesn't have the answers to are: Did the show plan to really explore this relationship, but neglect to sow up FJ, thereby enabling her to go where a guaranteed gig was? Did FJ jump ship because the show let her know they were backing off of Annalise and Eve in favor of the toxic and destructive rinse and repeat that is Annalise and Nate? As for potential couples/couples in canvass, I just want Frank away from Laurel because his go nowhere relationship with her ruined his character. I'm no Laurel fan, so I never got what he found so appealing about her aside from the pretty, but Frank doesn't strike me as the type who has trouble pulling attractive women. Strangely, the couple that works best are Michaela and Connor and that's because they have developed a good friendship that I want to survive this mess, assuming they survive. -
S01.E11: Freedom from Fear
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
I love this post. Both the idea that the SBK connect is both Tom and Sophie for different reasons, and the fact that the show so many of us have been slamming as stupid, did the smartest thing possible, showed us the killer (Maddie) and then hid her in plain site, all the while reminding us that she is a saddistic, cold-blooded killer. Remember her conversation with Garrett about killing Mitch and her employing Alllison to destroy anyone who got in her way. -
I think Charity is making a major mistake. She should go with her first instinct when Kevin came to her with the pray the gay away program -- he cannot change his sexual orientation. If she stays with him, she will be setting herself up for a tremendous world of hurt. I agree that information is missing from the interaction between the sisters. James and Mavis' very clear fondness for each other speaks volumes and Mavis' super close relationship with Grace does indeed lead one to speculate. I am leaning toward Mae being Grace's biological mother based on her comments to Mavis about motherhood; what she said seems risky if she knew Mavis could throw Grace's maternity in her face. However, if it is revealed that Mavis is Grace's biological mother, the venom Mae feels towards her becomes more understandable (not saying acceptable). Imagine agreeing to or being forced to raise your husband's child by another woman and watch your husband clearly prefer said child over your children. How does that make you feel towards your husband, the child, your place in his life; I mean does he prefer this child because secretly he prefers the other woman? Now imagine that woman is your own sister. Under what circumstances did your husband and sister decide it was perfectly acceptable to betray you and then expect you to bury your feelings and raise the product of their betrayal as your child? Would the situation be worse if you and you sister were once close, or if you had been at odds for your entire lives? I get why most people hate Lady Mae, and believe me, she is not someone I am fond of, but I felt for her in that scene with her father. The way he treated her, the names he called her. How would that impact a child, because it appears to me that this has been the nature of their relationship for long enough that the children know who he is, but don't relate to him as a grandparent, or an adult who was present in their lives. Given that Mavis also has no relationship with him, the only thing the sisters seem to agree upon, tells me that this man was a monster in their lives. I remember thinking that he probably molested Mae, he just seems to be the type. His comments about Mack and his nonchalant reaction to why he is incarcerated speaks volumes to me. I guess I'm saying that there has to be a reason James seems to love Mae so much. I think a lot of things have contributed to making Mae the monster that we currently see. I'm on the not feeling Noah train. Reverend Light and Wavy is clearly a viper in the midst. No wonder his name is Skanks. I'm still wondering what the deal is with Jacob's side piece and her fascination with black churches?

