  1. PBS had a great documentary about the Candy Bomber, Gail "Hal" Halvorsen, who is still alive and still dropping candy, which is how I knew the answer.
  2. Rhonda. You know, Rhonda Fonda. And her daughter And, of course, Kit Fonda.
  3. This. I kept wondering why the Doctor cared whether the Dalek got a message out. The Daleks already know where Earth is and most certainly know that it is protected by the Doctor. They ain't going to mess with another invasion, no matter what the scout told them.
  4. Week 16: 3/5 Sorry to be late again. I don't have access to this forum unless I'm at work. I'll be on time next week (although my score so far is bleak). I watched Jeopardy Monday at a New Year's Eve party. I told my friends about the contest so they wouldn't shout out the answer to FJ and they all wondered how we could be sure that people were accurately reporting their scores. I told them that I trust the honor of the people in this forum and I do. Jeopardy fans don't cheat!
  5. Boots give stability to the skater's ankles and affects the landing. When a skater lands, there has to be enough flexibility to spread the impact through the leg but enough firmness to keep the leg upright. If the boot is too firm or too soft, it can really throw off the landing. It also has to give enough support for the spins. Most skaters take months to get their boots to the right flexibility. It's like breaking in a pair of new shoes. Sometimes they never become comfortable and sometimes ones you wear all the time just fall apart.
  6. Yay, @teebax ! The Kit Carson Before Your Time All-Star Jeopardy Orchestra featuring the Good For You Rhythm Section and the Women Authors Singers With the No Boo Hiss Players and the Alber Camoo Dancers will all be rooting for you!
  7. My attitude toward dogs is similar to Murphy's but Benny is such a cute animal. And I enjoyed the various names that Murphy and Avery came up with for him. My favorite was FDR.
  8. For some reason, I always think there's a "G' in the name (Zap- GRU-der), so spelling or saying, I would still be ruled wrong.
  9. 2/5 with no *. Back in the running for worse record. My mother would be so proud. I hope you had a happy birthday @saber5055.
  10. I am convinced that the Viet Nam village historian is Jack's son because he certainly gave a Pearson monologue to Kevin.
  11. Not to mention St. Elsewhere, where David Morse had the same scene with the person who received his wife's heart. And, please, Show, let's not have the nice café lady be just playing the older doctor ( I really should know names by now, but I don't) for the money.
  12. 3/5 with an asterisk. I need the Teen Tournament back.
  13. Jason Brown's score for the short at the France GP shows what the changes in the scoring system can do. He didn't try a quad but got 4s and 5s in his GOEs for his triples and other elements and 8s and 9s in his component scores. He is in first place over the quad jumpers by almost 6 points. Of course, it helped that both Nathan Chen and Boyang Jin each had falls on their single quads. Still, the downgrading of quads is really changing the scoring. By the way, is anyone else getting Adam Rippon vibes from Jason's new (ponytail less) look?
  14. Thanks. I missed an episode so I missed all the explanations. So we are going to have to put up with campaign until next year? Ugh!
  15. So when do they hold council elections in Philadelphia? Randall is campaigning on Thanksgiving, which is several weeks after the normal election date. Plus local elections are usually in odd numbered years so they don't conflict with the national elections. I could understand if this was a special election, but he's running against a 20 year incumbent, so it makes no sense. Did they ever explain how Randall could run when he's not even a resident of the state, much less the city?
  16. A new drinking game! Drink whenever Alex mentions it's an all female finals.
  17. She did a double Lutz/double toe for her combination, which got all -5 GOEs, fell on her triple Flip, singled her Axel, and got Level 2s on her step sequence and spins. Her component scores went from 4.75 to 7.75. So, yes, I think you can safely say it did not go well.
  18. There is a difference (I think 2d place is guaranteed $50,000 and 3d place is guaranteed $25,000) but that is based only on the two day finals scores. All the semi-final scores do is decide who goes to the finals. The money doesn't carry over. I think Maya just didn't realize she had a runaway. I too noticed that Alex didn't say anything about it, maybe to spare the other two contestants' feelings.
  19. 3/5. Thank goodness for the Teen Tournament.
