  1. Also, don't they hold the winnings until the shows air? That way they can withhold any payouts pending the litigation.
  2. I know that there are all kinds of rules regarding using real babies in roles on television, but did they have to use such a big, healthy baby? Every time they talked about how malnourished or tiny the baby was, I went Really? It really took me out of the scenes.
  3. At the Teacher's Tournament, doesn't Farmer's Insurance pony up money for all the participants to use in their classrooms? I hope you do something cool with the money @teebax and don't let the smart mouth student get to use any of it ( I know, that's mean, but he was mean first). Best of luck to you.
  4. I didn't notice Max having any struggles with his treatment. In fact, he looked positively glowing with health throughout this episode with no reference at all to his cancer or treatment. But now I understand why the hospital has financial problems with so many people on the payroll who have no purpose. No previous administrator was aware of this?
  5. Raises her hand. I really enjoy it. I guess I'll have to consider it a guilty pleasure. And since this is the Jeopardy forum, I'll nit pick and tell you it is spelled "Grey's Anatomy."
  6. Sorry, @saber5055, the not having Nixon to kick around anymore speech came in 1962, after his unsuccessful run for Governor of California, not the Checkers speech. But both were probably Before Your Time.
  7. This is a story I really want to hear.
  8. The page was dog-eared, so it appears she looked at it often, at least when she was younger. My take is that she read it, was really hurt, and crossed it out. But she kept going back to it. She remembered it and what she wrote in Glassman's yearbook, but didn't want to admit it. She was playing it cool.
  9. Both storylines had so much that was unrealistic, I spent most of the episode going "Oh, come on!" From a dramatic viewpoint they were very interesting but I needed a little reality to really enjoy them. Glassman's story could have been greatly improved if they had placed his high school crush closer to San Jose. I would not have wanted to be riding in the Uber with a driver who apparently drove for over 24 hours without sleep. As has been stated above, the face surgery would have been done by a plastic surgeon. Apparently t only our regulars are surgeons at the hospital. And the donor family would never have met the recipient family before the transplant. I'm not sure if the Walk of Honor is a real thing, but I have never seen so many employees of the hospital before.
  10. Apparently, Catherine's surgery is based on the real life experience of one of the show's producers.
  11. I think it was because the State of the Union Address was scheduled for January 29, so it was a planned preemption. When the SOTU was cancelled, the networks put in fillers. Of course, the SOTU is now scheduled for next Tuesday (Feb. 5), so the show will be preempted again.
  12. Of course I did, @saber5055, didn't you see me wave back? Actually, I go to these competitions with a number of other skating fans and we always have seats in the first three rows. We wear turquoise scarves so people can find us on TV. I was the gray haired old lady on the aisle of the third row. And I was impressed by how downtown Detroit has improved since the last time I was there. It has lots of great restaurants and the Motown Museum is fantastic. The skating was great too, so I did have a good time, at least until I got stuck in the Detroit airport for five hours on Monday. I did see Manta/Johnson's Sweet Dreams free skate, @Sharpie66. They repeated it at the Skating Spectacular (the only performance not done by a medal winner), so I hope NBC will show it when they broadcast the Spectacular on February 16. It was very well received.
  13. I'm Baaaack! Week 19: 1/5 with * Week 20: 4/5 with * So, on average, I'm average.
  14. Just wanted to let you know I won't be reporting my scores until January 29. I'm going to Detroit for the US Figure Skating Championship (as a spectator, not participant). Just as well as I'm 0/4 so far this week. Back in competition for the worst score award!
  15. I'm so sorry you missed FJ, @j5cochran. I must say that you have a beautiful voice. I wish I could have listened to it for a lot longer. Thanks for doing this forum proud!
  16. Blueberry pie in December/January? There's a diner I go to all the time that's known for its pies and I've never seen blueberry pies there except in the summer.
  17. Thanks for this information, @j5cochran. Sometimes contestants start to answer before Alex calls their name and I always wondered how they knew they had rung in first. Now I know!
  18. Especially since in the pilot, all she did was run around the country publicizing the hospital and fundraising, until Max threatened to fire her if she didn't stay at the hospital and practice medicine. She certainly knows the financial realities of running New Amsterdam.
  19. All through this episode I kept thinking that, if Georgia's pregnancy was so fragile, she was ordered bed rest and no stress, why wasn't she being monitored by her doctor while she waiting to find out whether her husband would live? I guess I'm just a continuity freak.
  20. Since the FJ involved someone from Scotland, I, of course, guessed Robert Burns. I was sure I got an asterisk when Alex said "Robert" but was completely deflated when he went on "Louis Stevenson." Sigh.