If they can't remember that various people with the last name Brady, Caroline, Kayla, Eric, Theresa, Ciara, etc. are related, then why would they remember that Steve is related to Adrienne, Sonny, Abby, JJ when none of them have the same last names -- Johnson, Kiriakis, Deveroux. I mean what's wrong with you, asking them to do something as ridiculous as knowing the characters on the show they are writing. -
S01.E11: Freedom from Fear
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
If I'm not mistaken, the video that revealed the accomplice was not from the Morales murder, but another of the murders. That video also corresponds with what we saw here. There is someone waiting in the car, SBK does the deed, comes out, gets in the car with the accomplice who drives away. Maddie was in the house with Mitchell, so she clearly wasn't sitting in the car waiting for him so they could drive away. As for the stabbing, I think we are supposed to conclude that Chrisitna stabbed Garrett on behalf of her dad, and also likely because he insinuated himself in her life and she was actually falling for the man involved in her father's death. -
S01.E11: Freedom from Fear
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
I really like this theory. It also explains the story we heard in the Garrett flashback episode where Cam talked about how he kept running into Sophie wherever he went. Sophie knows that the Hawthornes had to have something to do with her Dad's disappearance; she watches the family; realizes Cam is the weakest link and moves in on him (maybe even coming to care for him along the way, at the very least, she loves the access to the family and the money for her habit). The discovery of the belt; Mitchell's heart attack and Garrett's return now set the stage for her to act. Perhaps Sophie logically assumed that Garrett killed her father (he did, but not in the way she thinks), and perhaps Mr. Morales. Sophie is now striking again because she is ready to make Garrett and the Hawthornes pay in her own special way, especially now that Cam has finally kicked her to the curb. The reporter stumbled upon something and had to go, when Brady and the other cop found the blind lady (a relative or family friend perhaps), she became a liability and had to go. This story also explains Garrett's obsession with Christina. He blames himself for her father's death because he let his parents talk him out of calling the police and into getting rid of SBK's body, thus enabling them to murder Christina's Dad and frame SBK. It's still hella-creepy but it's a more understandable creepy if that makes sense. I knew Maddie had more to do with Morales's death than she was acknowledging first because we have seen who she really is; second because she was way too quick to come up with a theory that would throw Garrett under the bus; third because even after Mitch's death, she very clearly did not want him around, had it just been M itch, she would have copied up to her son and asked for silence based on Mitch's death; fourth because I always suspected that the only person Maddie ever tried to protect was/is Maddie. Yes she cared for Mitch, yes, she cares for her kids, but above all, Madeline cares for Madeline. To me, the only real twist at this point would be if the guy Tessa pushed down the stairs wasn't SBK, but rather someone Maddie hired to take out Mitch when she knew the ish was getting ready to hit the fan. The guy had the bells because the plan was to make people think Mitch was an SBK victim. Eliminating Mitch, the thief and setting herself and the children for sympathy rather than ostracizaction, plus Mitch's death would likely temporarily shut up Morales who seemed like a good man, who wouldn't further decimate a grieving family; thereby giving Maddie time to hide a good portion of the Hawthorne fortune before the theft is revealed. SBK goes into hiding, or is perhaps arrested around d the time of the Morales murder and when things get brought up again, he becomes active as SBK again. He could have changed his MO and have been actively killing since then, but that would be another story. -
As someone who has watched Victor since his introduction to the show, I remain amazed that people say that this drug-dealing, rapist, murderer, kidnapper of pregnant women, attempted murderer of his own son, framer of innocent people for the crime of murder, and so on and so on, would not stoop so low. This is exactly who Victor is and what he is capable of and of the characters currently on the scene, he is the most likely to have committed this crime, because all he is capable of is stooping this low.

I'm doing my Season 2 rewatch in preparation of next month's premiere and I remain amazed that with all the horrid things she has done, Annalise remains the only person in the cast who has not intentionally committed murder (Frank, Bonnie, Asher), unintentional murder (The Keating Four) or attempted murder (Wes), yet somehow Annalise is held accountable sometimes even by the criminals themselves for the wrong they have done. Heck, even when she framed Nate, none of te self-righteous blamers stood up to clear Nate's name. So I guess my take away from the show is that Annalise picks her students not for their potential as lawyers but rather because the morally despicable clearly recognize their brethren.

We were promised previews, but CBS showed previews for the finale of American Gothic, which is messed up for viewers, since the episode this leads up to that preview has yet to air. Perhaps CBS will air the Zoo preview during American Gothic. I am pissed that the show is back to Jamie and Mitch. Aside from not liking Jamie, I actually think Mitch is better paired with Allison than little miss I'm in love with whatever man I'm in proximity to. Naturally, Logan will reappear and Jamie will be torn because two men are within breathable distance of her. Will Davies remain as the show's big bad, or will he be killed in the season finale?

Multiple people called the financial planner and the reason(s) behind the killing when we got the episodes with the fight at the funeral and him so gleefully throwing the stepfather under the bus, so that was no 11th-hour swerve. He also fit better with the murder we got, 22 stab wounds clearly speaks crime of passion/personal animus. Sadly, I think Naz would be better off in jail with Freddy than where he is now because I can only see things going downhill for him now from this point forward. Left to his own devices, Naz will only spiral. Chandra destroyed her career for someone she barely knew. Clearly the kiss from last week was the set-up for what happened in this episode. Given that the plan for a mistrial didn't come through, I think the show having Chandra become the coochie-heroin smuggler for Naz was their out in terms of people having sympathy for her. Her fall was faster and harder than Naz's, but the end-result is equally catastrophic. Ultimately, it was an okay show with great perfor, antes by Michael K. Williams and John Tuturro.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
Happytobehere replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
Love A. Martinez, but Eduardo has been like a lead weight. Is the character actually going, or is this Days' idea of setting up a "huge storyline." At this point, the only purpose being served by the pathetic storyline they have going for Steve and Kayla is to justify the break up, because at this point, why would she ever take him back. Kayla, I say go find Fynn and get your life. You deserve happiness and hopefully a break from the dullard of a son the show has saddled you with. Good going Steve, back door your way out of a promise to go to therapy and sit in the bar talking to a woman who looks like at hooker on the troll. I'm too through with your lunkheadedness. You tell Kayla all you have done on her behalf (you seem to have conveniently forgotten that Kayla told you not to take the bar tending job and that you would inevitably blame her for doing something you don't like and low and behold, less than a month in, you're miserable and it is somehow the fault of the person who told you not to do it), but feign ignorance when she tries to point out that the grand gestures are always easy for you, it is sticking with things over the long haul that have proven difficult for you. Can someone please find a viable and suitable love interest for Kayla, of course not, but I'm sure we'll get tons of women on the make for Steve -- so typically disgusting and sexist of Days. -
I recall an article from when the show first came on where they talked about the backgrounds of each of the then "other Braxtons" (it's where I found out about Towanda and her husband's history of scamming, thereby making her moniker as "The Responsible One" forever a joke). I think I recall them mentioning Trina's ex-husband as being the father of both boys, but the relationship broke up when Caleb was still a baby. He seemed to be out of the boys' lives, with as Trina noted, Gabe being the only father they really knew. While Trina and Gabe were married for about 14 years, they were together several years before the marriage. Side note -- Eric looks exactly like Trina, Caleb looks like her too, but Eric is her clone. In response to the question posed by another poster, yes, Eric has put on a ton of weight, possibly stress related be use of all that is going on.

