  1. Idk, I've seen Ghostlight a half-dozen times and still don't really understand it. But that doesn't mean it isn't an interesting episode. Ah, Curse of Fenric - I have a love/hate relationship with that one. I absolutely love it and think it's a terrific story, but because it features undead/zombie-like creatures, it scares the beejeebus out of me. The first time my PBS aired it (and Survival, on the same night), I couldn't sleep afterwards and sat up all night watching some crappy Nia Peeples underwater monster movie. So I hate that it scares me so much (and that it made me watch a Nia Peeples movie).
  2. I never minded the Weavers that much, and actually thought that the other teams (especially the Linzes) were the ones who were acting like assholes who thought they were soooo superior. And I found the Paolos to be pretty obnoxious. The Gaghans? Well, the kids were cute, but they highlight the biggest thing wrong with the family edition: children. I didn't, and still don't, want to watch cute little kids bawling when they get eliminated on the Amazing Race. The teams really needed to be all adult family members. Oh, and much less USA-centric travel.
  3. I loved that leg of the Race! Stomping grapes in Corsica was a terrific task, and only the presence of He Who Shall Not Be Named could take away from it. Plus, Napoleon's birthplace! (Okay, that's the Napoleonic Wars buff in me talking.)
  4. Still one of my favorite detours ever, because it's one of the very, very few which I would actually rock.
  5. You might be in the minority, but you're definitely not alone. I found them moderately amusing at the time, and their mugging didn't particularly bother me. In retrospect, I think I might've liked them less if they hadn't been on the same leg as the uber-annoying Eric and Jeremy, but in comparison they were okay for me. Not one of my all-time favorite teams (that would be Drew & Kevin, Team Cha-Cha and Team Bald Snark), but still alright enough.
  6. Some seasons' teams I remember really well, especially the first five seasons, but otherwise, I agree with the props to the memories of posters here. Season 10 - ? lol
  7. Nope - you got all the important details. It happened in February of 2010, when Ramsey had only been starting for Arsenal for about 2 months, and he didn't get back into the side until March 2011, although he did play for teams in November 2010 on loan from Arsenal. It was nasty business, but then Stoke can be a nasty side.
  8. I really wish the whole movie had been about his character; he was a hoot. Most of the rest of it sucked.
  9. ANTM hasn't been a real modeling competition since about, oh, idk, Cycle 2. It has nothing to do with potential as a model, or Matthew, Shei, Will and Lennox would've been the final 4, with maybe Ivy thrown in. If this was really about modelling potential, Adam and Denzel would never have been chosen at all. In the end, the judges pick who Tyra wants them to pick.
  10. Debuchy's been injured for so long that I forgot he existed. Chambers is young, has been playing out of his preferred position, and has had to carry a lot of weight on his shoulders. I don't really blame him. I blame management (and not necessarily Arsene - I mean upstairs with the money and the decision makers) Arsenal's back line has no real back-ups to cover for injuries. They screwed around with Sagna, not offering him more than a year's extension until it was too late. They let Vermaelen and Jenkinson go. They basically hamstrung the defense. I mean, it's been a long time since Arsenal's back four were the scourge of the Premier League (they've never really replaced Martin and Big Tone), but still, the defense needs defenders, you know. And yeah, how dare Aaron Ramsey put his leg under Ryan Shawcross' foot and get it broken? Clearly it was all his fault.
  11. Oh man, we were sooooooo close to getting rid of the wrestlers! But I was pretty sure it was a non-elimination leg because there's frequently been one at this stage over the last several seasons. But still . . . why?!?!?!
  12. This is why I don't like Kids' Week. The clues are usually either way too easy and present no challenge (the Washington, DC FJ being a glaringly rare exception) or they want answers about kid's stuff that I wouldn't know, like the names of members of One Direction. When are the adults back again?
  13. Having first seen him as Horatio Hornblower, I can, with absolutely certainty, that IG is extremely well-suited to the fashions of that era. But those scenes with Nora, particularly the one where he was being dragged off to the nuthouse, were heartbreaking.
  14. I knew it, although I answered "What is Manassas?" (But no, I don't call it The War of Northern Aggression. lol) So did I. I didn't even think about Washington (the city) being in the District of Columbia.
  15. I might've been offended if Tiffani hadn't been a bitch to Dave during the discussion of who should get the prize. The epithet was well-deserved.
  16. Up until the head-shaving incident, I had no sympathy for Marcel and thought he was as bad as Cliff and Ilan; I wouldn't classify anything his castmates did or said to or about him to that point as bullying. But physical violence was absolutely not called for in any way. Still can't stand Marcel, however.
  17. I mostly thought Hung was a complete asshole, but I can't argue with him winning that season; he clearly was the superior chef, though I wish he hadn't found necessary to tell me that quite so much. He does get some asshole points deducted for the Smurf village in the grocery aisle quickfire, though. I would never have expected him to have that much whimsy.
  18. While I agree that Season 2 is the absolute worst, and the whole Marcel/Cliff confrontation (which resulted in Cliff's very deserved exit - physical force is/should be absolutely off-limits) was ugly, I don't buy that Marcel was bullied. He gave as good, and then some, as he got up until the head-shaving incident; for me, he was utterly unlikeable. There were a few eps early on in the season which were watchable, and I do still like Mikey and Sam (who should've won that season, imo), but that's about it.
  19. I always liked that Barbara was the more dominant of the two, but that Ian seemed to know what he wanted and was willing to wait for her. I rather suspect that had the Doctor never showed up in their lives, Ian might've been waiting a loooong time for Barbara.
  20. I tuned in a little late and thought maybe I missed Sally's infamous "All I want is my fair share" line, but I knew that Lucy trying to get Schroeder to play Jingle Bells had been cut. I hate when they do that - just show me the full version, damn it. Stop trying to ruin my precious childhood memories! Thanks for the info. I will mark my calendar for the uncut version.
  21. EW.com's comment section on the Sleepy Hollow recap for this episode is equally full of Katrina loathing.
  22. I love this movie! A friend and I drove both to Philadelphia and to Baltimore to see it in small art theaters because it didn't play any of the googleplexes near us. Some critics at the time referred to it as the thinking woman's Ghost, but that doesn't even begin to do justice to how good it is. Juliet Stevenson's crying in the beginning is a work of art all by itself, and AR is indeed magnificent.
  23. The Romans is actually my favorite story of all the First Doctor ones I've seen. (N.B. I haven't seen any of the previously missing/reconstructed ones, just the episodes shown on PBS.) Then again, I will confess to be inordinately fond of watching Ian in a toga . . .
