  1. Chock had surgery on her ankle last spring and is still recovering. They withdrew from the Finland Grand Prix event.
  2. It was called Game Changers. Alex interviewed Vanna White, Howie Mandel, Drew Carey, and Regis Philbin, among others.
  3. I'm back! Greece (and one day in Turkey) was wonderful. I even used my FJ knowledge by knowing that the turquoise jewelry I saw in Turkey was named for the country. Checked the archives and found that I'm still in contention for the worse score prize. Week 7: 1/5, week 8: 2/5, no *. Maybe I'll do better when the Teen Tournament starts. Fun fact: On the plane coming back to the States, one of the movie selections was a documentary on the history of game shows narrated by our own Alex Trebek. It was very interesting and Alex was on screen a lot, interviewing his fellow game show hosts. I also learned that Alex started his career hosting a Canadian version of American Bandstand. Check it out if you get a chance.
  4. I'm hoping to be able to run the "It's All Greek To Me" category.
  5. A three day cruise to the Greek Islands with a stop in Turkey, then seven days to various spots in Greece, ending in Athens. I'm only going so I can increase my knowledge for FJ.
  6. Week 6: 1/5. Back in contention for the worse score! I am going to be out of the country for the next two weeks, so I won't be able to participate. But I will check the clues when I get back and bring myself up to date. See you all in November!
  7. No, they were in San Diego for the conference with all the other cardiothoracic surgeons in NYC. Dr. Reynolds said that he was the designated survivor for New Amsterdam. Must have been a helluva conference.
  8. 3/5. I've been up, I've been down and now I'm just middling.
  9. Alex apologized for his performance as moderator. Boo hiss!
  10. The Jeopardy writers are definitely reading this forum. Monday we got Kit Carson Cody and yesterday we got Alex saying Camoo. They must want to join the band.
  11. What day of the week did the premiere take place? I thought Randall said it was Saturday. So Randall thought Philly councilmembers would be in their offices in City Hall and that city maintenance workers would make non-emergency repairs on a Saturday?
  12. Good For Me: I got 5/5 this week. Boo Hiss: I dropped out of contention for the Worse Score Prize. Update: 8/15 with 1 *
  13. A carnival in Pittsburgh in December with everyone wearing light jackets? I don't think so. Now if they had done a Christmas carnival, I might have bought it.
  14. Franco Harris' catch was nicknamed the Immaculate Reception, which of course is a pun on the phrase Immaculate CONCEPTION, which I guess is the connection between the Steelers play and Kate's quest to become pregnant.
  15. As I suspected, I'm 0/5 this past week and 3/10 overall. but, as @saber5055 said,, I'm in contention for a prize as the worst, so Woo-Hoo!
  16. Apparently Alex's wife didn't like the beard.
  17. Just to clarify this a little, in the Final Spin round, the guy solved the puzzle without calling a letter. Since he lost by $100, if he had just called a letter before solving, he would have won enough to go to the Bonus Round. Sometimes, I wonder if the players ever actually watch the show before appearing. But I guess it is easier when you are watching from the couch at home.
  18. I'm 0/4 this week and looking at today's FJ in the New York Times leads me to believe that I will be 0/5. Can I just pretend this week didn't happen?
  19. My first response to FJ was "Patrick Adams." I immediately changed it to Samuel Adams, but I kept thinking Patrick Adams. Now I know my subconscious was trying to tell me something. (or I just miss Mike on Suits.) 0/3 on FJ this week.
  20. I did get it and watched The International Classic at Salt Lake City this past weekend. They just had a camera showing the skaters without any commentators or graphics. So it was a lot like being at a competition. I assume that it will be fancier for the Grand Prix and US Nationals since NBC will be showing parts of those.
  21. Late to the contest but I was 3/5 last week.
  22. Just out of curiosity, could someone calculate who would have won had the judges not made the decision to accept the answer of guillotine but followed the rule that if what you wrote sounds different from the correct pronunciation, it's wrong? All three contestants would have been incorrect. I don't remember the amounts each had going into FJ or the wagers.
  23. New season change: putting the letter called by the contestant on the screen before it appears/ doesn't appear in the puzzle. I didn't see Monday's episode. Any explanation for why they are doing that? I like it since I often wasn't sure what letter the contestant called, especially the b,c d,g, t grouping
  24. I knew Drew was going down on Stage 3 when they started his run with only 5 minutes left in the show. C'mon, NBC, build some suspense. It's taped so they know how much time they have. Do a highlight show after the last run to fill in the time, but start the last run at least 15 minutes before the end.