Tamar: All About She.com
Happytobehere replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Braxton Family Values [V]
I can see a scenario where Tamar had her finger all in his face, being team too much as per usual, and Vince was like if you don't move your finger out of my face, I will bite it. Tamar being her and being used to getting away with her antics, kept it up, Vince bit her, hopefully not with the intent of doing damage and Tamar being her usual self called the cops in the midst of her hysterics, realized what she had done and now feels the fool because of the ramifications. -
S01.E10: The Veteran in a New Field
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
Actually, they ran through the entire series of books during Season One of Wayward Pines, that's why Matt Dillon's character died. The Stars stated they thought it would be a one-off as well, which is why people were surprised by the renewal, and a lot of the actors were not available for season two. The Killing was supposed to be a series, but the murder was supposed to be solved by the end of the first season until the show runners thought they could string it along and keep people coming back (that's why I included it because someone posted that they were concerned that American Gothic might choose to keep the killer's identity a secret as a mean of making this more than a one-off series). It backfired and the show runners later admitted that the bad will they engendered by not fulfilling their promise of a solved mystery proved too much for the show to overcome. The show never really recovered in terms of ratings because of this and when they wrapped up the murder mystery at the end of the second season, the damage had been done. The show had a great third season with a amazing villain, but the writing was on the wall and it wound up being cancelled. Had the producers kept the promised of each season being centered on a contained and solved mystery , it probably would have lasted longer. The temptation to drag things out to keep the pay checks coming is often too much and understandably so. -
I think that is the point, to have people examine how and why we perceive people the way we do. At first glance, we saw Naz as a helpful, college tutor from hard-working, religious immigrant family, who clearly didn't go out with the intention of looking for the trouble that found him and then foolishly did everything that made him look worse = Naz is a good kid. However, we actually knew nothing about Naz other than the facade. I remember poster saying a few episodes back that they didn't like the retcons to Naz's character, as if we actually knew anything about Naz. It goes to show viewer perspective. The show gave us some surface information and our minds, world-views, perspectives and presuppositions filled in the rest, and we internalized it and made these opinions true. I was in many a courtroom while interning for the DA in NY, and the vast majority of the courtrooms look just like that, poor lighting, colors that don't add to a feeling of lightness in the room, so that part is accurate.

S01.E10: The Veteran in a New Field
Happytobehere replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
The only way this would work is if Caleb is saved as a contact on the phone, which makes no sense given how Maddie reacts to him. Although, I guess it is possible that Caleb called Maddie, but again, given what we have been shown and told, that scenario makes no sense, but this is the nature of the show. At this point, the only person I want not to be somehow involved is Garrett, there is nothing to be gained and there is no shock value to be had by making him the guilty party. The same was said about Under the Dome, Wayward Pines and Season One of The Killing, and we all know or have heard how those promises played out. -
Why is this happening? What would be the purpose of this storyline other than continuing to make that nasty bit of trash, Ava a thing that won't go away. I have no interest in the never-ending chronicles of Steve and his assorted monstrous skanks that he unleashes on, and allows to wreak havoc on Kayla's life while expecting her to grin and bare it. Oh I almost forgot that Ava was a Higley pet and the propping will be non-stop. I think I'll be out for good once this story gets underway. I have no interest in watching Higlemonster destroying Kayla as she destroys everything. Good to see Days continue its tradition of the male half of a couple having children with other women, while the female half can only procreate with their male counterpart.
