  1. I was so surprised to see fortune cookies as the technical challenge. I made fortune cookies -- by myself -- in the sixth grade without much difficulty. I found the key is to not try to bake too many at once. Do two or maybe three at the same time -- any more and they'll harden before you get to fold them. "Fun" bit of personal trivia: When I left my job to go to law school, my co-workers took me out for a farewell lunch at a Chinese restaurant and the fortune I got in my fortune cookie that day said, "You would make a good lawyer." I carried that fortune around in my wallet for years. :-)
  2. I did too! (said "WHO???") However, the two teenagers I was watching with (14- and 16-year-olds) were astounded that I hadn't heard of the person (whatever her name was).
  3. It used to be on two episodes a night in the middle of the night (East Coast) -- at 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Then they stopped that and started running eight (nine?) episodes in a row on Thursdays. However, even though they've stopped that, it's not gone completely. Per my DVR, it's back to twice a day at 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. And, the H&I website confirms it. https://www.handitv.com/shows/nypd-blue ETA: They've just kept going where they were on Thursdays -- i.e., they're in Season 8.
  4. First, I'm very sorry about your husband -- I'm sure it was devastating for you. I've had paper cuts; I've never broken my finger. However, I believe that breaking a finger hurts more than a paper cut. So, I disagree (respectfully) that if you haven't lived through something personally, you can't understand it. To suggest otherwise suggests that no person is really capable of empathy. I also think it doesn't help Sonja's case when she was commenting in this third reunion installment about the divorce as something that seemed to have happened TO them -- others insisted they get divorced, I believe is how she was describing it -- as if she and her husband had no part in it. It almost seemed like she was trying to characterize the divorce as this horrible event that came out of the blue and blindsided them both (like a death might).
  5. ^ This! I've seen a bunch of posts here -- especially in the first few pages -- that describe Bethenny as winning the Reunion so far. She might be winning individual battles, but -- IMO -- she's losing the war. She can win arguments with her snark and witty (often mean) comments, but at the end of the day, it seems like she doesn't get along with her family, her marriage turned into WWIII and she doesn't appear to really have many (any?) true friends. At some point, if you have so many toxic relationships in your life, you have to wonder what the common denominator is (answer: in this case, Bethenny herself). So, be mean and snarky Bethenny, but don't expect much sympathy when you can't maintain normal relationships with other people. Thank you! I was coming on to post this as well! After all they've been through, it would seem they can still have civil (perhaps even friendly) discussions. Can anyone imagine Bethenny being that way with Jason?
  6. People magazine confirmed today that Denise will be joining the show: "Denise Richards has officially joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The 47-year-old actress confirmed her participation in the hit Bravo show’s upcoming ninth season exclusively to PEOPLE, saying “I am so excited to join the cast of [RHOBH] as I am a huge fan of the show.” She’ll join Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Erika Girardi, Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave and Dorit Kemsley, all of whom are expected to be back for another round of drama in the 90210." https://people.com/tv/denise-richards-real-housewives-beverly-hills-casting-confirmed/
  7. I thought I was used to all of the rules and traditions, etc. that we've seen on this show, but I have to say I was majorly creeped out by the father-daughter "first look." I really hope this is not becoming a real thing that people do now. If anyone had suggested that my father and I do that at my wedding, we would have looked at the person like they have three heads.
  8. And, People magazine is now reporting the same thing. (A slightly more credible source than TMZ, at least in my opinion.....) https://people.com/tv/luann-de-lesseps-sued-by-children-ex-husband-house-sale/ The article has quotes from the legal documents that (purportedly) were filed.
  9. You're right! I hadn't forgotten about her altogether, but because I knew she was on at the same time as Jill (not afterwards), I had assumed it was before 2010. However, it was the season after Bethenny left, so it was after 2010. Bethenny left at the end of Season 3; Cindy, Alex, Jill, and Kelly were all let go at the end of Season 4 (which, for Cindy, was her one and only season).
