So the ISU has decided to go forward with the Grand Prix, kind of. ISU Announcement.. Lots of details to work out and I doubt that they will allow spectators in. But the ISU will still be able to get the television contracts money, so all is good. I wonder how many skaters will choose to participate.
I don't think TPTB realize how hard it is to keep a live show moving in a pleasant manner and finish on time, especially with the runaway mouths the judges get sometimes. Tom made it look easy and was funny too. If Tom's gone, so am I.
Thank you for all your hard work in running the contest, @saber5055. To all who participated, you made this so much fun. It is the first thing I look at when I turn my computer on in the morning. You all have the Royal Seal of Approval. See you next season!
I want to thank my father, my mother, my brothers and sisters, and my subconscious, which apparently knew more than my conscious mind, because I have no idea where I came up with at least three of the questions.
According to this, they are going to bookend the GOAT tournament with Ken Jennings' first and last appearances from his 74 game winning streak. That should be fun, if only to compare how Jeopardy! (and Alex and Ken) looked in 2004 with today.
@saber5055 and I are in agreement. I'm old enough to remember (and to have enjoyed) both the Point/Counterpoint segment on 60 Minutes as well as the SNL Dan Ackroyd/Jane Curtin takeoff. In fact, in the late '70s, I responded to the term of "ignorant slut" with great pride! (as the women on both shows were the liberal reasonable ones)
2/5, no *
However, I am in contention for the Close, But No Cigar Award, as I got the first name of 142, 2 out of 3 of the countries in 144, and I went back and forth between two Presidents and chose the wrong one in 145.
