Melrose Place was good with having absolutely crazy bitchs that the acting didn't become clown-y hammy farce. Gone With the Wind was perfectly cast and no remake could touch it. The only actor that was iffy was Leslie Howard as Ashley he wasn't as "pretty" as Ashley is described but he did capture Ashley's weariness. He was supposed to be slightly older than Scarlett but looked and was much older. Vivien Leigh. Such a great beauty. And her performance was A++. Melanie was meant to look like a light emitted from her from the inside out and be good and sweet but without any insincerity or cloying ways. And to be plain, attractive enough but plain in that; not unique or compelling. Olivia De Havilland represent all well. The casting and acting from the ultimate loving Mammy, Annoying Prissy, Scarlett's sisters, India, sleazy Jonas, old maid Frank, the town cackling judgy hens ect ect could not be better. The only actors that could have played Rhett in update is Christian Bale or young Daniel Day Lewis. Scarlett maybe Alison Lohman or Michelle Williams with their hair dyed.

Love/lust/infatuation makes people do crazy or stupid things. Has there ever been any evidence Jason Hoppy was a fame whore besides being willing to appear on camera and proclaim his love for Bethany publicly? The struggling single parents who may even have left an abusive situation and raising a family on their own while facing physical and emotional scars, those working grueling jobs with asshole bosses or customers without glam squads and assistants to wipe their ass, the people working full time and still tirelessly taking care of handicapped children or spouses, people who have low paying and emotionally draining jobs assisting the poor and hurt in the inner city or economically devastated areas.... None of them understand how hard her life is and how accomplished she is. I don't even think Angelina has the balls and conceit Kimmy has in her interviews.

KSJ had opened up about it in the past with candor in a SOD while his son was living. It is incredibly callous of the executive producer and writers knowing his family's struggles with mental illness which ended in tragedy. And still using mental illness and referring to it in a laughing manner (like Pratt in interviews). I remember reading that article and seeing his son's pic and pics of his art and hoping he would prevail or get into a program that would help. And feeling sad and frustrated when it didn't and his son took his life.