  10. If you had asked me, five minutes before the episode aired, when all that stuff went down between Bethenny and Jill, I would have said, "Oh, I don't know, maybe three years ago?" I almost fell over when B. mentioned that it happened in 2010. Of course, if I stop and think about all the HWs we've had since then... Aviva, Heather, Carole, Kristen, Dorinda, Jules, Tinsley... my guess of three years makes absolutely no sense. I just can't believe eight years have flown by. It really is true what they say: For the young, the days go fast and the years go slow; for the old, the days go slow and the years go fast. (I'm feeling old.)
  11. So, this isn't good.... From the linked article: Lincoln ... was convicted of indecent assault and battery for groping and assaulting an adult female on a harbor cruise ship, according to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. [He] was convicted on May 21 — one week before The Bachelorette premeired — and sentenced to one year in a house of correction. The incident in question occurred May 30, 2016. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/bachelorette-contestant-convicted-of-indecent-assault-and-battery/ar-AAyB0gC?li=BBnbfcL
  12. I heard Emerson yesterday on Amy Phillips's show on SiriuxXM's Radio Andy channel dishing on the RHoNY. I still miss the People's Couch! He mentioned at one point about how he was paranoid to eat anything during the episodes because he didn't want it to look bad. (Apparently Scott or Blake, but I think he said Scott, liked to eat these giant grapes during the tapings, which according to Emerson looked like testicles.)
  13. I know that we shouldn't take anything that these ladies say literally, but for someone who has SO much to say that finding a giant Nutcracker "saved" Christmas is just sad. I'm sure her daughter gets tons of gifts and wouldn't have given it another thought if there was no giant Nutcracker on Christmas morning. She's setting her daughter up for a lifetime of disappointment if Bryn becomes the kind of person who focuses on what she doesn't have vs. being thankful for everything she does have.
  14. I wasn't paying close attention last night; I guess I need to go back and re-watch. Was the referencing to "act[ing] 45," an age reference or a Trump reference?
  15. My hope is that Caleb and Gabby split the "country" vote and Maddie ends up winning, but -- echoing what others have already said -- if history has proven anything, then I need to be prepared to not get what I want. If Maddie doesn't win, then I'm actually indifferent between Caleb and Gabby (who both annoy me for different reasons). I was thrilled when the judges decided to actually judge, although pretty much too little, too late at this point. (I wonder why now, though?) Although perhaps it bodes well for next season.
  16. Don't they have a banner at camp where they've all painted their names? I'm pretty sure the camera flashed on it at least once this episode. If you're planning to vote someone out, couldn't you just glance up at the banner and confirm the spelling?
  17. ^ YES!! That was, hands down, the best part of the episode (for me). Followed by deactivated Murray. The Spaceballs storyline did nothing for me. (It probably doesn't help that I've never seen the movie.....never had any desire, even though I generally like Mel Brooks movies.) I also liked how Erica's song that Bev listened to which changed her mind was the show's theme song. It's too bad that, in real life, there's an Eric rather than an Erica because we never get the video flashbacks, etc. relating to anything her character does. (Is that right? Please correct me if they've ever shown a video of Eric that relates to something Erica-related on the show.)
  18. I would add Brandi to that list. But, even though the rest don't need the actual Bravo paycheck, I do think they profit significantly from the promotion of their businesses (and, in the case of Yolanda and Lisa R., the promotion of their offspring).
  19. I think one point Teddi kept trying to make -- which Erika never addressed -- was the fact that Erika's assistant was already at the hotel. Why, if Erika decided to go to a hotel somewhat spontaneously? Teddi's house was in Dana Point, right? Which, if you're driving, I'm going to guess takes around 75-90 minutes with relatively light traffic. (I'm not from CA, but I actually had to drive from LA to Dana Point once and I remember it taking a while.) Does Erika regularly require assistants to be "nearby" or on standby? It almost seems like she can't do a single thing on her own without paid help. And, I'm not sure why this is being laid at Teddi's feet -- it seems like they ALL talked about it (not in a being mad way, but in a "hey it was kind of weird that she left" way) and probably wouldn't even have said any thing about it if Dorit hadn't made it into a bigger deal than it was. The other explanation -- which no one dared mention -- is that when they looked at the pictures they agreed with Dorit that her face looked horrible and decided not to hurt her feelings by telling her that was the reason. Instead it's easier/kinder to say it was because of her attitude. And, if Dorit wasn't expecting her face to be photographed, whined about the makeup, then complained once she actually saw some of the shots that she looked bad, why is she all of a sudden having feelings about the pictures showing exactly what she expected in the first place? -- in theory, she got what she expected/wanted. You can't really have it both ways -- you can't complain about how your face looked AND complain they they didn't show your face. Me too! I actually think marriage is easy -- as long as you marry someone that you would genuinely want as a friend and actually talk about things before you get married, so that you're on the same page regarding expectations (how money will be handled, how many kids do you want, etc. etc.). It's amazing to me that people get married without talking about and agreeing about some of those things. --------------- Were those colored contacts or are Kyle's eyes really that green? Every time they show that clip of Erika in the latex halting for the cyclist, I laugh at her expression (and the sort-of look directly at the camera), but -- boy -- I think she looks ridiculous in that latex. I realize that I might be in the minority on that one. I think it looks horrible -- I'm around her age (generally), but I'm somewhat old-fashioned, I guess (and, apparently cranky this morning...LOL).
