  1. Week 19: 2/5, no *. Wow, I managed to get the only two non-* FJs.
  2. I have edited and indexed articles and books for a genealogy society for several years. My vision is not up to reading cursive, but there is plenty of typed and typeset material to work on.
  3. If the series continues until after the war, someone might suggest that a veterinarian who can fly a plane would be welcome in Australia, especially if he is good with sheep. I doubt the Herriots would move, though.
  4. Week 18: 5/5. Bringing latkes and all the trimmings.
  5. Still too much human drama and not enough animals, IMO. We can see humans on practically any other show. I wanted to see how they captured the alligator.
  6. Josiah Wedgwood, founder of the Wedgwood pottery company, was Charles Darwin's maternal grandfather. Charles Darwin married Emma Wedgwood, who was his first cousin.
  7. Maybe someone should have brought Alec a copy of The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey.
  8. According to this article https://www.iflscience.com/what-is-nobel-disease-and-why-do-so-many-prizewinners-develop-it-77532 Do you think Sheldon might develop this condition, maybe from frustrations in his research? He already made glow-in-the-dark fish; what might be next? Amy seems (to me) less likely to develop it, but we could speculate.
  9. Not only that, he used one arm to carry her, possibly putting himself and other humans in danger too. If he needs to take her everywhere, how about getting a sling or crossbody bag, so he can have both hands free?
  10. How do they choose which contestant gets the left podium when there is no current champion? For the Second Chance Tournament, do they go by how much money the contestants won on their previous appearances? Or is it a random selection? The people at the left podium appear to be doing especially well, so I wondered.
  11. I didn't see this episode, but I don't enjoy seeing people getting overly excited and celebratory about the value of an item. I'm much more interested in the histories of the items. My favorite was several years ago. A man brought in a large ceramic plaque and was told it was worth $500. He said something like "That's a relief. I like having it on my wall. If it were very valuable I would have to store it away."
  12. I got an email newsletter from WGBH about it. If you go to WGBH.org and scroll to the bottom, you can click on Newsletters; there's one called GBH Drama. I don't think they require a donation. I donate to WGBH even though I don't live in Boston, because WGBH acquires and produces so many programs.
  13. Thursday's FJ: the moons were named after some of Jupiter's many lovers. The spacecraft Juno, named after Jupiter's wife, is orbiting Jupiter. NASA explained: "Juno's name comes from Greek and Roman mythology. The god Jupiter drew a veil of clouds around himself to hide his mischief, and his wife, the goddess Juno, was able to peer through the clouds and reveal Jupiter's true nature."
  14. Week 17: 5/5 + 1 * Friday I didn't know Jonah was a prophet, but I knew the book was Moby Dick, so Jonah was a natural.
  15. I'll watch another couple of episodes, but it has the potential to become very silly. If it does, I'm gone.
  16. I was expecting someone to say they hope he will be a Jeopardy contestant some day, so he will experience how stressful it is.
  17. Please tell us some of the better options.
  18. Week 16: 4/5 + 1 * Bringing Boston cream pie.
  19. Week 15: 3/5 + 1 * (Friday) Weeks 1-15: 48/75 + 9 * I have not seen "Little Caesar" but knew it was about organized crime. I know only a few laws concerning organized crime. RICO is one of them and sounds like someone's name.
  20. FJ: As a non-sportsball fan, I was proud of myself for being able to name a real team. Not the one they wanted, but by my standards I did well.
  21. "Song of the Falklands" lyrics
  22. I enjoy seeing many of Elsbeth's clothes, even though they wouldn't look good on me. But the hot pink suit with orange trim in "One Angry Woman" -- yecch, I could barely look at it.
  23. Ram Murali's novel is Death in the Air. My library has that and another book with the same title, nonfiction(?) about the London smog. The London book is available so I borrowed it.
  24. When the judge mentioned his Mayflower ancestry, Elsbeth made a comment about the Salem witch trials IIRC. She (and the writers) should know that the Pilgrims and the Puritans were different groups of people, with different goals.
  25. Week 14: 2/5, no *. Marie Curie and Douglas Adams were instagets; the other three were nevergets. I never watched "I Dream of Jeannie."