  20. MY top 5 (not that anyone's asking -- LOL) would have been (in order): (1) Maddie; (2) Gabby; (3) Michael; (4) Catie; and (5) Journee. I can't stand Cade or Caleb. I like Catie, even though I think a lot of her "oh shucks" is kind of schticky. I've seen people above describing Journee as cold, not connecting, etc. -- that's exactly how I would describe Caleb. I am also in the camp of being annoyed that the judges almost as a rule fail to offer any kind of criticism -- generally not even constructive criticism. The gushing and the frequent standing ovations mean almost nothing because they happen so often. I doubt I would have gone, but I'm also very surprised that the tour is not coming anywhere in Florida. There are a lot of large venues in So. Florida, but there are many smaller ones as well -- the Hard Rock Live, Broward Center, Arsht Center or the Jackie Gleason Theater, among other venues. I would have thought some place in Orlando would have been a no-brainer -- the winner could have done the obligatory "I won American Idol and now I'm going to Disney World!!" thing.
  21. Interesting that some of the kids said that they barely watch the show, even after KJ "clears" it (I believe that's how it was phrased.....and, what's that about? What could possibly be in an episode that the kids shouldn't see?) Unlike others, I actually wish the show had been longer. I would have liked to hear from the three middle boys and the younger girls. Any guesses on what the "Special Announcement" will be during next week's show?
  22. I'm loving the Frentas and the "Bevolution" this season. And the JTP never gets old for me. I'm easily entertained, I suppose. I do feel like the episodes are a little bit all over the place this season, although I guess that's not a bad thing since they're in syndication. One week Pops is in Florida....seeming like he's there for an extended stay....next week he's back. One week Geoff (Jeff?.... why do I feel like it's spelled with a "G" in this case?) is the love of Erica's life....while the week before she was heading off for Spring Break in Florida without even telling him.
  23. I heard "dead or alive"; which is consistent with Carole and Sonja opting to go as Amelia Earhart and Lucille Ball.
  24. I thought Chris was going somewhere else with his "I've been avoiding telling people I'm a model" confession. I thought he was going to say that it was because people assume that models make a lot of money and he doesn't want a "doesn't need the $" strike against him. People with better memories that me please feel free to correct me, but it seems to me that it's harder for players to win who are perceived as having a pretty cushy lifestyle and are out there to a certain extent more for the experience than the money. It's almost like the thinking is, "Wow, they've already got a great life AND now they want to win Survivor also? I don't think so."
  25. As someone who once (a million years ago it feels like) had a fiance spring the "I don't want to get married anymore" on me without any warning, Becca's reaction felt very real to me. Arie knew what was happening -- she didn't and therefore wasn't prepared to react. She was in shock. I was in shock too and literally walked away (we were in a park), got in my car and drove home without saying a word. My ugly tears followed -- and there were quite a few -- but in the moment it was happening I had what can only be described really as almost a non-reaction. I think Becca wanted to get away, but couldn't -- there were cameras in her face, it seemed like she may have been somewhat trapped without a car at that house, etc. And, they showed clips of her crying afterwards when she was by herself. The fact that two months later she can remain composed is not an indication to me that she wasn't hurt when it happened.
